Objective 2: Secure the Landing Zone
Location: IMC Landing Zone
[member="Sinist"]

"Woo!" Chaf'arcar'usorn shouted, rifle in the air as he watched the Chiss bombers soar by. "That's what I'm talking about, marines. Bring the rain, bring the pain."

The Captain cast a concerned eye toward where he had seen Mars'inis'tlicu last running, hoping the Commando had managed to avoid being hit by any of the high explosives. Given the fact the he felt comfortable charging a landing zone by himself, chances were he would be fine. Still, the marines needed to hustle, making sure to get onto the landing pad proper and to round up any remaining IMC forces.

"Move in, marines, secure the landing zone," Chaf'arcar'usorn said through his comlink, as he started to run down the hill, rifle aimed as he double-timed his arrival below. "This is Captain Chaf'arcar'usorn to any IMC guards or mercenaries, your gunships have been destroyed and we have surrounded your position. Stand down, lower your weapons, and prepare to be detained... or don't, and we keep slugging it out until you're all dead."

From the landing zone, amid the debris and fire and smoke, were a few dozen humanoid forms moving around. They weren't marines, and they looked stunned. Probably because of the explosives and all the noise, some eardrums were likely burst, shrapnel damage was probably likely. So, when the marines began moving forward, approaching from different angles with weapons ready to open fire, it was little surprise that the IMC forces raised weapons above their heads.

"We surrender, don't shoot," One of them shouted, as the group of shell shocked guards and mercs began tossing down their arms. "Damn Chiss..."

Chaf'arcar'usorn reached the platforms, weaving through smoking chunks of metal and small fires, as he approached the IMC guard that seemed to have the highest rank badge. Looked like it was a fellow 'Captain'. With a smirk, the marine narrowed his crimson eyes as he stopped in front of the other sentient, a Duros, and kept his rifle pointed at the being's chest.

"Glad you have some sense after all... now, why don't you all stand there quietly while my marines begin cuffing you. Don't resist or we shoot."

The Captain looked around, eyebrows raised, before he called out.

"Mars'inis'tlicu, you alive?"

Who knew what a mess blowing up the giant snake from the inside out with a thermal detonator would make?! There were reptile guts everywhere!

Flaz'suz'safis stood up from behind the boulder she'd dove to for cover and wiped off the goo from the front of her helmet visor with gloved fingers. She felt a bit concussed, but not bad from the explosion. The LT gathered her wits and stepped out to the clearing, tapping her squamates on the shoulders to make sure they were alive.

"Sound off, Thetas. Anyone need a medic?"

All of Theta squad was fine... only mildly shaken not stirred. They were lucky.

"How about giving us a heads up next time, Lieutenant," Theta Six quipped, trying to scrap off some snake guts from his boots.

"It was a test. I was just keeping you on your toes... Good job. You all passed," Flaz'suz'safis responded matter of fact, then she looked around scanning the area. The sun was beginning to go down and there appeared to be a full moon rising just above the mountain top.

"Let's set up proximity sensors strategically around the village before it gets too dark. If the creature that's been preying upon these villagers comes out, we'll be ready for it. And Six.... Make sure you get a nice sample of the snake's remains. The Science Corps will want to analyze it."

Hera, systems away from the ongoing situation in the Avidich system, sat behind the computer furiously typing away on the keyboard. How many hours had she spent trying to get into their stupid system? How many 0101010111111001010101010101111111 could someone look at before they wanted to pull their hair out? And how many Password123 does someone have to go through and Ieksla109342 does a girl gotta do? At least the system was doing it's part, albeit much slower than she would have preferred.

Her hair already had white in it! She didn’t want it whiter, watching numbers decrease her life expectancy every minute. A stim caf mug sat in front of her as her eyes watched the numbers crawl across her screen. She bit her lip in thought. Perhaps it wasn’t as hard as it seemed. The slicing took time to decode, especially a hardy encrypted system like what she was trying to get through. She took the mug and took a sip as she thought about possible comb—

Ding, ding. The green success light finally pop up on her monitor.

She hadn’t gotten much while she intruded their systems but… Blueprints! Her hard work finally come to something at least! Maybe she wasn’t completely useless in her position, after all. She quickly fiddled with the headset on her head as she pulled the microphone down to speak into the comms of the agents on the ground. “[member="Cleru"], [member="Eriate"], I have the blueprints pulled up. Locations? I have a general idea of where you can go…” If they had trackers, they were likely off.

She began to cross-reference this information with other data that had been transmitted. And… “I have some possible routes to go, potential least resistance,” she said after a few moments as she waited for them to respond to her initial question.

Objective 3
THE HEADQUARTERS
There is a need for vital intelligence from the IMC Headquarters. Obtain IMC classified information from HQ and disrupt IMC Headquarters Command, Control, and Communications (C3). Be careful not to further damage the water supply it sits on—the lichen plants must remain intact.

Rushing air met Malicar has he continued his descent, falling almost 10 meters a second. The rocky valley came quickly with the terrain below going from formless spots of color to distinct terrain. Seeing that his trajectory was going to put him in the side of the mountain he jumped from before he reached the ground, Malicar tucked his arms beside him and forced his body headlong, away from the side. Moments later, the Master Agent was in a position where he was above flat terrain, beside a stream below. Using a sliding scale on his chronometer, Malicar activated the gravbelt around his waist. Slowly, the Chiss’ finger slid the control as he acrobatically spun to where his feet were leading to the ground. His progress began to grow slower and slower. Until his feet lightly touched down on the surface. Completely deactivating his gravbelt. He looked above and saw Mccool and Remi floating down next to him. At that moment, thunderous explosions occurred where they once were as the orbital bombardment of the IMC Headquarters began from 2nd Fleet naval assets.

Giving a wink to Remi as her feet hit the ground, Malicar spoke into his comlink, “Mynock, this is Bantha. Ready for pick-up. Sending the coordinates now.”

Eraite stood before several newly escaped prisoners, many of which seemed unsure of the Chiss' intentions. Three of them had seized the weapons of the guards and had the weapons leveled at the two now, as Eriate put a hand up and gave a disarming smile. She pushed out gently with the force, sending a feeling of serenity towards the prisoners, causing them to view the two with less hostility as they began to lower their weapons. Now they could talk. "Gentlemen, as you can see, my partner and I are here to remove this mine from operation. Now, you all are currently free at this moment due to our efforts, and it would be beneficial to all of us, if you directed all of your pent up rage and aggression against those who occupy this facility. In return, we will make sure that no one ever has to slave in this mine again." Eriate turned to Cleru and winked, before looking back at the pack of prisoners. "Now, sirs, I ask what it is you wish to do?" Eriate was prepared to unleash a full force wave into the men, sending them flying backwards and following it up by igniting both her blades and cutting them to pieces. Thankfully, that didn't seem to be needed at this moment. The freed slaves seemed to understand the pairs intentions, and rather than try and fill the room with bodies, they directed themselves down the passage, letting loose cries of anger and celebration, as loud sirens began to clang off not too long after they were gone.

"See, now that wasn't so bad." Eriate commented, as she began to move to leave the room. The voice of another Chiss woman spoke in her ear, as she paused and realized who she was speaking with. "You're late Hera, I was expecting you to be into this system sooner, but no matter. We are by the prisoner cells. How close are we to the operation room of this mine?" Her tone wasn't aimed at being demeaning, rather informing the Chiss to try and get on the ball for the next operation; such a delay could spell death if this was a more dangerous mission.

Objective 1: Shut down the mines ( [member="Eriate"] [member="Ledgermayne"] [member="Hera"] )
There was a swift nod from the agent as he glanced over to his companion. She was well worded to say the least, and he gave her an encouraging smile as she winked to him. He hoisted his gun back up into a ready position as Cleru turned to follow the Vizitor. "Should be much easier going now that they'll have to deal with the riot." Just as he finished speaking his com went off.

So Hera finally joined the party.

The agent chuckled at his companions response. She could of cut some slack for the slicer. It was no easy feat remote hacking start systems away. He didn't make a comment on it as he turned his attention to the crowd that was beginning to spread throughout the mine. "Find us a path around the riot we just started. The main bulk of their forces will be focused on prisoner capture. Should let us slip right on through."

Hera waited for a reply for a few moments. Perhaps they were busy doing… More combat-oriented battle and such. Either way, she continued calculating possible routes while she waited for a response. Ah! Eriate came in… With a very logical and in truth, respectable reaction to Hera’s late entry to help. “Sorry,” she muttered through the comms, “They had some surpris—anyway, prisoner cells. Perfect.”

She took a look at her second monitor as she began to narrow down possible routes even more, starting at the prisoner cells. “Can you get a keycard? If you go 100 steps forward, make a right, go about 70 more steps, to the left there will be a key card access door. It’ll give you a direct route to the operation room." She paused, “I might be able to hack it, but… If it was anything like the blueprints,” she commented somewhat nervously.

Looks like it was probably a backdoor, in case something went wrong. But, there is another one on the other side, which is close to what looks like a hangar bay. So… I imagine you won’t run into any serious resistance when you get to the operations room."

She took a breath as her fingers went back to typing away on the keyboard. "Trying to find if I can get into any of the other systems," she mostly said to herself.

The captains shout to retreat was just in time. He had heard the roar of the engines and this caused the commando to shoot a few last shots into the crowd before sprinting back towards the hill. He was still proud of his plan as he had managed to kill many, and remained quite unharmed. Shots had been a hair away at times, some had skimmed him but his armour saved him. Once he was a safe distance up the hill, he turned and began to shoot down into the crowd. These shots were pointless, as at that moment the explosions started. He watched for a moment before turning to the captain. "Is it clear or do you want to send some marines and myself in to check?" He began to check his gun for any damages it might have received while he waited for the captains verdict.

"Spose we gave 'em enough time?" Twigg mused aloud as the duo trudged through the mud. They were tracking the trail of the snake, but it was long gone now. Escaped somewhere nice and good, by Rexus' reckoning, or hopefully had been destroyed. Didn't matter by him. People lived, people died. Animal lived, animal died. T'was the way this karked up world worked. And Wenck was not one to mess with it. Reaching into his supply rucksack, the Death Trooper looked around. They were out in the open. Hopefully nothing more would come of it.

Wenck pulled out a stick, and cracked it open, "Dunno." Rexus coolly replied, before letting rip a red flare. The area around the duo glowed a bitter, and venomous red, reaching to his unit, Wenck peered into the dark. "Opfor, this is ALPHA, request immediate extraction from this karkin' hole." He snapped, "Dunno if there are any more beasties, but I swear, you'll 'ear 'bout it if you let us die down here." The Death Trooper threatened, before closing comms. That'd keep the blue boys in black on their toes. Slumping to the ground, Wenck watched as the stars slowly reached, across the horizon, pulling the distant world into darkness.

Oh, what woe had become of them.

Objective 1: Shut down the mines ( Cleru Ledgermayne Hera )
Eriate began to leave the room, as she shook her head at the younger Chiss' stammering. She put the problem to the agents youth, but at least she was contributing to the mission. "We have obtained a keycard, yes. Keep on eye on things from your side, inform us if there is any unusual activity you pick up on." Eriate was already moving to the objective now, her Vizitor gauntlets at the ready. She'd consider having a sit down with Hera once this mission was over, perhaps work on building up her competence; nothing sinister of course, but the woman had potential to be far better. She replied back a moment later to the young slicer. "Keep up the good work." Eriate's nostrils flared up in disgust, but perhaps she was being a little harsh about this. She motioned for Cleru to keep up, as the pair would hear the sounds of the riot going on in full swing down the corridors. The pair indeed reached the keycard access roughly where Hara had told them it would be, and so Eriate used the card she had to open the door, but not before pushing her senses into the room to prepared for what lurked inside. She sensed the presence of several guards, and what seemed to be an overseer for the mines. She could sense a great deal of anger and frustration coming from the other side of the door, as it seemed those within were on edge from the start of the riots. "Multiple hostiles, and I believe the one who is in charge of this instillation. Best prepare yourself." She warned, before ignited her gauntlets and opening the door.

Once Remi and Mccool were safely on the ground and the trio were clear of the debris that had begun raining down from the IMC Headquarters, Malicar came over to Remi. She looked up at him, now in her Chiss “guise”.

“Did you exclude the banking information from the upload?”

The shi’ido nodded and she immediately looked down at her chronometer. Her fingers danced across the screen and a hologram of account information came up on the screen. Safely under a canopy of trees, the trio glanced at the account holdings of Intergalactic Mining Company. Malicar’s bright red orbs traced the numbers with his eyes and mused, “Safe deposit vaults, bank names, asset locations…quite a trove. No bank account numbers or access codes, but we can get those with time—this is a good start…excellent work today, Konsilists…”

Roaring sublight drives could be heard rounding the mountain face opposite of the falling duracrete and durasteel remains of the structures far above. The Chiss Ascendancy dropship hovered slowly down near their copse of trees, opening its cargo ramp for the three operatives…and underworld bosses.

Cleru had kept behind the Force Master with his invisibility active as they walked. She would be able to deal with any blaster fire better then he after all, so why not let her be the shield needed? But once she made mention of the hostiles in the next room he deactivated his cloak by the door, holding up a hand. "One moment." From his back pocket the Agent produced a Light Cell Grenade, which was normally only used by Commandos.

He had stolen one from their armory for occasions such as this. They wouldn't mind.

The Agent nodded to his companion for her to cover the other side of the door. Once she was there, he hit the button to have the door pop open and rolled the grenade in. Within moments the room lost all source of light.

Which didn't matter to the pair of Chiss who could see in infrared. Cleru raised his rifle and began rapidly dropping the confused hostiles with quick and precise headshots. Commandos always got all the cool toys.

Hera sunk into her seat some. What a great impression, Hera. She had did her best, or so she thought, but… Well, perhaps there was alternatives she could have tried. More thought processing. A more logical approach, like the Chiss always are encouraged to pursue. The compliment though made her feel somewhat better. “Thank you,” she replied as she watched the screens on her computers.

It seemed there would be some danger based on what she said. Hera listened in to the comms, to see if she could decipher what was going on. She heard the rifle fire. So, there were still people in there. Bad call on her part, but… Dumb that they hadn’t tried to get away when it was clear there operation had been compromised. She was sure the two of them could handle whatever was thrown at them.

She sighed, nibbling her lip as she waited for the others to report. But otherwise, it seemed like it would only be a few more minutes before the operation was shut down.

When the door opened, Eriate was the first to enter. Using the force to enhance her speed, she moved in a blur, slicing up into one guard and cutting in in two, before leaping towards another and decapitating him with a back handed swipe from her blade. She parried a blaster shot aimed at her, just as Cleru dropped several guards with his shots. Wanting to ensure this operation would be finished, the Vitizer turned and slammed the now stunned overseer into the floor, as it seemed to be all of his guardsman were now dead or dying. He attempted to reach for a blaster pistol, but Eriate had enough of this nonsense, and removed the offending limb in kind. "Objective secure." Eriate would comm back to their young slicer, as she turned her gaze to Cleru. They had seized the operation center now, as riots began to breakout through out the mine. "I'd say this counts as a mission complete." Eriate commented with a rare touch of humor. She deactivated her gauntlets, her right hand still holding the overseer immobile; she'd leave it up to the operative about what his fate would be. Still holding the man down, she moved to the nearest terminal, trying to see how best to allow their slicer into the systems. The mining company wouldn't be happy to hear about the lose of their mine, but then again, it was on them for using slave labor. "Both of your performances were satisfactory in this operation." Eriate would say aloud to both of them. It was about as high praise as she usually gave, but no one had died, and she hadn't had to waste any time. Any moment now, the detachment of marines would be touching down to secure the area, and the Ascendancy would have this place under control.

Objective 2: Secure the Landing Zone

[member="Sinist"]

Chaf'arcar'usorn observed the rounding up and detaining of the IMC guards and mercenaries. Once the gunships had been destroyed they had been fairly quick to drop arms and surrender, knowing their main means of support had been taken away. Still, it was unfortunate that the marines hadn't been able to secure the landing zone without bloodshed, since Chaf'arcar'usorn wasn't necessarily someone who liked killing. It was part of the job, yes, but most loss of life was regrettable.

The Captain turned to look at Mars'inis'tlicu, being glad the Commando had been able to escape the blasts of the fighters overhead.

"Looks like we've got this landing zone covered, we'll make sure to release the IMC soldiers once it's all done, allow them a chance to take transports off-world never to return."

With a satisfied nod to Mars'inis'tlicu, Chaf'arcar'usorn reached up to his helmet and activated the comlink.

"Mission Command, we've secured the landing zone."

Objective 4 - Slaying the beasts

After setting out sensor beacons, Theta squad returned to the village.; getting quite a few stares at how they looked and smelled with the stench of the snake's guts still upon them. They were so going to get teased once back with the other Niners, which had the milk run mission of simply securing the landing zone of the IMC.

There had been no signs of this 'other' beast or creature preying on the local villagers, and with the randomness of the attacks it was unclear the time line of the next one. After Lieutenant Flaz'suz'safis called in her interim action report to Mission Command, it was decided that the Marines be extracted and the Colonial Phalanx would take over from here. In a way that was a relief, though it felt like unfinished business to the squad.

Once they were relieved of duty by the colonial forces, Theta squad boarded the same drop ship that had brought them to Avidich. The pilot just shook his head as they boarded.

"What an incredible smell you've discovered," he smirked with a chuckle over his shoulder. "You Marines play in the garbage or something?"

"Nope... Just killed a snake. It was big too, a giant albino one in fact. You flyboys would have peed your pants at the sight," Theta Six shot back, high-fiving the marine next to him.

"Pfft... Right?! Better strap in so you don't pee your pants... "

The lift off and climb up through the mountain pass was quite brisk to exaggerate the point.
