As Mia's lips brushed against his, the world around them faded, leaving only the intoxicating warmth of her skin pressed against him. The gentle pressure of their mouths meeting sent a swirl of sensations through him—primal want and a terrible need that wrestled with the sheer desire to remain in the moment, as if anything more would turn to ashes in his mouth. But he was just a man. He wanted, no, needed more. Teasing his tongue forward, he instinctively deepened the kiss; a subtle hint of spices lingered on her lips, the remnants of Tihaar burning across his taste buds. His smile curved upwards, brighter than the sun in the sky, for all it contorted to the shape of her.

Slowly, almost reluctantly, he pulled back slightly, their foreheads resting against each other, bright blue eyes opened, searching hers. With every heartbeat, he was acutely aware of her, the weight of her gaze, the heat of her breath against his skin. He saw it in her eyes, the same want, the same heat that blossomed in his chest reflected in eyes that mirrored his own. His lips opened, a twitch, barely stamping down on the urge to run his tongue over the lingering taste of Tihaar, a reminder of home yet so intimately tied to this moment, to her.

Huh, maybe he would need to rethink his favourite drink—a second test was due, perhaps.

His fingers threaded through her hair, cradling her head with gentle care, as he tilted his own, slipping past the bridge of her nose and tear-streaked cheeks to seal the connection between them once more.

In the breath he drew away, his eyes opening to find hers, Mia felt her heart jump, heat spreading through her as her lips curved into a smile as everything fell away. The weight in her chest lifted, the sorrow banished to somewhere forgotten, and the physical world narrowed to just this. This moment of intimacy between two souls who had lost so much, but were equally determined not to let this pass them.

Their entwined fingers detangled as he slid his hand into her hair, lips pressing against hers once more as Mia let her need bleed through fingers sliding the back of his neck as she deepened this kiss drawing herself impossibly closer, a sudden wave of vitriol flashing through her at the presence of his armour.

Never had she hated beskar’gam more than right now.

She drew back from the kiss, just enough to breathe as her hands moved to cradle his face, thumbs caressing weathered cheeks as she tried to quiet the racing of her heart, to calm the burning need that was screaming at her. She shook her head, almost imperceptibly as soon as she knew it wasn’t a fight that she wasn’t going to win.

“Wayii, Itzhal.” she murmured. Her eyes opened, meeting his with a fervent gleam as heat blossomed through her again.

“O'r.” she breathed, the fingers of one hand, sliding down to the top of his breast plate hooking over it and pulling him with her as she backed towards the house. “Jii”
