What's Yours is Mine (Mandalorian Raid of Muunilinst)

The journey was a pain, but then again when was it not? Crammed into their ships, the raiding parties had endured the confined spaces with pragmatic tolerance knowing full well that the end result was worth the inconvenience. With a healthy amount of both luck and skill the raid would go off as planned and there would be full holds and few empty seats for the return trip.

Tayise felt the transition from metal decking to grassy soil as she stepped down the ramp and onto the world of Muunilinst for the first time in her life. It was an impressive city and one that she couldn't help to admire, a far cry from the mountainous regions she called home on Mandalore. Columns and arches stretched as far as the eye could see and she could easily see why such a place was considered the banking capital of the world. Skyscrapers stood next to squat civic centers and municipal buildings throughout the city and here and there stood natural parks of various sizes, some larger than others. It was in such a place that the raiding party had landed, their Orar'uliik ships slipping into atmosphere undetected and uncontested, their cloaking devices concealing their presence with ease until it was time to land. There were few of the ships, only enough for this small raid, but it was sufficient for the task at hand.

Currently, save for the screams and shouts of startled civilians, there was no opposition to be seen. She knew that their element of surprise was only limited at best, local police and possibly garrisoned troops would easily be here if given enough time, but that was an acceptable risk. A raid without some form of resistance was often highly unprofitable, yielding small gains and no glory in the process. The more resistance, the more there was to earn, but the trick was to balance risk with reward, for a dead warrior gained nothing more than the glory of the dead in the end.

"That one," Tayise barked over her commlink, marking the squat building on her map. Her HUD systems translated the sign on the front to show it was some sort of banking facility, a designation that usually meant money in some form or another. Around her the warriors moved, some to her target and others elsewhere. The goal was to hit multiple targets of opportunity as quickly as possible and then escape before the main force of any local navies arrived to blockade them. Not that they would be rendered helpless in such a case, however...

Security consultation was easy enough work. Except when things went sideways. Such as now. Banking facility number 86- designated by the company he was employed by, was a storage unit for liquid assets. Most money was digital in nature, moving electronically. But liquid assets, rare minerals, metals, artifacts- existed as collateral, or as things to be held by a particular party. Most of it was insured, however, Lancer knew perfectly well that most of what was inside BF86 was in fact, illegal. Probably spice. Probably weapons. Probably munitions that weren't allowed in most sectors.

Which is why he was so hell bent on making sure the bucket-headed Mandalorians didn't get to it. He had a contingency with him, albeit they were about as well-armed as he was. His job was to prevent them from getting inside BF86- and their element of surprise, lethality and level of violence meant that he was currently fighting an upward battle. He was racing them there now, his hands gripped tight around the rifle. He'd have to use a bit of guile and stealth, no way he was going to beat the Mandalorians in a straight on fight.

Then again, being a sneaky, back-stabby bastard was Lancer's thing.

The building loomed upwards, less due to height and more caused by the massive stone columns adorning the facade. The structure was rather squat by comparison to the buildings all around, but easily stood a few stories tall nonetheless. She motioned the warriors around her forward, the men and women spreading out along the flanks. She expected scared security guards, perhaps a few droids of some kind, potentially automated defenses. Any true, dedicated threats would be later on as planetary defense troops organized and responded. That said, her parents hadn't raised her to be reckless.

"You four, with me," she barked, highlighting the warriors in question on her HUD. They broke away from the rest who tightened up the perimeter as they moved. "The rest of you, hold the entryway and report any activity."

The front doors of the bank had already shut, but she knew it wouldn't keep them out. The facade was stone and marble, the doors made of some sort of reinforced material designed to replicate the feel and texture of an unknown wood. Tayise tried the mechanism, but the doors remained immobile despite what sounded like the faint whir of motors and servos. They were locked, but not electronically. She figured it was a built in mechanical override or something even as simple as someone burning out a motor somewhere.

"Open it."

She turned away from the entryway, arms crossed impatiently as the submachine gun dangled from the sling attached to her armor. Behind her a pair of warriors got to work attaching a breaching charge to the face of the doors, their movements practiced and methodical. She stepped forward to the edge of the stairway leading up to the building and gazed out. Most of the civilians had evacuated the area from the lack of screams and she could hear sirens in the distance from local law enforcement. She knew they would back off from the raiders after the first few contacts as they found their weaponry and training ineffective, or at least inefficient, against the Mandalorians. There was ultimately little to fear from the local police.

It was what would come afterwards that was her concern, and that meant there could be no delays...

The Mandalorian had the right inclincation- the marble, was in fact, a facade. It hid a multitude of defenses. The bank in question spared no expense in it's security. Unfortunately, the security team itself wasn't rated to stop a full on assault. But Lancer knew a bitter truth- the locks, the steel, the metal between them and the vault was merely a delay. It would not stop them- it would only make them work slightly harder for a while longer. But in that delay, Lancer hoped to eliminate the threat entirely. Or at least repel them long enough before the actual militia came. He did a brass check on his weapon as his men moved into position. They were outnumbered. Had to outgun them.

The layout of the bank was simple- modern, too. Square-shaped lobby, with multiple lobbies. Lancer positioned the PMCs behind the pillars on upper floors. And based on the movement outside, the Mandalorians were about to breach. As soon as the Mandalorians breached and entered the empty lobby, they'd be safe. But Lancer's men were professionals. Ambushes were about patience. They would be well into the killzone before Lancer's men opened fire.

Lancer himself, covered the only other entrance, a stairway. The bank was nearly air-tight. But that meant that Lancer didn't have an escape route, either. Lancer blinked several times, waiting. His hand gripped the weapon in anticipation. Lancer hadn't sweat yet- mainly due to the fact that the bank was kept startling cold. Kept people from staying too long. [member="Tayise Betna"]'s team lay in wait, both sides waiting to make a move. Lancer only had the advantage of surprise at the moment. As soon as that was gone, the Mandalorians would have a lot more on him. He was counting on his men, and their desire to live, on top of their desire for a paycheck. That, and he was damn good at his job and he trusted the men he was with at least to try and match his skill level.

[member="Tayise Betna"] however, might be a totally different beast.

The explosive charge sent debris in all directions, though mostly inwards through the door. It wasn't a large hole, but it was large enough for their purposes. Chunks of door skittered past on the ground as Tayise turned away from the city, her hands finding the grip of the subgun hanging from her gear. The four warriors she'd selected before were already through the breach, though from the reports and the lack of weapon-fire she knew there wasn't any resistance.

Yet.

She stepped over the small amount of rubble and into the building itself, her boots crunching debris underfoot. The foyer expanded into a large lobby circled by tall pillars and flanked by open balconies as the floors extended upwards through the structure. It was grandiose and architecturally stunning no matter where one stood or how one looked. It showed the financial power and prestige of a fine company and was as much a status symbol as it was a place of business.

It was also a kill zone.

Their goal was the vault and, generally speaking, the vault was located on or below ground level. She could ignore the upper floors for the most part, aside from the tactical advantage they gave, and move straight on to the vault itself. The problem was that the lobby was the central hub for the facility as it connected to the outside and her warriors which meant than any loot had to be ferried straight through. That meant they needed to control, or at least negate, the advantages here. That said, there was no way to know if the place was contested to begin with.

"Keep to the right, use columns as cover. Find the vault," she ordered, the warriors moving to comply without question. If anything was going to happen, she figured it was now or never. She didn't have the time to play the 'wait and see' game.

They had perfect angles on one side, and clicked their safeties off as the Mandalorians entered the lobby. The Mandalorians had picked a poor place to make an entrance. Lancer would've gone through the roof. Would've made the defense a lot harder, and more security at the end of their mission. But he could red-cell their plan all day. They were sticking with going through the lobby. Problem was, it was a square-shaped lobby. And Lancer's men were above them, angled. The Mandalorians only could move so far without running into an interlocking sector of fire by one of his men.

And they opened fire.

Suppressed rifles cracked, and they popped out of their cover- just enough to fire. Bodies tucked, non-firing side against cover. They were good. Lancer joined them, an accurate, semi-automatic barrage that went flying towards the Mandalorians, who were by no means unsuspecting, but also not entirely prepared for the level of lethality that Lancer and his men were going to bring.

Things went about as well as she expected them to go.

She wasn't sure if she heard the suppressed fire or felt the impact first, but it ultimately didn't matter. The burst struck her breastplate head on and yanked her torso around sending the muscles on her lower torso screaming. How she kept her feet under her, she wasn't exactly sure, but from the look of things at least one of her warriors was down. Thankfully he was still moving.

She flicked on her Dinu'ul as an afterthought as she assessed the situation, another burst sparking off the energy shield harmlessly with the movement. The others did the same as one quickly stooped to help the wounded Mandalorian. They were surrounded from above by shooters and, from the motion sensor feedback in her helmet, they were easily outnumbered. Unfortunately, the initial plan wasn't going to work in its original form, which she had expected. Fortunately, adapting to ever changing circumstances was a Mandalorian's second nature.

"Follow me."

The wounded Mandalorian was on his feet with the help of another warrior. If the others were injured or hit, she didn't know and they hadn't said as much. Tayise moved forward towards the back of the lobby and the reception desks, the warriors in tow. They were surrounded, but thankfully angles were angles. The pillars blocked shots from one side while their handheld Dinu'ul shields gave some protection from the other. The only serious exposure came from darting between pillars where one side was fully exposed to fire. Pillar by pillar they kept moving, not bothering to return fire just yet to avoid wasting ammunition. That would come later.

They began to peel, as their fires suppressed the enemy well enough that they were forced to relocate. They sustained a casualty. That was going to slow them down. He signaled for his men to banana peel out. One man covering, one man leaving. Constant volume of fire, until the last man had relocated. They were moving downward. Closing in on the enemy. They reloaded when needed, and took position- ten above, six below on the same level as the Mandalorians. They had to move through the offices to get to where the Mandalorians were, but that was a simple fire-and-manuever tactic.

The men up top covered the entrance, buying time for the planetary militia to get to them- hopefully. The six below, five PMCs and Lancer, took position while the men up top finished setting in to prevent any squirters from the Mandalorian's position near the reception desks. Lancer didn't give them much time, either. They were aggressive, their lethality matched by their speed and precision. He checked his ammo. Still had a majority of the first magazine left. By his count, at least 34 rounds or so out of the 40 round magazine. Their shields wouldn't do well against the PMCs slugthrowers for much longer. That, and they were stealing with the impact of the rounds.

And Lancer was about to bring the pain. The six men on the Mandalorian's level took cover in the office cubicles, concealed by the walls and desks, waiting for the men up top to secure their positions.
