Where It Is Green | CA Dominion of Avidich

A crystalline brow raised high. Seated on a very not so plush cot the Gutretee grimaced as visions passed from waking eyes. This time they were brief but sharper. There was more definition now and then he felt it. A shift in the atmosphere. " Guard. How many more minutes till break?" He asked standing to his feet inches away from a energized ray shield. Sounds of footsteps sounded in the distance along with a irratied grunt as if the man could of been in the middle of something. " Dont worry about it! When the ray shields come down then it will be time for your blasted break! Now the next person to ask me I will not hesitate to blast into a charred husk." The guard stormed off returning to his activities. It sounded like he was enjoying a Holo-entertainer from the faint but clear hum.

Break had to be in atleast 10 minutes from now... it had to be. Ledgermayne had been keeping track. He really needed to know which guard was on patrol today. This guard was older and more relaxed around the miners but also violent. He would do..

Walking back and forth with a powered drill in hand Ledgermayne returned to drilling the ore deposits in the cavern wall. He felt as if the walls were closing in on him within the force. Slow and subtle. It was difficult to track but over time progression could be felt more and more. His blue eyes peeked down the cavern hall through the ray shield toward the main cave system with anticipation. Was this the correct moment or way out?

More time passed.

" Hmm.."

The explanation of her partner was satisfactory, so Eriate accepted it. Made sense, unlike her, his method of killing wasn't so quiet. Perhaps she had overlooked that aspect of the mission. With her partner's blessing, she turned to follow the path to the prison cells. Eriate could hear the chatter of guards up ahead. She stopped and reached out with the force, and felt their locations out. They seemed to be gathered over looking at some holo entertainment device, and there were four of them in total. She ignored them for a moment and pushed her senses further. Close to them was the release for the ray shields of the prisoner cells. Sadly they needed a key card, but fortunately there were some unwitting guards who were about to volunteer theirs.

"Four guards up ahead. You can get behind the back two, I can take the front two. Shouldn't be too difficult. Unless you want to swipe the key and open the cells that way." She would say to her fellow Chis, before creeping up to the room the guards were inhabiting. Unless her partner took issue with it, Eriate would lash out with both gauntlets ignited. Her reaction and speed was augmented by the force, as she reduced the two guards before her into minced meat before their blasters had even cleared the holsters. With the task done, assuming they had chosen that option, Eraite would expect the release alarm to sound and the prisoners in the cell block down the hall would now be free to unleash their brand of justice on the guards. She only hoped the prisoners would be understanding and not try to kill them as well; mostly because their efforts to free them would have been wasted.

Objective 4 - Slaying the beasts.
[member="Rexus Wenck"] | [member="Alezan"]
Flaz'suz'safis didn't know what to think when Theta squad got pulled to the side before boarding the transport with the other marines from 9th Battalion. Captain Chaf'arcar'usorn hadn't mentioned anything during the mission brief before heading to the hangar bay for deployment. The Lieutenant wondered if she'd pissed off someone or this assignment was a reward for doing something good. Time would only tell how fun or trouble hunting/slaying beasts would be.

The Chiss dropship made its way down into the long, narrow valley that was surrounded by high mountain ranges on either side. They were headed to one of the villages that had been preyed upon by a mysterious beast. It was yet to be determine what they were actually dealing with or how many there may be just that the local Chiss were scared to death of the creature, and mourning those dead or missing... some children.

The CEDF pilot set the dropship down in a grassy area about a half a klick from the village for the CEMC's infil, then he lifted back off returning to the 2nd Fleet's flagship, the Vesci, stationed in high orbit above Avidich. Flaz'suz'safis had gotten word that other mercenary groups in conjunction with the CA were also on the same objective. Hopefully they could all work together to search out and eliminate this aloof beast that was terrorizing the local Chiss population. But, first things first...

"Six, take point... We'll head to the village first to gain first hand intel from the locals, then go from there," the LT ordered, then moved out with her charric rifle at the ready.

Objective 1: Shut down the mines ( [member="Eriate"] [member="Ledgermayne"] )
"Sounds like a plan." Cleru confirmed the operation with an invisible nod before speaking, forgetting that the Force User couldn't actually see him. He'd have to keep that in mind. As she set about her own attack, which he paused momentarily to watch in what could only be described as awe, before quickly executing his own targets with two quick silenced shots into their heads as he stepped by.

Once they all dropped dead the Agent deactivated his cloak, turning his gaze back to his companion. "Release I assume. Think they'll turn on us?"

Malicar's hand upon Remi's shoulder was just another reminder that she was under his thumb. Though he needed her in order to keep a lid on his family drama, he did not trust her one iota. The Shi'ido sighed, knowing that by remaining a toy sitting upon the crime lord's shelf surrounded by the countless others he used, she was saving the life of her father.

Soon the Chiss' plan was put into motion as the trio stripped down to their undergarments and quickly changed into light armor suits. Each of them took a dart and a blaster pistol, heeding Malicar's instruction to go silently until they were unable to.

The other Master Agent triggered the blast door which opened into a hallway. Malicar lead with his dart pistol and promptly found use for the weapon. Soon a sentry fell to the floor in an incapacitated heap. The two Chiss and the Shi'ido woman simply stepped over the body and continued on their way, all three on high alert as they did.

Once the trio reached the end of the hall, Malicar gave a simple command and Remi went to work. She was particularly skilled at picking locks and the woman knew that she would be able to get them into the room in roughly a minute and a half at most. As the Shi'ido worked, her fellow Master Agent gave a brief update about the full room that awaited the small group and the plan they would execute to take control.

Several beads of sweat formed across Remi's brow as she inserted a variety of tools into a panel that was a combination of electrical and analog locks. The system was not incredibly complicated, and soon the Shi'ido heard the most wonderful sound: the click of success. “Done,” she said before backing away and tucking the multi-tool into a pocket upon her suit.

Like Malicar, the woman took her blaster pistol in one hand and dart pistol in the other. Just then, the door hissed open and the trio stormed into the room. On the other side was a full room as they had anticipated and the three branched out, each taking a subsection to handle. Remi ran right down the center and shot anyone that stood in her way. It was like shooting fish in a barrel and none of her victims had the chance to escape as she pushed her way through the crowd, her weapons leading the way.

There is a need for vital intelligence from the IMC Headquarters. Obtain IMC classified information from HQ and disrupt IMC Headquarters Command, Control, and Communications (C3). Be careful not to further damage the water supply it sits on—the lichen plants must remain intact.

UVYIu29.png

The shi’ido did her work. She was as good as Malicar had seen in the whole business of infiltration. Her homeworld had trained her well.

“Done”

Malicar nodded as the door was set to open. With a hiss it slid open revealing the command center. Malicar was positioned to the right due to his left-handedness. Remi took center and McCool took left. The three operatives dressed in black with their glowing red goggles looked like wraith-like apparitions as they stormed into the room. Knowing the precise angle that began the section he was responsible for, Malicar led with the dart gun in his left hand. With only five darts in the top-mounted magazine, the operative was relieved to see only five targets in his section—but that meant he could not afford to miss. The armed targets were always the first targets. A security guard turned as the door opened, casually, not expecting a hostile force.

The dart found its home in the exposed neck of the IMC sentry. Not pausing to observe his handiwork, the deadly agent next prioritized the targets that were the most distant to his position. Two more darts found their targets of humans working at consoles, who had not even bothered to turn around. The last two had begun to scramble for cover, but it was too late and they were not trained. The darts found their mark on the backs of both of them. Looking over, Remi and McCool had both done their job well. The three of them had worked together for years, so in situations like this, it had already been rehearsed hundreds of times.

“Clear.”

Remi and McCool echoed the response and the command center was still. None of the workers had been spared. The poison was lethal, but this mission was not about taking prisoners. For the trio, it was not triggering alarms, downloading their data files and remotely shutting down the machines that had begun to despoil the concentrations of lichen.

Looking over at Remi, he stated, “Get the data—hyperspace lanes used, other IMC mining sites, account information, anything else of interest.”

Turning to McCool, he said, “Guard the door.”

Malicar quickly made his way over to a large console that monitored all the mining operations on the planet. One by one, he began shutting down the machines that were in concentrated areas of lichen growth using the coordinates provided to him by CEID’s surveillance teams weeks before.

Looking down at his chronometer, Malicar knew his team only had 38 more seconds before the guard would trigger the alarm. He could shut it off from up here, but he could not prevent it from being triggered. He and his team would need to be out of here before he relayed the command to the capital ships above to lay waste the facility…

Objective 1: Mine shutdown

A thump of a sound echoed down the cavern hall. If the Gutretee had not paused in his mining he wouldn't of heard it. Heaving the drill next to the containment field that trapped him inside he looked the best he could down the cavern hall. Crystal blue eyes shifted back and forth in till they locked on the body lying on the ground. " Hah. Hey guys the guard is sleeping on the job." Ledgermayne shouted rallying more enslaved miners to his side to see this new spectacle. Chuckles and laughter erupted from down the cavern hall for some time and then began banging on the durasteel frame of their inner cells.

" Hey who is out there! Guard is that you?" Some called out randomly waiting to see who was there. If it was a wild animal they would be safe but still a concern of worry would be warranted. The Sith Lord observed the social carnage and waited patiently. Perhaphs he didn't need to break himself out after all.

Above planet Avidich; Avidich System.
Objective X: Provide system-wide security against any reinforcements.
The Vesci remained in orbit over the planet, yet the Avidich System was largely unoccupied. Very few indicators alerted sensors, at least nothing dangerous, and for a time Mitth'orn'eruod suspected the mining conglomerate had centralized all of its forces on the planet. Yet, it would not pay to become complacent nor be less alert, so the Admiral ensured to request consistent updates. The more they came back negative without contact, the better, in his opinion. Besides, it also gave the Admiral a chance to further analyze and investigate the company on the planet itself, scouring over details and public record from the HoloNet.

"Flight control, order the fighters to begin circling the planet," Mitth'orn'eruod said to the crew member down in the control pit. "I want to maintain eyes on the gravity shadow."

The order was given, the Clawcraft in the distance moving away at extreme speeds. Such nimble fighters, by far some of the greatest in the galaxy, only lacking in real punch due to lessened weapon armament. Still, there were other variants for other tasks, with the main Clawcrafts being dedicated to fighter-on-fighter combat. One day, the Admiral would have to fly one of the vessels, but it likely wouldn't be soon. Not to mention Mitth'orn'eruod wasn't a great pilot by any means...

"Sir, we have some interesting sensor readings on the outer edges of the system," A sensor officer reported, walking over to the Admiral. "No indications of hyperspace arrival, yet there seems to be... irregular readings. Perhaps starships in low power modes."

"Thank you, Lieutenant, please keep an eye on that region of the system."

Turning back to the panel screens before him, Mitth'orn'eruod continued studying the information available...

[member="Alezan"] | [member="Rexus Wenck"]

Theta squad made good time hoofing it on foot after being dropped off on the valley floor. When the armored Marines entered the village, they found only a few Chiss mulling around outside their homesteads. One didn't need the Force to sense the fear and tension in the air. Hopefully with their presence now, the villagers would feel more assured.

She removed her helmet, then held it under her arm while the squad remained on alert. "I am Lieutenant Flaz'suz'safis with the Chiss Expansionary Marine Corps. Who is your leader here? I need to speak to them regarding the reported attacks."

An early to middle-aged Chiss walked forward from the small crowd that had gathered in the village square since their arrival.

"That would be me by default as our chieftain is among those that have perished. I am Serg'vom'ani. We are glad the Ascendancy has finally responded to our calls for help," he said with both relief and frustration noted in his voice.

There were a ton of questions Suz wanted to ask mainly about the frustration part as it probably had to do with the previous leadership of the CA and their lack of fulfilling their duties for the Chiss at large and only lining their own pockets. But time was of the essence, if the threat to these people was to be taken care of.

"I need to know the particulars of these attacks so we may begin to root out and eliminate whomever or whatever is hurting your people."

"Well that is just it, there is no pattern to the attacks other than it usually happens around a full moon. No one has actually seen the beast... and lived. Those that we have found were seemingly mauled with claw and bite marks... " the man's head lowered as he was paused. "The last attack happened down near the river a forth night ago.... Two children."

Flaz'suz'safis' chest twinged a bit at the Chiss' statement, but it was but a momentary emotion pushed down without any further thought given to it.

"I see... We will begin a search for this beast. Have your villagers stay within the village proper until further notice," she said with a curt nod, then her helmet was placed back on and Theta squad began to move out.

"Let's start a delta-two grid search pattern. We stay within sight of each other. Call out if you find anything."

"Yes, ma'am," the chorus of marines acknowledged their squad leader as they moved towards the last known site of an attack.

Hess'iva'nuruodo felt most at home behind the controls of a Chiss starfighter. It was almost like a second skin. The hum of the ion engines seemed to speak to her heart. Being free to fly amongst the stars was a beautiful things to behold especially in such a fine craft as the Nssis-class Clawcraft was. It was an honor and pleasure to fly one.

"Saber Leader. Flight Control."

"This is Saber One. Go for leader," Iva keyed back to the flight control officer aboard the Vesci.

"Maintain global CAP. Be advised sensors show a possible incursion setting up at the outer edge."

"Roger that. Will monitor," the Nuruodo replied crisply, then the Commander toggled over to her wing.

"Heads on a swivel, Two-O-First. Stay with your wingman and flight. Be ready to intercept as needed. We might have company soon."

A round of double-clicks responded, then Saber Squadron vectored further away from the planet to take up the outer ring of the combat air patrol. The elite Clawcraft squadron would be the first to greet any reinforcements should they dare to show themselves.

Rexus listened to his comms unit, "Looks like we'll be havin' reinforcements inbound." Wenck drawled, before checking his rifle. "However, we'll see if we can-" Wenck paused, and scowled. Twigg, was frozen solid. His gargantuan figure, a statue of fear and paralysis. "What the 'ell is wrong with you moron?" Rexus snarled. Twigg shuddered, and tentatively raised his right hand, pointer finger outstretched, and starring into the forest. "You moron, what the-!"

A snake. A giant karkin' snake. Albino and mouth raised. Rexus froze like Twigg did, before pulling himself into action. He was a survivalist. Not some mere animal. Pushing his friend out of the way, the snake slithered past. Apparently it was disinterested. But yet now hunted after the scent of Chiss. The snake slithered ahead at break neck speed, and Rexus watched it. "Bloody 'ell...." He glowered, before reaching to his comms unit, "Command, this is ALPHA, we have monster in view, headed north west at...." his voice trailed off, and he licked his lips, trying to estimate speed. "Real karkin' fast, brace yerselves, that village is gonna be meeting beastie real quick!"

Objective 2
THE LANDING ZONE
Without a proper spaceport, the Intergalactic Mining Conglomerate has set up a large landing zone in a massive clearing on Avidich. Assault their landing zone, preventing the reinforcement of their gunships to other locations on the planet.
X5BpgBb.png

Sinist had an idea, possibly a risky idea, but one that could very effectively win this battle quickly. He removed the tripod and beltfeeder from his rotary cannon, but didn't stand just yet. He lifted his comm to his mouth, communicating with all Marines around him "Right, so. What I want you to do is spread around this hill face but be stealthy. Effectively, I want you to be behind them and for them to not notice. For that to work, some of you will remain here and keep up the shooting. Those behind them will wait for my signal to start blasting them. I'm going to go head on with this gun and draw all fire towards myself and hopefully get shots off while I do it. Those behind will start shooting at the backs the moment they are turned to me." Sinist grinned as he watched a great number of the marines, perhaps three quarters do as he said. They all edged around the hill face until they were behind the enemy. Those who didn't move kept up the shooting as Sinist adjusted his armour. He sprinted down the hill, quite like he had done before, but this time he knew he wouldn't have any need to retreat. He opened fire the moment he began to sprint down the hill, pushing the gun down to control the recoil.

Many heads were turning towards him as he sprinted the force alone. Last time he'd done this it hadn't worked, why would he think it would this time around? Never the less, they all turned and opened fire onto this lone commando. Sinist had to keep there attention on him at all times, so cover was off limit for the most part except moments where he absolutely had to. He strafed left and right as he shot, edging forward in a shape that loosely resembled a zigzag. When the marines were happy that Sinist had held their attention, they let loose on the backs of the enemy. They were dropping like flies now, shot after shot piercing there backs and fronts. It had turned into a massacre.

"Wait, wait, Mars'inis'tlicu," Chaf'arcar'usorn shouted, trying to get the other soldier's attention, but it was too late. "Karking hell!"

The Captain gritted his teeth as he braced against the hilltop, blaster fire filling the area as the Commando rushed headlong into the fray. It was unfortunate, because Chaf'arcar'usorn recalled the ground forces had air support. Which meant Mars'inis'tlicu's mad dash was a death wish, especially against all those mercenaries and guards on the landing pad.

"He has their attention, Niners, open fire!" Chaf'arcar'usorn said through his comlink, regaining control of his forces, as he aimed his rifle. "Comms, get on the frequency to our starfighter support, triangulate and have them attack the landed gunships on the platforms. If we let those things power up and takeoff, we'll have hell to pay with the higher command."

"Roger, sir," Said the comm tech. He quickly dialed in a transmission, speaking coordinates and requests quickly. "Ninth Platoon calling starfighter air support on landing zone objective, repeat Ninth Platoon calling air support. Seven stationary gunships on the landing pads marked by my position. Repeat, sitting birds ready to be clipped. Copy?"

Chaf'arcar'usorn was shooting down range, popping up from cover every so often to squeeze off several shots at the opposition below. The flanking marines were doing their job, but unlike the Commando, were not moving further onto the landing pad. They knew the plan had been to call in a fighter run, so they didn't want to be in the middle of it all when things began exploding.

"Mars'inis'tlicu, this is Captain Chaf'arcar'usorn, we have air support bringing rain. Get away from the landing pad, repeat get away from the landing pad, danger close!"

Eriate looked at the operative and nodded. "If they have any sense, they'll be thankful and tear this place up as thanks. I don't see why they would be hostile towards us." She said before moving to the release switch. If the agent had hesitation, then Eriate would open the gates herself. Either way, they were here for an advantage and they would have it one way or another. A loud siren went off, as the prison cells would lose their ray shielding, letting the prisoners go free. Eraite moved to the door and prepared herself to convince the prisoners to have at it. She had to hope her agent companion would comply.

Cleru held no such hesitation, and simply nodded to his partner as he pressed the release. Soon enough the various ray shields keeping the prisoners confined faded. "Command... Repeat comm traffic. Did you say a snake is inbound?"

"Affirmative, Theta Squad Leader. Alpha Team called in the monster sighting from sector two-five-seven. They said it is traveling 'real karking fast' in a north west direction from their location. Over."

"Copy that... Will check and advise. Theta One out," Suz keyed back just shaking her head in disbelief and mild frustration. Non Chiss were so... well unprofessional. They had to be joking, right? Plus, it did not match the details given to them from the local villagers. But, perhaps there were more than one type of beast preying upon the rural populous of Avidich.

"Lieutenant, I picked up something just past the tree line. It's .......... Look at the size of that thing!" Theta Six exclaimed as a blur of white slithered out between the trees and onto the grassy plain just on the other side of the river.

"Stop with the commentary, Six. Report just the facts."

Flaz'suz'safis didn't have to wait for them as the fact of the matter was in right in front of her. The Marine couldn't believe what she was seeing. It was indeed a snake, a giant albino one!

"Defensive positions. We can't let the snake past us. Fire at will," she ordered, then a wall of fire suppression was sent towards the monster reptile. Was its scaly skin armored because it was taking a licking, but kept on ticking as it moved closer.

The snake stopped finally at the water's edge and reared up into a strike position looking directly at Flaz'suz'safis. That is when the idea hit her. If they can't kill it from the outside, then inside may be the way to go. She readied a thermal detonator, then waited for just the right moment, then lobbed the expositive into the giant reptile's open mouth as it was about to strike out.

"Fire in the hole!" the LT yelled, then dove behind an outcropping of river boulders praying her plan worked or she would be snake fodder, and that was no way for a proud Chiss marine to go.

Remi stood in the wake of the destruction the trio wrecked upon the unsuspecting control room. The blue skinned woman stepped over several fallen bodies, her eyes only taking notice of their positions to keep her from tripping over a wayward limb. A nod in her direction from Malicar told the Master Agent that they would be rapidly switching to the next task at hand as their time was limited.

“Get the data – hyperspace lanes used, other IMC mining sites, account information, anything else of interest,” he said before instructing their counterpart to guard the door. Remi did as she was told and went right to work. The woman sat down before a console and her hands began to glide across the keys upon the sleek desk.

Several security screens were passed through without a hint of hesitation from the Chiss impersonator. She was skilled at breaking and entering on multiple levels.

Once a main menu was accessed, Remi got to work downloading and copying file after file. She found a cache of information regarding hyperspace travel and took every sliver of intel available. The woman made quick work of the console, finding herself speed reading through page upon page of IMC mining site information. Maps, blueprints, lab results, photos...the folder seemed endless. Certainly, Remi thought, Malicar would be proud of her effort.

After dumping a barrage of account information onto the file transfer unit, Remi pulled the device from the console and rose to her feet. She knew that at any moment, the alarm would sound and the trio would need to quickly make their way from the facility. “I got all of it,” the woman said quietly as she nodded toward Malicar. Suddenly a loud droning alarm began to sound and bright red lights flashed on and strobed throughout each room across the complex.

Remi knew the plan. Malicar would have to shut the alarm down, but this was the moment the three of them would need to exit the premises. The woman collected her things and ran toward the door where she stood and waited for her fellow Master Agent. They had accomplished all that they had set out to do...and now the fun of making their escape awaited.

"Roger that... Inbound in thirty."

Squadron Leader Hess'elo'nuruodo and his squadron of Clawcraft-X veered off from their current CAP position in high orbit and went to ground to the location of the landing zone that was the magshift spaceport for the IMC. Seems the Marines were having trouble taking it. Not to worry, Air Support would get the job done right the first time.

As the heavy hitting clawcraft-class closed in on the large clearing, the sound of their roaring engines could be heard bringing comfort or fear to those in the area. The reason why the squadron was called the Hellions was because they caused hell when dropping their ordinance. Elite pilots with steel resolve they were. One would have to be to fly an unshielded starfighter.

The twelve Hellions came in hot on an alpha-delta pattern for their strifing run. Maser cannons and advanced concussion missiles targeted the seven gunships on the platform. They were hell on wings so when it rained, it poured. Hope the Marines had taken cover...

Explosions erupted across the platform in a beautiful display of fighter power. Some anti-aircraft fire had made it off, but with limited effects before it was shut down as well.

"Hellion One to Niner Actual... You should be good to go now."

UVYIu29.png

Malicar knew the alarm would be triggered by the intrusion, but there would be nothing he could do about it. When it triggered, it would be a race against time. They had to escape the building fast—the Master Agent had every intention of calling down an orbital bombardment from the capital vessels above. But that also meant the three of them had to clear the area before they were caught up in the destruction. The dart pistols had allowed them the time to save the lichen and retrieve the files, but egress would have to be loud and fast. Sliding his dart pistol down in the small of his back, Malicar gripped his blaster pistol in two hands and said quickly, “Well done. Stay close—we will not have time to stop. No time to stop the alarm…”

With that, the trio began running back down the corridor, blaster pistols pointed toward entry points. The turbolift was inoperable as a result of the alarm causing a lockdown of the most parts of the building, which meant the only way out was through the main door—or an unconventional route. The light armor that covered the three agents was affixed with a repulsor belt around their waist. The agents that came from House Vesnam had always been brazen in operations—this one was no different. At the end of the corridor was a thin transparisteel window. As the three came to the window, Malicar quickly took a roll of a sticky material from his leg pouch. Making a large rectangle shape with the material on the inside of the glass, he said quickly, “Stand back and be ready to follow me...”

His hands danced across the chronometer on his wrist. He sent the coordinates of the headquarters and a firing solution directly to the 2nd Fleet, 1st Battlegroup ( [member="Thorne"] ) poised above the headquarters. It was prearranged that when that signal hit, the ships would commence a precision orbital bombardment on the IMC HQ...which meant any second now, turbolaser batteries would begin pounding the mountaintop.

Voices and the sound of booted feet were coming up the stairwell. Malicar knew that would be a heavily-equipped response team, which they were not equipped to engage. Seeing that the trio was adequately far enough away, he tapped a button on his chronometer.

KABOOM!

The transparisteel glass exploded outward, creating an opening to the ground…thousands of feet below. Without an instant to consider the implications, Malicar sprinted as fast as he could and dove through the opening in the window. The Master Agent began his freefall of 9,000 feet to the valley below…

Remi ran alongside her fellow Chiss as they bolted from the control room. Whether or not she was impersonating a blue skinned alien seemed of little importance now as they were in deep together. Malicar, though a difficult man, was a good leader. The Shi'ido trusted no one, but would follow him...for now.

Soon the three of them were facing the end of the corridor where a large window stood. Before Malicar had a chance to act, Remi had already gone over a plan in her mind that she knew he was brazen enough to pull off. Sure enough, the crime lord prepped the transparisteel surface and the group retreated to a safe distance ahead of the inevitable explosion.

“Stand back and be ready to follow me,” Malicar instructed as he sent a signal from the chrono on his wrist which was immediately followed by an impressive explosion. There was no doubt in Remi's mind that the boots storming up the stairwell had heard what was happening and it had added a bit of haste to their approach.

Without hesitation, Malicar sprinted toward the window and Remi followed with McCool just a few steps behind her. One right after the other, the three Chiss dove straight out of the opening in the side of the building and into a gut wrenching free fall. The Shi'ido clenched her jaw and she felt the back of her throat go dry as her hidden fear of heights wrapped its tendrils tight around her chest. Remi held her breath and though she wanted to close her eyes, the Master Agent focused upon Malicar. Even at this moment, he was leading their team and Remi was set on completing this mission alive.
