Factory What template to use?

I am wanting to sub a custom soldier's kit for my faction's NPC troops and any characters who will be part of these forces. It will basically be the kit you see here and here but with some different weapons and different camo based on location. The powered exoskeleton in those pictures will also be included, but I'm not quite sure which template to include that in, or if I need to have the components subbed separately and then make a whole sub which combines them into the larger soldier's kit.

What I mean is that part of the system is a powered exoskeleton, another is a multispectral vision system, another is a uniform, another is a helmet, etc. Should it just be a bunch of subs that are parts of the whole?

Make a bunch of subs for the techs, then post an NPC sub for the unit, linking in the tech subs.
