LFG What is Needed?

Hello!

I’ve been writing on this forum for a few years now and would like to try something different. Rather than pitching another story arc or high-concept character, I’d genuinely like to know:

What kinds of characters, roles, or perspectives are currently needed or underrepresented on the forum?

I’m open to creating:
  • Supporting or background roles
  • Faction-aligned characters
  • Investigators, analysts, scientists, medics, or logistics roles
  • Characters designed to react to and support ongoing plots rather than drive their own

I write collaboratively, respect established lore, and prefer character-driven interaction over power escalation. If there’s a gap you’ve noticed on the forum or a role that would help your story breathe a bit more, I’d love to hear about it.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Have a great afternoon.

buddy characters are always fun, just a good old friend who is there with you going "that was awesome" it is rare aas most have their own things going on but when you can do it for a friend or a friend does it for you. some of the best threads. Xian Xiao Xian Xiao and Noriko have been doing that and the thread has lasted years cause neither of us wants it to end for our adventures.

The website is in dire need of stories that don't ultimately end with two or more characters fighting it out over something that goes nowhere. High tension, consequences, intriguing themes where something happens to you, or to a group, or to everyone involved in the story, where the resolution doesn't come down to a 'good' or 'bad' ending. Stories that have conclusions where it is nuanced, and you can't quite put your finger on whether it was right or wrong.

Themes that tackle tropes that are commonly associated to science fiction (as a genre) but gets neglected in the Star Wars medium. SW's strength is that it blends sci-fi with fantasy and mythology but tends to focus on the latter two with space, aliens, futuristic technology (and ideas) only being used to service what ultimately comes down to 'good vs. bad'.

I love space battles, Lightsaber fights, the Jedi vs. Sith question, familiy, friendship, betrayal... The ideas and themes we have seen tackled across the original, prequel, sequel and spin-off films/shows. There can be more that can be tackled in story. Trying to think outside of the box.

Specifically there are character types, organisations and scenarios that are neglected. Spying, information brokering, dystopian themes. Giving art and colour to why your faction, your character, your story tells that you are a good guy, or a bad guy, or someone caught in-between.

I've been vague so I'll give an example. The High Republic guys have done an incredible job at giving colour to the aristocracy that exists on Naboo. It isn't a side thing that people do when they aren't fighting Black Sun Syndicate or worrying about the Galactic Empire or Sith Order. You can really get immersed in this culture that gave rise to the (currently only) good guy faction on the board and how, despite their beliefs in democracy, law etc. there is also the bad. Bureaucracy, rivalry, and naivety. This is great stuff.

I also don't mean to toot my own horn but the things I have been writing with The Diarchy and Imperial Confederation are the stuff that I like. Mystery, conspiracy, misdirection, actual consequences for characters, complicating situations, high stakes politics, interpersonal connections beyond the "we're on the same side" stuff. Love and hate. Religion. Autocracy. Destiny. Yeah, this is good stuff.

Squad-based writing is extremely underrated in my opinion, and extremely fun when consistent. Writing either cannon fodder/elite members is pretty great if you have a group that you are writing with. Less focus on "I'm the person with the lightsaber or crazy stupid Force powers" and more on tactics/relationships with the people in your unit. Every thread it's action/reaction to what's going on and streamlines a story a little bit better. It's direct engagement with a set number of writers rather than the lone wolf types I see all the time that for the most part ignore everyone else to go aura farm or are off doing their own thing. That and it gives you a solid plot to write for any faction doing their doms, junctions, invasions, etc.

Currently I'm trying to use this character to write some villain based stories for The Imperial Coalition. Trying to get her to be a high ranking member of the faction and general thorn in the side of various people. Even ignoring the villain angle, I would love to explore her thoughts and philosophy to see where she could go in the future!

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo

well depending on the character

Noriko always needs someone to adventure with
Ayumi is working on Denon and always looking for worldbuilding and interaction
Junko is always up for more worldbuilding and adventure.
I'll also throw Akela for high stakes adventure and intrigue

Liin Terallo Liin Terallo If you’re in the market for corporate RP with cyberpunk vibes + Black Sun/underworld elements, we’re starting a storyline very soon and have plenty of room!

Alternatively, I write Kama Nu Kama Nu if you’re interested in science and research themed stories

It's been some time since I've done any corporate RP. It could be fun. Did you want me to create a particular type of character for it?
