Wet Paws (Nima)

Nima wasn’t going to die. Everything she said was to help, Tadi believed in her, but she lay there dumbfounded, unable to speak. An empty box waddled alongside them but they were both out of it too much to notice probably. That blank Tadi face went on for many hours, despite the nuzzling going on at her leg, and the small licking perhaps on Nima’s cheek, puppy breath, or wolf cub breath at least. Maybe they’d taken a liking to being saved, or could just sense how weak Nima was, either way Tadi hadn’t budged not realising or accepting any wolf cubs were still alive, figurative mask on.

Three had made their way back to their ship, three of five, one in a box, one mewing at their door, and another supposedly acting as foot warmer now, all wanting to huddle in out of the cold, body heat. Little scratches came to their door for them to open it.

Stormy winds outside and rain, lightening cracked off in the distance. Tadi reached over and pulled open their door, blank face broken into a closed eyed smile, lekku curving at the ends. In waddled in another wolf cub and sat with them. “C…cold Nima” tadi said closing their doors, she hoped that wasn’t Nima who was cold, “stay warm.” Important for Nima to stay warm, she arranged their wolf cubs to give her another cushion, hoping that was enough.

“Thank you,” Tadi whispered, not wanting her sister to think bad of their trip, she was hurting enough, wanting that one good thing they couldn’t seem to find. They had each other. That was all she said or thought more until dawn came, and paws and yawns were stretching up around the ship. “Nima?” Tadi said, looking around, feeling her hand to her sisters cheek, looking for fevers, whatever else the girl wasn’t she seemed to know how to check for injury, or illness, having seen a lot of it in their camps. Concerned looks over her weaker sister, hurting as she did. Whatever little water that Nima or she had on their belts, she made sure to offer up to her sister, last drip to her. "G...going to give you this, g..got to promise me you'll keep it s.s.safe." Tadietti took what was a small carved seashell from around her neck and put it in her sisters hand, giving her that to focus on.

“Have to get us w.w.water,” she looked out, and slide her feet up. Outside was wet from rains, but lighter to see. She'd placed the dead cub in their box, and took a live one into her arms to bring with her for company.

One foot out their door, she looked toward her sister in the light of the morning day, "love you," turning her head back around,

That's when they snatched her back...

Grabbed around the waist, her legs and arms began to disappear from view.
