OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Name: Water of Life Potion
  • Manufacturer: Mandragora
  • Affiliation: Confederacy of Independent Systems
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Minor
  • Material: Water from the Falls of Vureshakkairn Castle
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  • Classification: Medicinal Supplies
  • Method of Consumption: Orally, Injected, or Dermal Contact
  • Average Life: The healing lasts indefinitely, but lingers in the body for only a few minutes.
  • Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: The Water of Life is a healing elixir originally developed by the Nightsisters of Dathomir. Those that migrated to Ryloth and joined with the Mandragora learned of another way to recreate the miraculous liquid without requiring the ritual act of slaying The Sleeper. There is no appreciable nutritional value to the Water. There are no known allergens or side effects, but it is possible certain creatures allergic or adverse to healing effects or compounds would exhibit deleterious effects.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Can heal injuries similar to bacta, but potentially faster (especially in larger doses).
  • Is useful even in small doses; its effectiveness varying depending on the severity of the wound.
STRENGTHS
  • Band Aid - In small doses (a single 0.4 fluid ounce vial) can stop the bleeding and mend minor wounds, and even dull the pain of larger wounds or breaks within seconds.
  • Trauma Kit - In larger quantities (e.g 2 fluid ounces) it can stop the bleeding and mend even larger wounds, breaks, or physical trauma. The effects can begin to take place immediately, but may require a minute to complete.
  • Alternative Medicine - Those suffering from an allergy to bacta would find this a welcome alternative.
WEAKNESSES
  • Supplies Are Limited - While the Falls of Vureshakkairn Castle may be the source, it requires a knowledgeable member of the Mandragora to perform the proper preparation to bring out the true potency. There are only so many potions that can be prepared at any given time as a result, which prevents this from being a wide-spread replacement for Bacta (much to that Viceroy's relief). Often supplies are limited to Confederate services personnel who are on the front line and in need of a variety of medicinal supply lines.
  • Miraculous, But Not All Powerful - The healing power of the Water does not mean it absolves a body of all suffering. Wounds can be mended, and boned knitted, but the body must still recover from the shock and trauma it endured. This can take time, and may leave a patient still feeling stiff, sore, or even lethargic. Whenever possible it is advisable for someone suffering from significant injury to rest and be tended by a healer to ensure a sufficient dosage was administered.
DESCRIPTION
The Nightsisters of Dathomir have traditionally fashioned the Water of Life from Water and the flesh of The Sleeper gathered by a young Nightsister passing her trials. This potent brew has even been known among the Witches of Dathomir to bring the recently departed back to the land of the living. For those that have left those dark shores, however, such a boon seemed lost to them. Until a Witch from Dathomir that had passed into the Nether found a way to instill the power of Life into Water by other means. At first this required a dark ritual, but with time among the Mandragora the waters surrounding Caer Badru came to possess the fundamentals necessary to recreate this miraculous concoction.

The Water of Life made on Ryloth requires a member of the Mandragora familiar in the art of potion making to distill the life-sustaining and restorative power of the water pooled about
Caer Badru. This requirement limits the amount that can be created in mass. Nevertheless, the Witches and Warlocks fashion as much as they can to help supplement the Confederate forces, or those the Confederacy decides to share this boon with. The people of Ryloth also receive a share of these potions as the Mandragora watch over those whose world they commune with on a daily basis.

It is a potion that can heal wounds both small and large depending on the quantity imbibed orally (the most effective method), by injection (slowly), or by contact with an open wound. Yet while the potion can heal such wounds, the toll on the body remains. Food, water, and rest are often urged after receiving the healing to allow the body to bolster lost fluids and nutrients as a result of their injury.
