We'll See You Now [Mandalorians vs The Primeval] [OOC]

I still need to read the book series...
Or just watch the movie for the eighth time and pretend I know the full story.
I hate to say it, but Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow are the best part of that series. I've read most of it... it turns into nothing but spy games eventually. There is some cool stuff here and there... but... The two main ones will always be the best. And seeing things through Bean's perspective is amazing.

Btw Anja, how close to the space station do you see your fleet? I had thought you were approaching from the far side, but you said you were stationary before. So... I know Strider's been wondering if he should start shooting things with the station's defenses and... I'm kinda curious if there's any risk of stray shots between the two fleets taking out the station.

I'm going to bed so any further questions will be answered in the morning:

I see our fleet to the left of the station (with the station inbetween the fleet and the planet obvs) and somewhat north of it too. That way we might be reversing into any long-ranged weapons there might be.

That is since our goal is to secure the station, we might have to offer support.

So from your perspective...

Mandalorian Fleet - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ {H] (] (] ^ ^ ^ ][

Primeval Fleet - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ }> [] [] ^ ^ ^

Station - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (|)

Corvette - ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ^

or... what? I'm having a hard time picturing how the station, your fleet, and Verz's fleet are positioned in relation to eachother. I had initially thought that the three were fairly equadistal to one another, but I think I'm not on the same page as you as far as how you're portraying your fleet.

Here - this should help us figure out where people are. I've been in a select few fleeting scenarios, and I've never seen one that couldn't benefit from one of these.

Muunilist is at F4
Space Station is at F6

Three things:
  • Each square is as of yet an undetermined amount of space.
  • Please tell me where you would like your fleet to be, and I will add indicators
  • No, these images are NOT to scale.
EDIT:
  • Beyond the UPPER LEFT hand corner of this map would be leading in the direction of the Mandalorian territory, and conversely, the BOTTOM RIGHT hand side would be where the Primeval's territory would begin. Neither of these territories will be colored during the usage of this map.

Naast'ika is heading directly towards the Primeval fleet from Muunilist. As I see it, with him having begun moving as soon as their hyperspace signatures were picked up, he's about halfway to reaching his engagement range. In... maybe 1-2 more posts, he'll be within extended engagement ranges (Long Range and HLR guns) of the Primeval fleet.

So... as soon as the Primeval Fleet is positioned on the map... you can probably put Naast'ika directly between that fleet and the planet.

[member="Naast'ika Laaran"] To clarify then, Nasst'ika was stationed on the planet itself and exited the planet to meet the fleet?
Above the planet.

He was in a low-ish orbit waiting to pick up a shuttle. Say... about the same orbit as the international space station maintains. He and his crew noticed the Hyperspace signal, noticed that the 'nearby' Mandalorian fleet was broadcasting their IFF signals from another direction, and took it upon themselves to investigate... by getting up to 'cruising speed' and then running silent as they maintained that speed (without producing additional thrust) and heading directly towards the unidentified signal. In my last post, the ship had just gotten within range of visual sensors and was still closing in while attempting to analize the enemy ship designs for 'critical hit' locations.

Can you clarify what shuttle you were using, ordnance, and total tonnage of explosives used.... as well as... Did you just self destruct the entire shuttle inside the hanger or did you do a shaped-charge against an airlock door?

Because... depending on the answer... you may have just blown the station in half.

Sorry for the late response, didn't get the tag for some reason. <_<

Anyway;

Pretty sure those won't blow the station in half. :)

shuttles are typically 15-30 meters long and have a cargo hold of 30-100 tons. 1 ton of explosives is bad enough... even just 10 tons would blow a sizable chunk out of the station. But siezmic charges? The spine/ribs/superstructure of the station would shatter from the shockwave.

Also, this is the kind of attack that should be spread over 4-5 posts. 1 post to load the shuttle and let the other writers know that a threat is on the way, 1-2 posts approaching the station, giving other writers a chance to stop it, 1 post of landing and preparing the bombs... giving the defenders one last chance to make a desperate counter...

then boom. (if nobody stops you)

As it stands... you gave no warning or chance to counter or defend against an attack that... is fairly substantial.

The station isn't that well built.

They're flashbang grenades without the, y'know, flash.

[member="Laguz Vald"]
Um... those really wouldn't do a whole lot. Basically would just stun armored mandalorians, maybe. Closer to the blast, sure, but farther away? Not really. They don't amplify, iirc, so they would only really hit a max range of the one grenade. I mean, the pilot is dead, but... everyone else is more or less inconvenienced.

Sonic? Oh, my bad! I could have sworn she said seismic.
