When a small boy had burst into the Lion's Den, howling with rage and crying of demons who had torn through his home and left only ashes in their wake, Mysa had felt a compelling tug at her chest that spoke of the Gods' Will. There had been no hesitation as she requested men from her Father and set out on horseback before the hour had even ticked over, her departure from Heavenheim marked by Raé's thunderous hooves.
She could smell the smoke which rose in the distance, and as they neared the small settlement she tugged her scarf up over her nose and mouth and raised a hand to slow their crawl. It was eerily silent, no crackling of fire, no cries of man or beast, not even birdcall. She signaled their dismount, hitched Raé to a tree, then gestured for her father's men to follow.
The stench hit her before the wet, brittle sound of torn flesh and bone entered the fray - it was almost imperceptible at first, and even when she heard it she could not quite make sense of what exactly it was.
Not until a break in the tree line formed and she came face to face with the sight of a form hunched over the mutilated body of a farmer. It was so sudden, so unexpected, that Mysa did not simply stop, she took a horrified step back and found herself caught just shy of knocking into the warrior at her back.
This wasn't just another bandit's raid, this was a senseless massacre.
In a heartbeat she reached for her lightsaber, and the others followed suit; honed steel was drawn, then the darkness was ignited in a blaze of violet.
