The Senate Building
Office of the Captain of the Senate Guard

"They're outdated. All of them. How the heck would we be able to fight against crime with these wrecks? One Sith will destroy us in a matter of moments," Dagos panicked as he walked in circles in the middle of his bright white office. The mysterious woman whom she'd not met countless times during his time in office was once again sitting in the office, trying to help the man as best as she could.

"Don't worry. You assigned a meeting with the Raaf. Everything will be alright," the woman noted as she rose from her seat, once again wearing this bright red tight dress. "I will leave -- the meeting will be yours to have, I will not help you out nor distract you in any way."

"How the hell you suppose I would be able to do all of that without you?" Dagos asked as the woman marched to the door, who then shrugged and left the room. Through the wall, though, he could hear, "It's your job, not mine."

The man sighed as he tried to calm down while taking a seat on her chair. Indeed, it was his job to handle such meetings and all the projects. Yet... he was still so new to all of that. He'd never had to make such decisions, he'd never had to represent the Republic or one of its units in anything. Now he had to talk to a person so important. And what made the situation even worse for him was the fact that this meeting would have huge effects on the whole Republic.

He looked at the blueprints of the outdated ships the Senate Guard had been using for a while now and all he could do was think how stupid they were. In a galaxy which progressed so fast, having such ships was the worst thing that could be.

He had to hope the meeting would be the first step towards the better tomorrow.

It wasn't everyday that Taeli came to the ... third capital? of the Republic, but she hadn't been able to say no to the request from the new head of the Senate Guard for a meeting. Chazwa actually felt a bit like home, at least in the snowiness of the world. Lorrd wasn't exactly the warmest place in the galaxy, but that was by the by.

She wasn't here as a Jedi, but her lightsaber was still attached to the belt she wore around the waist of her green dress. It showed that even though this was a business meeting where her loyalties laid ultimately. The datapad in her hand was conveniently looking over the same data that the Guard Captain was looking over, but she didn't know that. Old, outdated, obsolete ... all those words leapt to her mind as she reviewed them. No wonder they wanted an upgrade and had reached out to Aurora Industries. They needed new tech to combat enemies that might target the Senate.

That made her pause for a moment.

The Republic was almost exhausted in starship producers and shipyards after the constant losses in the war, hmmm food for thought there. Still, making her way to the designated office, she started ticking off ideas for what the Guard might be looking for. She continued to do this all the way t the office, waiting patiently outside to be invited in.

Dagos took one final glance at the blueprints before she took out the brief and simple little overview of what he waited from the new Senate Guard equipment. The list had been put together along with some specialists who merely suggested what the Guard should update and what not. The last decision was to be made by the Captain himself. And ship were their main priority since all they had were some leftover pieces from the Galactic Republic Military.

He took a deep breath before he alerted his secretary to invite Taeli Raaf in. He'd tried to keep his desk clear -- now there were very few things on it, the blueprints and technical data of the previous ships included.

As the woman would make it to the office, he would make his way towards the door to go and greet the woman. After all, it was important to handle possible sponsors and contractors with care and politeness. He would have never wanted to leave a bad first impression. Especially if his reputation was so influential at forming the whole Senate Guard's reputation.

"Miss Raaf, I am pleased to meet you!"

"Captain ... Nasscar, yes?" Taeli asked, making sure she had the name correct. With how things were transitioning in the Republic after the recent military disasters, it was hard to keep track of who was in what positions nowadays. "I assure you, the pleasure is all mine. But please, just Taeli. I wouldn't be remiss to being called Master or Miss Raaf here."

After introductions were made, she took in the rather sparse office of the new Senate Guard captain. Technical blueprints were on the desk, but few other things. Either he was just getting used to the role or the man believed in few personal effects.

"So how can I and Aurora Industries help you today?" she asked. "I was looking over your current equipment manifest and ... sorry to say I cringed a little. You'd think protection of the Senate would be a priority for the government."

The man moved alongside the woman until they reached the desk, after which he would motion the woman to take a seat. He himself proceeded to the other side of the desk, to his own seat coated with blue leather. Kind of iconic, somewhat odd.

"Truth to be told, when I first received the complete list of our equipment, my reaction was no better. But as our budget is not yet used up, I thought to take on the process of updating our little armory and start off with ships."

He took one more glance at the overview he'd made before he would set the old technical data away.

"I know you are a trusted company and make quality starships. That's exactly why I decided to contact you. I am not sure whether you have had any experience with making law enforcement starships in the Aurora Industries, but starships like that are what we are looking for right now. While we are mostly situated around the Senate Building, there is still a lot of security work to be done."

He cleared his throat. Ever after his first meeting -- with the Prime Minister -- he had decided to be slightly more polite and careful of what words he chose to use. He would have never spoken like that in real life, but this situation demanded something different. And even though they had decided to use first names, there was no way he could take this meeting as a 'chat' or a simple everyday situation.

"I see," Taeli said, taking the offered seat and placing her datapad on the arm of it. "Law enforcement agencies have not really reached out to us, many of them only need speeders and such, so they don't really come my way. However, I'd be perfectly happy to come up with some ideas to help the Senate Guard in their security duties. What exactly would you be looking for?"

She had a few ideas, but she wanted to hear from the Captain first.

"What capabilities would you want such ships to have?" she added. "Would you want them to be hyperspace capable for example?"

"Going into hyperspace would be a huge bonus. Most of all, we are in need of something fast and light. Nothing huge -- we don't need star destroyers or cruisers. Perhaps a corvette or so. No huge emphasis should be put on weapons, but it should still be able to defend itself for a while," Dagos made an abridged overview of what he waited from the starships.

"I am no expert at such a fields, so what do you think? Would such a thing be doable?" Sometimes he tended to worry a little bit too much. His lack of knowledge about starships and vehicles in general was a huge drawback at many times, of course making him feel a little bit insecure when talking about such things. But he had to be confident.

He could have sent a scientist from the Senate Guard Headquarters to the meeting, but that would have left a bad taste in his mouth. He wasn't a fan of being represented by somebody else, especially if the only reason behind that would have been his lack of knowledge about the matter.

"So a corvette or frigate at most," she said, adding a note to her datapad with a digipen. "Fast and maneuverable, hyperdrive capability highly appreciated for other ships. Hmmm, would you also want a type of starfighter and dropship for the Guard's use as well, escort duty and insertion into trouble spots would be in your line of work I would imagine."

She could feel the nervousness and insecurity from the man, but he was doing fine by her measure. Everyone had something they weren't knowledgeable about ... except in her case, if she didn't know something she would go out of her way to learn about it.

"All of those would be very easily doable," she continued, adding another note to her datapad.

The man nodded. It was good to hear their needs could be fulfilled and that he wasn't asking for something incredibly difficult or nearly impossible. Yes, the Senate Guard required elite equipment, but that didn't matter that a company should go overboard with all of that. After all, the Senate Guard was not the only military unit of the Republic.

"Indeed, dropships and starfighters would come in handy," he noted as he himself followed the woman's lead and wrote a few things down in his own little file. That very document was one of the first things he would have to give answers about, so it was better to add to it and make it as detailed as possible during the whole process.

"I am assuming you already have a few ideas about the matter?"

"A few ideas," Taeli replied with a smile. "I'll have to flesh things out further with my engineers before I can really commit to commenting on what those ideas might be. You understand of course."

The dropships would need to be tough, able to fill a support role for the troops they deployed, and carry plenty of men. The starfighter should be fast and powerful, might need to do some research on that. The corvette or frigate would need to act as both a patrol/interdiction vessel and also a hub for the Senate Guard to act out if they were deployed en-mass anywhere.

"Indeed," Dagos said. "These things take time."

There was no point of getting everything done extremely fast. He'd just started, after all, and both he and the rest of his unit had to get used to him being in lead now. Starships were something they shouldn't have worried about too much yet. They were important, indeed, but...

He did realise everything took time.

Starships were truly not a matter of his expertise, meaning he couldn't comment about anything. Would Taeli have presented him with her ideas, he would have most likely understood nothing of that, not even speaking of agreeing or disagreeing. What mattered to him was the fact that they would get something which would work well and suit their needs.

"Well, all that is left is to sign the dotted line and transfer funds over," Taeli said with a smile as she placed her datapad on the table. "We should have some designs done soon for the Guard to use, probably the dropship first as it would seem to be the more immediate need for the Guard. The command vessel and the fighters will be next, so do we have a deal?"
