There were many things Vakhari could use to describe Valaine, most of the good of course. But today it was time to attempt to iron out some of that bad, with the Sangnir having a very limited amount of understanding when it came to the force and how to apply it to make problems go away... Or keep your head on.

So far the doctor had been making her lab assistant and now lover learn non force related things, basics in surgical technique, biology, virology.... Not cooking however, Valaine did the cooking.

Now? Despite the stern warnings she had been given, the girl rolled with her gut when it came to teaching Valaine more and more. Today would be a good but basic- ahem.. Very basic start into a better understanding of the tools needed to help stay alive.

What was this basic tool? Being able to feel and sense danger without the need to physically see it, something that every force sensitive no matter if they were Jedi or Sith had to learn. The day had been set, snacks and drinks good to go for needed breaks, and fresh coffee provided to wake up the system on this brisk morning.

After a good night of sleep and no doubt the typical morning rituals done, it was time. Vakhari had tugged Valaine along to a place outside of the lab today, the extra feeling of the morning weather and the sounds of a waking up city would be extra tools for Vakhari- And extra challenges for Valaine.

And so the section of the Lutris gardens was theirs to use, Vakhari dressed up in her usual attire as she ordered around some training droids before approaching Valaine.

"Today breaks the norm, not going to worry about textbooks today."

The doctor lets out a slight amused huff, going on her tiptoes to give Valaine a kiss on the cheek.

"Ahem... Today I aim to teach you about precognition, the ability to sense danger before it hits you. Just about every force sensitive learns this, for Jedi they start teaching this skill even to their young."

Gesturing to the floating training droids ahead she would continue.

"These will take shots at you, nonlethal of course. I figure we start with one and see how it goes from there?"

She then offers a training sword to Valaine before going around behind her, needing to boost herself up a little again to tie a blindfold on to Valaine.

"All good? See anything at all?"

Life on Terminus suited Valaine, it wasn't much different from her homeworld of Jutrand after all. She had spent most of her time in the lab beneath the Lutris manor where she had continued to hone her skills beneath the careful guidance of her partner. Her progress had been steady but it was about time that she started to learn more of what should have been taught to her during her brief stint at the academy on Korriban.

She gladly followed along as Vakhari led her out towards the gardens. The doctor seemed more lively to her lately, ever since that dinner the Sangnir had prepared for them both. The young Lutris had opened up considerably and finally could their relationship truly start to blossom.

Long since had Valaine actually abandoned her typical Acolyte robes at this point, it felt somewhat unnecessary for her to keep donning them when she very much existed outside of the Order now. If she was ever working in the lab all day she dressed as Vakhari did with a long white lab coat, but for today she wore far more casual attire in the form of a hooded grey sweater and some tight fitting jeans.

Out in the garden the Sangnir's gaze shifted towards the droids that had been brought along; curious of their intention. She turned to look to Vakhari as she spoke and approached her, smiling warmly as the doctor leaned up to plant a soft kiss against her pale cheek that earned a light blush. She'd have returned it but the short Arkainian was always so swift in her movements that she would've had to chase her to give her one in return; but she'd return the gesture later no doubt.

"Ahh... Precognition." nodded Valaine, she had heard of this before and it was often why she lost her own duels; her reactions were based on her own inherent speed but everyone else had this advantage over her. "I've been waiting for this." she smirked lightly towards the doctor. The mention that the droids would be shooting at her though seemed to get a coy little pout from the pale woman. "It's not gonna sting, is it?" she asked as she accepted the training blade handed to her.

When the doctor moved behind her to start placing the blindfold over her eyes she dipped lower just slightly to make it easier for her to reach. Vakhari's height always seemed to amuse the Sangnir but she had gotten used to certain habits to help with the difference.

Valaine's vision turned to dark but her inherent senses were typically very sharp already, but she doubted she could deflect fire from a target she couldn't even see. When Vakhari asked if she could see anything she turned away to face the direction of her voice and offered a smirk, "Unfortunately not." she answered before she raised the blade in her hand steadily. "So... How does it work exactly...?"

Thankfully she had leaned down a little, making the process of donning the blindfold much easier for someone of Vakhari's stature.

With the blindfold firmly tightened to assure no cheating could happen, Vakhari scoffs at Valaine's response to her question.

"Good then, knucklehead."

The droid gets into place, Vakhari already had thought ahead... For as sharp as the Sangnir's senses were, they had to listen to the background ambiance of the city, making it much harder to hear and focus on the muffled purr of the droid's engine.

"It shouldn't hurt! Well-"

She checks her data pad one last time, making sure it was only to fire training blasts.

"It is safe, trust me. While it may sting just a little it is just a temporary shock, like when you accidently shock someone when shaking their hand and then it gets awkward?"

A rather specific example...

"How it works is that it should feel like a gut feeling, you should be able to sense incoming danger and or objects without needing any of your other senses."

With that she balls up her pale fist, making a lung at Valaine's gut before pulling her hand back.

"Feel anything at all? If you did, that was the force inside of you allowing you to feel without needing your other senses. Think of it as a web that spins everywhere, on just about anything. Being able to focus on this lets you feel little tingles within that web, even down to the emotions and thoughts that travel along its thread."

She taps some commands into her pad.

"As much as you can, I need you to focus on this thread."

Without more of a warning the droid fires a training round right at Valaine's chest, with Vakhari watching to record and analyze the results.

"It is safe, trust me. While it may sting just a little it is just a temporary shock, like when you accidently shock someone when shaking their hand and then it gets awkward?"

"Huh...?" commented Valaine, now blindfolded and merely looking in the direction of Vakhari's voice. "How does that happen...?" she asked plainly.

She then listened to the instruction for how precognition worked, and at the little feigned punch Vakhari made towards the Sangnir she didn't seem to notice it at all. Perhaps because the doctor didn't actually intend to strike her assistant and so the sensation of an incoming blow was never felt. She glanced around in confusion when Vakhari asked her if she felt anything. "Hm? Felt what? Are you doing something...?" she replied as she turned herself around.

As she tried to focus on what was being taught to her she continued to slowly turn as if trying to anticipate the first training blast from the droid, and it seemed she couldn't at all at first as that round struck her in the chest. She gave a light yelp of surprise as she reflectively tried to use her training blade to deflect the bolt after she had already been struck.

"Ow-! What the hell, I didn't sense anything...!" she complained as she tried harder to focus. Nobody ever got it on the first try... Her head kept turning, kept trying to rely on the senses she'd always had, learning to use a new one was difficult after all. As she continued to turn the second bolt struck her in the back, though there was at least the ever slightest of turns a mere fraction of a second before she was hit. "Ah-! Damn it..." she huffed in annoyance as she once more positioned her training weapon after she'd already been hit.

This was surely going to take her a little while at least...

"Ow-! What the hell, I didn't sense anything...!"

No doubt much to the chagrin of Valaine, her keen ears could hear Vakhari playfully snort out a muffled laughter. After a moment the doctor composes herself, feeling bad that she found the site funny.

"Ahem.. That shock when you shake someone's hand? Friction, it builds up an electrical charge. Sometimes when you are sitting and you- uhh- ok ok we need to stay on topic."

She once again gives the droid's systems a check, did it really hurt that bad? There was no way in hell she wanted to find out, being the far less pain tolerant of the two.

"Alright... Let me see if I can tweak this more."

Truth was, it only had two settings. Lethal, and training. For now she would use her power in the force to lower the power in the systems, making the blast have hardly any sting at all.

"Lenses.. Adjusted! I saw that you felt something during that second blast, try to recall that gut feeling for me. Let it sink into you, let me paint a picture for you."

The droid is put on hold for a moment.

"Imagine the world around you, take in the senses you feel. The garden, me, all of it. Now try to imagine you have your own personal bubble around you, imagine just how sensitive this bubble is- Any little ripple, any slight motion within it? You feel it, the ripple echos across your very being. It isn't just your eyes and ears that sense this disturbance, but your very being."

After giving her partner a moment to see if this visualization helped, the droid fires off three rounds. One at the right arm, one at the chest, the last at the left leg.

Any pain should be reduced, as Vakhari not only manually lowered the power, but also used their bond to act as a cooling salve against Valaine's skin.

"Ahem.. That shock when you shake someone's hand? Friction, it builds up an electrical charge. Sometimes when you are sitting and you- uhh- ok ok we need to stay on topic."

"Huh? Who's hand are you touching besides mine?" asked Valaine with a smug grin, knowing full well how Vakhari felt about physical contact. She then waited in silence as the doctor adjusted the strength of the droids. In truth it hadn't stung the Sangnir too much, she was just being dramatic about it.

"Lenses.. Adjusted! I saw that you felt something during that second blast, try to recall that gut feeling for me. Let it sink into you, let me paint a picture for you."

Her attention shifted back towards Vakhari as she held her training weapon at the ready. "Mm? I did?" she asked, somewhat unaware of her own ability. It was likely that the Force Bond between the two was doing its part in granting her a sense of the Force she had never known, for the young Lutris after all was rather powerful in that aspect.

She focused as her partner tried to describe the state of mind one needed to be in to be able to tap into this part of the Force, something the Sangnir had never done before despite how novice the technique itself was. She built up the mental image and tried to shut out all that did not pertain to the test itself. Naturally she kept Vakhari's presence in her mind at all times and so she was very well aware of her still.

A steady breath was breathed as she braced herself for the bolts. She didn't try to anticipate them as she normally would this time, but try to lock in on that gut feeling instead. When the first bolt fired Valaine's hands moved at the correct time but she failed to meet the round as it struck her arm, narrowly missing it with the training weapon. As a result she was caught off-guard by her own failing and likewise missed the one aimed at her chest by virtue of being just a little too slow.

It was the final one that showed some promise as she swung the weapon low in a sweeping arc that covered much space and caught the round as it deflected it into the ground instead.

There was a pause of consideration from Valaine before she spoke, "... Did I get it...?" she asked.

The doctor bit at her lip in anticipation as the first round flew out from the droid, a spark of excitement filling her chest as Valaine actually had moved! It- Well it still struck her but she did move!

Leaning in fully to so anxiously examine the next round, she was left a little disappointed that it had so easily struck right into their chest... Typically before all of this she would have only felt a type of disappointment that was most often given to her projects... Just tools. Tools that were failing, imperfection staining her mood. Valaine was separate from that, what the girl's eyes saw was the potential future looked like if she didn't tutor the Sangnir more. The death of the only person she held dear in this rotted corpse of a galaxy, it would not take her, not under Vakhari's watch.

The sour and dour feeling that sunk into her chest was quickly pushed away as she saw with her very eyes a wonderous thing- The blade... It perfectly deflected the blast! Did the little meditative picture do the trick?

"Yes! Better results! Again!"

A pale finger joyfully mashed the button, two droids now sending shots at Valaine. Each firing off a bust of three at random locations on the body, what was equally a burst of energy would be the now giddy doctor bouncing with excitement in the corner.

No doubt her partner could feel such joy between the bond they shared, perhaps a good motivator?

A smile crossed the young Sangnir's features at hearing the confirmation that she had indeed deflected her first bolt, and indeed she could feel the uplift of joy in her partner through the bond they shared. To feel that the Lutris was genuinely happy was always something that never failed to warm her heart; so much so it was rather distracting...

She hadn't realized that amidst her excitement Vakhari had pushed the button several times and given more droids the order to fire upon her, something she most certainly wasn't prepared for! She did about as well as could be expected of a novice as a result. When the first round came she felt it more keenly this time for now she had an idea on what that gut feeling actually was. She turned and managed to deflect the first bolt, but then came one from another droid and she couldn't turn to meet it in time as it struck her, and then another struck her- and then again. Her failure compounded further failure as she panicked.

The flurry of shots was just a little too overwhelming for the pale woman as she only successfully halted one of six, and after they stopped firing she pouted as her shoulders slumped whilst looking in Vakhari's general direction. "Wh- What the hell was that? Did they break or something? They just went all rapid-fire on me...!" she huffed, feeling a sense of personal disappointment overcome the success she had just felt. Was she meant to have been able to deflect them all already? Doubt seeped into her thoughts.

"Mmm... I'm sorry I keep messing up 'Khari..." she commented as she turned to try and take a ready stance once more. She was prepared to continue but she was certainly a little disheartened by failure this time and no doubt the Arkanian could sense it.

Her little fit of energy halted as Valaine was clearly upset, Vakhari being sure to gently pull up the blindfold using the force before approaching... No risk in being swacked on the head, right?

"No no no! You did fine! Every great project always has its testing and prototype phases, right?"

She tries to be reassuring in the only way she knows, in her lab nerd speak.

"The fact that you got one even though it was such a rapid burst? It is a good sign!"

The girl presses herself up against the pouting Sangnir, giving a comforting hug. Truly a luxury only Valaine got to experience and enjoy- Vakhari hated touching other people.

"Everyone is subject to messing up, happens all the time in the lab! Remember?"

Resting her head against Valaine she sighs.

"Look.. I- I know this is the basics, but we all have to start somewhere. And now that you have me you can get that start, late bloom yes... But I am always with you, every step of the way. That way in the future there won't be as many mistakes, you'll get there... Promise."

Leaning up on her tip toes she gives Valaine another kiss, this time softly on the lips. And now that the moody Sangnir was hopefully buttered up....

"I may have also gotten a little excitable with my use of the button."

The doctor says, her voice almost at a whisper as she hoped to not get a smack on the head for going a little over the top with the testing.

The young Sangnir blinked as the blindfold was lifted from her eyes, able to once more see Vakhari before her. She gave the short woman a playful little pout in response to her words, she wasn't actually that upset. "Oh... I did get one didn't I?" she answered as she peered to one of the droids and then the training weapon in her hand. "Probably because I had so much help from you, I think." she smirked softly.

As Vakhari moved in to give Valaine a gentle and comforting hug the Sangnir eagerly wrapped her own arms around the doctor in response, delighting in the warmth of her form against her own. Vakhari always looked so delicate, so short and pure in everything she did, it often had the Sangnir just wanting to embrace her with every chance she got.

"Look.. I- I know this is the basics, but we all have to start somewhere. And now that you have me you can get that start, late bloom yes... But I am always with you, every step of the way. That way in the future there won't be as many mistakes, you'll get there... Promise."

She couldn't help but smile at such words, to think that the previously distant and generally uninterested Lutris was now here, holding her and offering words of encouragement, it made her heart flutter with adoration for the woman. She brought a hand up to stroke gently through Vakhari's long snowy hair, brushing through it in a delicate and caring manner.

"I believe you, 'Khari. Always struggled with the Force but... This... Thing? We have between us now," she referred loosely to the Force Bond, she didn't after all know it even had a name, "It helps a lot. Makes me feel more... potent? I'm not really sure how it works..." she added. Previously the Force had been so difficult for her to grasp, but that bond had opened up what felt like new doors for the Sangnir.

As the short doctor stood on her toes to lean up and offer a kiss Valaine more than happily obliged; being able to actually return it this time. She leaned down to plant her soft lips firmly against Vakhari's as she delighted in the intimacy the two now shared. If the Sangnir was ever at all truly upset then this was certainly a suitable salve for such emotions. After the kiss broke she smiled happily down towards her lover.

"I may have also gotten a little excitable with my use of the button."

A light huff of amusement escaped Valaine's lips as she brought a hand to gently brush the back of her delicate fingers against Vakhari's pale cheek. "... I guessed as much, but it's okay, I forgive you~." she chimed in response. She continued to hold her partner in her arms a while longer as she took a moment to glance around and appreciate the Lutris gardens they stood within, the hum of the city was rather distant and it only brought up a singular thought; "It's pretty quiet out here, huh...?".
