Weapon designs/ideas

So I'm trying to flesh out a couple of my creations, the Sociph species and their home planet Antisoch. Now they're very xenophobic and their planet's location is a closely held secret. Thing is I need a reason that that would actually be. So I'm thinking what could be so valuable that space traders wouldn't want to let anyone else know? Something that gives them a certain kind of edge, right? So weapons.

I'd always wanted the Sociph to be excellent at making weaponry, being almost entirely composed of psychopaths it makes sense. Thing is their specific brand would be pretty violent and have a certain something in the design. Their weaponry would probably be pretty efficient as they don't have much to supply power but, due to the whole psychopathy thing, would still cause a fair deal of damage with each shot. Kind of like how some Sith still use bladed weapons over lightsabers because they like the sight and feeling of blood. Things like that.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I have a vague picture of what I'm looking for but anything to help.

I can offer my company as an antagonist for this planet being xenophobic. We explore the galaxy in search of new planets and resources sometimes causing problems.

As for weapons, my company had developed Plasma Based weapons, MAC Weapons, and even Living weapons that produce plasma naturally (Bugs from Starship Trooper). Do any of those peak your interest?

Which of the weapon types you mentioned would cause the most amount of damage to tissue? Plasma sounds like it has merit. What about a certain coating around a metallic bolt?

A combination of Biological and Plasma would be the most damage. Something like Vong would be the most damage mainly cuz its is not something people really do and its can be both weapons and beast to send to attack.
