We need Force-healing, Stat!

Cathul had two means to cure patients: therapy and Force-radiation, which is really just Art of the Small allowing her to use the Force to 6 MV radiation on a tumor much like a cyber-knife. She was a baat'kaysh, and now governor of Azure. She could probably save on Azure's costs of providing public healthcare if she could use the Force for healing. But she had to return to her old stomping ground, on Mandalore. The Canderous Ordo Medical Center on Mandalore was a stone's throw away from the Mandalore Psychology Clinic since she knew the medical center had no psychiatric ward, unlike hospitals on Wayland, Ithor, Axxila or Alderaan. But, because she was back on Mandalore for medical training, she was not expecting any favor despite already having a knowledge basis upon which to build for using Force-healing. Brain diseases would probably be her starting point, being around so many mentally ill people. Maybe Lyth or Asriel would prove different. Maybe they have other bases for building Force-healing upon.

"Welcome, Dr. Thuku. Congratulations on you becoming the governor of Azure" the hospital's receptionist told Cathul, while wearing her gubernatorial garb, not suspecting that she will soon have to wear scrubs instead.

"Azure was an abandoned planet. There is one area I identified to cut costs on Azure that I could personally implement: that I learn Force-healing so that I could assume greater medical responsibilities"

"I see that you have brought some guests" the receptionist commented, upon seeing Lyth and Asriel.

"I assure you, they are not gubernatorial guests. We all want to learn Force-healing, they're all the same as I"

Asriel followed [member="Cathul Thuku"] close behind, the scenery was cool, but Asriel was mostly glad he was finally not the youngest one in a group. "yep! We're all here to learn healing." Asriel was excited, it had been a long time since he'd learned a new skill. It would definitely come in handy. The age gap between the three was big. [member="Lyth Meran"] was nine. Asriel was twelve and Cathul was thirty-two! "so where should we go?:" Asriel said cutting to the chase, Asriel was excited, he felt like a teapot except instead of steaming he was exploding. Force healing was always one of the coolest force powers to Asriel. "wow I can't wait, what about you guys?": Asriel usually payed no attention to his surroundings when asking questions. So he interrupted the recptionist.

Rianna walked through the corridor of the Medical Center today her day began by reviewing what supplies were needed by the RMSU units on Wayland, Myrkr, and the new Kashyyyk location. These were temporary set ups units that had many of the amenities that the hospitals did, just they were not meant to be permanent. There was also a supply call from Fett Hospital, and the Rekali-Gyndar Memorial hospital on Roche.

She slid her finger down the requests, there was nothing that they didn't have on hand, so they were approved. A request for another droid for the half-way house at the Tor homestead came in, she wondered for a moment where was [member="Briika Tor"] this day, galavanting for certain.

As she filled the requests, she also saw that she had three new students starting today. Students, force healing students. She wondered if they genuinely understood what it meant to be a force healer, if they didn't they would. The schedule called for them to meet her at the ER. Rianna liked starting in the ER it gave the complete impression about medicine for every kind of case came through, and every case no one was turned away. Since the Medical center was funded by the Clans, health care was free many didn't realize that. Same with the other hospitals, clan sponsored no medical bills.

Well, she hoped they would all be on time.

Rianna began making her way to the ER.

"I hope that's it's more than just using Art of the Small to either administer Force-medications or to repair the broken body parts of the target... Art of the Small I have a pretty solid foundation in"

It was because of something other than psychiatric distresses, more like they had heart attack or other blood clot-based kinds of things. She averaged one or two trips to ER with patients a month as a therapist on Mandalore. On Azure she will be all three of governor, therapist and ER at once. Plus Cathul used Art of the Small to cast many, many spells: the entire quantum spellbook depended on it, even though she learned Art of the Small using a set of quantum mechanics and QFT books, whose reading required the use of psychotropic spells (to Cathul, a psychotropic spell was one of Force-comprehension, Memory Enhancement or Instinctive Astrogation, the last of which could be used to perform calculations for things other than hyperspace routing) for most Force-users to understand but not to her. Force-refraction, mass change, Electric Judgment, Force-radiation, pyro/cryokinesis, and even Force-alcohol, which was nothing more than molecular modulation. She knows a few things about pharmacology so she could be all too tempted to just use Art of the Small to synthetize medications...

"I've had to bring a few patients to ER when I still operated out of Mandalore, so I know my way to that place. Please, follow me, they are waiting for us in ER" Cathul told Asriel and Lyth.

Rianna walked into the ER and looked around for her students, perhaps they were on their way. She would give them time, she nodded to the head nurse on duty, a beautiful blue twi'lek named Tiali . "How are things this morning Taili?"

A twinkle to those golden eyes, "We've had several patients come in for injuries related to Kashyyyk, two women ready to deliver, and a mining accident. Most of the ambulances are at the mining facility bringing us the patients, I've called in extra staff." Rianna nodded, "Keep me aware"

She knew Tiali was quite capable the mandalorian twi'lek turned a few heads with her coloring, her beautiful features, and long striped lekku.

"DOCTOR!"

Rianna turned, and ran in the direction of the yell. "Status"

Keep things short, makes it quicker to begin.

Rianna listened to the run down injury at home, salvaging from an old ship, the ship landed on him. The armor was bent, there was only so much tonnage it could withstand it was probably the only thing that kept him from dying.

"Get him out of the armor"

Buckles opened and carefully everything but the leg plate was gone. The staff knew to keep the armor together, if any piece were lost, oh it would be bad.

Blood was seeping out, Rianna put her hand on the leg, "take the plate off it was the pressure it's broken the bone, xray and reset it" Sometimes a little blood and an armored Vod really set up the interns.

Cathul arrived at the ER room, with Asriel in tow, seeing the scene of a bloodied, armored vod being injured and whose armor was getting removed. And, of course, the armor had to be cleaned and disinfected once removed from the patient. With a dented leg plate revealing the trauma the injured vod had, she knew that there was something wrong with the patient's leg. Probably one of those hit by the anti-vehicle rounds fired by the zombies by the looks of it. A few Kashyyyk veterans were telling her of Republican zombies, most of which were Wookiees. With the Force, getting the diagnosis right was half the battle. Using Force-radiation she could readily find where the pressure was applied by the plate: she really didn't need more than that to use Art of the Small to first make a platelet magnet in the Force, and once the patient's leg plate was removed, Cathul began using her magic for healing the patient's fractures: she found out that the broken bone was broken in a lot of pieces.

"This one bears the marks of the Wookiee zombie charge all right, let me use Art of the Small to conjure some Force-splint inside the patient. Oh and the patient must be immobilized for a while"

Rianna paused, "And who gave you permission to touch my patient." She looked at the twi'lek who seemed to think it was alright to touch things. Rianna looked at her staff, "Do as I instructed." She looked at the twi'lek again, "You have no idea how this ER is run you have no idea who is a student here and who is not. Many here are not force trained and need a different kind of training. This is a training hospital."

Rianna folded her hands neatly in front of her never once did she raise her voice, she merely stated facts, "first rule, if you're an intern you here you don't touch patients until I tell you to. If you're hear for training you just broke rule number 1. So now why don't you start with backing up and telling me who you are." Rianna took medicine very seriously.

[member="Asriel Dreemurr"]

"Oh, it's my fault, really. I am Cathul Thuku, I am new to the more physical areas of medicine, although I might be a little messed up lately, the pressure of having to rebuild an abandoned planet as the governor of Azure may have been a little much, but I want to undertake training in Force-healing so that I could ease the financial pressure of healthcare on Azure's government" Cathul said after backing up.

Cathul might have been a little too eager to actually make attempts at easing the pains of the patient. But she has no idea of the protocol violation she just committed, despite having the best intentions in the world. Besides, she knows Azure's budget is a little tight, and make sure that Azure won't endure undue financial distress. It was the responsible thing for her to do as a governor to assume as many responsibilities as she could. She was at once the financial controller-general and the therapist on Azure; the financial situation of Azure commanded that she use the Force in as many ways as possible to help her citizens. Plus the minute population of Azure allowed her to be as close as possible to its residents as possible. As a baar'ur in training, however, that was irresponsible even though she could readily identify what was wrong in the patient and apply the Force-cure for broken bones.

"We're not on Azure, sorry. Asriel, I will stay awhile just like you. And, while I could, as a Witch, use Art of the Small to power what you are about to teach us, all that I do know is that it is much more complicated than what it entails."

[member="Rianna Ar'klim-Organa"] [member="Asriel Dreemurr"]

Asriel followed close behind, they entered the ER. 'Woah' Asriel thought as he stared at the bloody person. [member="Cathul Thuku"] touched the patient, figuring out what was wrong with the patient. Shortly after it was followed by a mini-lecture from their teacher [member="Rianna Ar'klim-Organa"]. Asriel nodded as she spoke, showing he understood. Asriel didn't think he had to state anything about himself either, but was probably wrong. Asriel walked up to touch the patient but immediately remembered not to. Everything about the room seemed sad, thinking about how many people have died here. But there was happiness to it too, how many people got saved here. Asriel slowly smiled again and turned to Rianna, "so shall we get on with our lesson?"

The number of titles rattled off by the ones, why did Rianna need to know that. But seeing how she offered it all Rianna did not believe that she would have time for healing anyone, and that this was just something she wanted to do add to her list of things to say she could do. Rianna did not fault anyone for wanting to learn,

Rianna took a breath and cleared her mind, "Yes a lesson, tell me who taught you the technique of healing yourself." She smiled she wanted to know for perhaps it was someone she knew and would know how they were taught.

Everyone needed to do healing themselves before they attempted to heal others, it was like school, you needed all the right prerequisites.

She looked from [member="Asriel Dreemurr"] to [member="Cathul Thuku"] . Rianna herself had been taught by her Master in what felt like a lifetime ago right now. How many students had she had in the last 20 years. More than she could count on one hand.

Asriel got confused at that question... then realized that she meant the properties of it. Asriel nodded, "My old master... Asgore Dramanc" Asriel replied, he was again happy and sad. Asgore had taught him a lot, but he was dead now. Asriel shook his head out of it. It didn't really matter right now.

(sorry for the short posts, I don't really know what else to say :/ )

"Sabine Kurtass taught me the basic self-healing stuff, and I improved on self-healing on the field"

Except that Sabine is no longer known as such: she has reverted back to her Sith Lord self, Darth Banshee. Cathul wondered what would Rianna do if she 1) governed a hitherto abandoned planet whose only resources were marine salt and seafood and 2) your budget as governor of that planet was a little tight: what cost-cutting measures would she implement? Perhaps Rianna wouldn't try to do more of it personally. But Azure only had a few hundred residents at this time and, even so, her first budget as governor of Azure made the forecast that the population would increase to 30-40k by the end of this fiscal year. If the population doesn't rise to the expected level, she will find herself having to borrow more money than the 50M she already had by issuing bonds. She had to find a way to balance Azure's accounting books and fast: the Alor'e Council will remove her from office if the financial situation of Azure doesn't improve - despite the financial realities of rebuilding abandoned planets. Simply put, she was on a short leash as a governor.

Rianna did not know Asgore Dramanc, but she knew Sabine Kurtass. Interesting, "nice to know you both learned healing 'stuff'" Oh if she could have heard the thoughts of Cathul she would have told her that Alderaan had been Vong Formed and reduced to nothing, that affected millions of citizens, and how much it had cost the family and the citizens to rebuild. They were still rebuilding the right way. Anyhow she did not hear the thoughts and when it came to teaching such things did not interfere with what she needed to teach. Force Healing was not an answer to the issues of a planet.

"Ok, let us begin then on someone that has a minor injury. First thing to know is the Force Healing will not fix everything. Second you can set a bone to mend, but force healing does not take away the break, force healing is strong but not the complete answer. Time is required." Rianna began walking looking into the curtained areas until they came to her favorite kind of patient, a young child.

"Children are great to learn with. They know what hurts, and what feels good., they are vocal quickly. Now the teachers you had before what method did they teach, and Cathul I don't want to hear about the art of small right now. Not everything can be shrunk, this is the force that lives in all. As healers we use that force to heal. When there's an injury the flow of the force is changed, we feed the force to the injury. We focus where it is at to restore the force. A healer cannot revive dead tissue, once the force is gone from it we do not raise the dead. Do you both understand?"

Only Sith claimed to raise the dead.

[member="Cathul Thuku"] [member="Asriel Dreemurr"]

"Careful dosage of Force-flow is necessary then. Too much of an application can cause problems, just as too little does. Plus proper diagnosis of the injury is important regardless of how you use Force-healing"

Bringing the proper flow of the Force into the wound was the tricky part, when she would at last attempt it, and that caution meant Force-healing is contraindicated for curing necroses. Cathul knew that her learning Force-healing was a solution to Azure's public healthcare woes but only in the early stages of rebuilding a planet from scratch especially since it is public knowledge on Azure that she is a Witch. Actually for this reason Jedi Healers or Witch Doctors were the best fits to rule planets in their early stages of settlement or reconstruction: for those people using Force-healing as appropriate, yet as much as possible, was the most cost-effective way to reduce healthcare costs. And the estimates were that, on planets with public, universal healthcare like Azure, healthcare could eat up a quarter of the planet's governmental budget very easily, even up to a third if the population pyramid was elderly-heavy. Deep down inside her, she was beyond infuriated that her teacher did not think of Force-healing as a practical, cost-effective way to solve the issues of a planet under reconstruction, especially since at the early stages of reconstruction, Azure's trade balance sheet was deeply in the red - then again Alderaan was at a much more advanced stage of reconstruction than Azure was, and had a way higher population. But she did not let that in the way, and she couldn't tell when the patient could be touched either.
