Strengths: Hybrid Weapon- The WESTAR wa-01 is a wrist attachment that provides is a hybrid of part blaster and part vibroblade. This means that the user is never without either of these highly useful weapons so long as they have it at their side. It allows them to shoot targets at a distance yet still have the answer for those close quarters encounters without the fear of having either knocked out of their grip.
Weaknesses: Short Range- While the WESTAR WA-01 may provide dual functioning to the user, it is still a short range weapon. It's blaster compent is no more than a blaster pistol fashioned to your wrist, and it has not gained any extra range for its troubles. In fact the effective range of the shots are shorter than most other blaster pistols would be. And the vibroblade is limited to close combat so it can do nothing to help with this problem.
Description: The WESTAR WA-01 is a wrist attachment that was designed with a single philosophy in mind, versatility. In order to provide that versatility though, the question of what would provide that quality had to be asked. The first answers were vibroblades and blaster pistols. Both weapons have seen extensive use all across the galaxy since their creation. Both weapons are considered the soldiers and the bounty hunters best friend, while being the go to for personal defense of civilians. Yet how to decide between the two? This final question lead to the idea of combining the two together into a wrist attachment that keeps them out of the way yet always on hand.
The "Blast & Stab" as it was jokingly nicknamed was easy enough to design. Wrist blasters and hidden vibroblades are a common enough sight, so it was mostly a matter of putting them together in one device. The blaster portion was placed on the top side to allow for ease of replacing powercells when it needed to reload. Underneath was placed the retractable vibroblade so that even if the blast was fired while it was out the two would not conflict with each other. This was further given a locking system to act as a "safety" features that is common on firearms on a palm grip. The palm grip was designed so all of the features of the device from firing the blaster to making the blade shot in and out. The locking device was also attached to it and designed so it would not randomly turned on or off. To finish the design up, the palm grip and wrist portion of the device were designed so they would the user could still hold items in their hands such as rifles, swords, and rocket launchers without interference.
