Roku

Possibly a fox
This can be considered a Subspecies of Amaran with the only diffrence being a highly adaptive biology that is influenced heavily by the eatch Vul's own emotions and connection to the force.

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • amaran_by_helix_wing-d5xytur.png
  • Intent: Part to go with a character, part because I enjoy world building, the entire concept behind this was wanting to define a character's home location and society to better expand on who they were as a character, and then I got distracted by thinking about the positive and negative effects a almost to efficient adaptive immune system could be

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Vulmarans, however are more commonly known as Vul.
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: Vulzollo-3, Original colony planet, since been classified as vacation planet.
  • Average Lifespan: : 90-???+
  • Estimated Population: Rare ( limited to a single world)
  • Description: Extract from Amarans Wiki
"The Amarans were a species of small, sentient bipeds who were considered both vulpine and canine in nature. They had four clawed digits per limb and walked digitigrade upon their toes. Each member of the species had a bushy tail. The black eyes gazed forward, and a pointed muzzle held a red mouth and narrowed to a small, black nose surrounded by whiskers. Two large, pointed ears stood erect at the top of the head.
Each Amaran was covered in variegated fur. One possible pattern paired red-orange fur across the back, tail, and outside of the arms and legs with white patches on the insides of the limbs and ears, on the snout, on the soles of the feet, and across the neck and belly. The fur grew short on most of the body with the exceptions of the tail and of tufted jowls."
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I primarily, they could theoretically adapt to breathing type II or type III will sufficient exposure, and depending on the exact location the same is true for type IV, though this would require for a Vul to be exposed and survive to that atmosphere long enough.
  • Average Height of Adults: between 1.09728 and 1.40208 Metric (3.6 to 4.6 feet)
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: White, cream, or light brown
  • Hair color: reddish cream, light fawn, cream almost white. Less common is various shades of orange, black or brown]
  • Distinctions: [ It is important to note There adaptive biology trait before reading this. Since it makes things allot clearer.
In general, Vul's are small fox-like Sentient's covered in fur, they do not possess sexual dimorphism but rather Class dimorphism, where the Vul in questions job, role and preferences heavily impact on how the vul in question looks, to clarify over there lifetime, a vul can start up small and twig like, however if they prefer being larger and musclebound then they will start to shift to become that ideal. The same goes with Gender and body shapes in general.
The two main sets that are most common to see are the General small thin appearance of the Amaran, while those with larger builds tend to be due to the need to life heavier objects. General colouration can vary wildly from individual to individual with most having some sort of totem or markings developing to help identify them to outsiders, though this is less common outside of the primary vacation centres.

Lifespan can varry between the average Vul, with different villages having slightly different lifespan, though this is generally measured in years not decades. there have been a few exceptions to this, records show one female Vul who married interspeciesly and lived healthy to over 200 years old. However, they rapidly detreated and died days after their partners passing. While the age-span is a exception is is not unknown for a vul to die quickly after a family members passing.

Vuls have a tendency towards extreme emotions, though it is currently unknown if this is due to their biology itself or how such extremes impact their biology.

A Vuls abilities are heavily reliant of the mind-set of the vul in question. Positive and negative emotions have the capacity to alter how they work for better or worse, sometimes mutating in rare or extreme situations.
To clarify Negative feelings in this case refers to ones targeted towards oneself, such as anxiety, lack of self-worth or self-image issues.
positive emotions can be classified as happiness, acceptance and being generally body positive.

Vul-marans are theoretically all force sensitive, however without training this only goes as far as their own biology is concerned, theoretically because they tend not to be force sensitive until told that they are or some sort of event or catalyst forces them to become active. However this has its downsides, The more force sensitive a vul gets, the more efficient a vuls adaptive Biology gets, and as a inverse, the stronger knockback Adaptive rejection gets.
Considering a Vuls naturally emotive temperament and being planet bound it means that it is a rare case for someone to seek out a Vul for Force training.
It should be notes that if a vuls blood was examined in fine enough detail, the Midi-chlorian count would be unusually high, this along with gene-engineering is the driving force of a Vuls adaptability and if they were cut off from the force for whatever reason, there Adaptability and rejection would no longer be effected or boosted by their own desires, causing it to stall to the level of making them unusually resistant to poisons or allergies in line with common medical treatments available to galactic citizens. It would also see a vuls temperament showing a steady decrease in emotional intensity giving them a momentarily feeling of tranquillity.
  • Races: Is a subspecies of Amarans.
  • Force Sensitivity: Standard / All
Strengths:
  • Adaptive biology.
Vul-amaran's have unusually adaptive biology, affording them heavy resistances to most common diseases and viruses. Study of the species bloodwork shows that when a foreign body is exposed to the species blood, the cells quickly adapt a membrane that fools the invading body into 'thinking' that it has ether already been effective or it is another cell of its type, Specialised cells then break the invading cell down into useful parts.
Similarly no vul-marans have currently been observed to have any sort of allergic reaction to foreign bodies unless they specifically have a preference against them.
There have been rare examples of a Vul coming out better after being exposed to a virus as there blood can take on aspects the devoured cells.
The most outward aspect of this would be how well their bodies adapt to cybernetic Implantations and augments from simplistic tech like glasses to fully functional cyber arms. As long as the Vul in question believes that it should be there and it is positive then chances of rejection are reduced to a near nil number, often working better than expected.
Due to the general low tech level of VulZollo-3 most of this will often be overlooked, with the most notable example of this biological quirk being how quickly they can put on muscle mass or change body features in response to a positive drive.
  • Empathetic
  • Keen sense of smell and hearing.
Weaknesses:
  • Adaptive Rejection: As noted, a vul's biology is unusually adaptive. However, there seems to be some sort of mental or psionic aspect to this as negative feelings can have adverse effects on the vul in question. Having a negative body image for example can cause the body's immune system to attack itself, specifically the areas that the vul in question dislikes.
(a before and after Image showing a confident looking heavyset vul then the same vul looking thin and sickly looking, the next set shows the opposite, a thin looking vul smiling at the camera before the next image shows one more heavy set struggling to stand up from its own weight)
Ironically telling a vul that it is infected with a virus and that it is dangerous is often more dangerous to the vul itself as its biology kicks into overdrive to remove this theoretical threat. Often causing fatigue or exhaustion.
In summary, when it comes to the medication and biology of a vul, the placebo effect has way more impact on the health of an individual then it has any right to.

It is theorised this has caused the closer knit community structures of Vulzolla-3 as a way of safeguarding themselves against the effect of negative emotions.
  • Prone to emotional extremes
  • technologically insular
  • Belief they cannot leave the planet has caused them to die upon leaving the planet.
  • More suseptible to sonic/scent bassed weaponry due to higher then normal sense of smell and hearing.
  • Has fur, thus Sheds, meaning more cleaning is required.
CULTURE
  • Diet:
Omnivores with a preference of meat, fruit and berries., can theoretically ingest any biological compound smaller then there head.
  • Communication: What exactly does the fox say?
Typically communicate though spoken and body languages. Vuls tend to have a slightly higher than normal ability to learn new languages and due to their biology there are few languages they are incapable to speaking given sufficient time.

  • Technology level: Tech on Vulzollo straddles a fine line between traditional and galactic standard depending where on the planet you are, aswell as if you are a native of the planet. Due to the first settlers haveing a generally tech negative stance, the settlers have had to advance themselves from a Pre-industrial society to the pre-spacefaring society that is more common now in the main areas of the planet.
There are spaceports to attract locals and there those are considered brief pockets of galactic standard tech, something mostly not touched by the average vul.
  • Religion/Beliefs:
They like their forbears have a reverence towards the stars and other celestial objects however there is common and possibly fatal superstition that a vul can't touch the stars themselves and are thus planet bound. (This should be notes as something that was dictated by the rulers of the original vulzolo colony in order to keep vuls from leaving, not expecting the now deadly price they pay for believing this. )
They are very community driven believing that community comes first, if one suffers, we all suffer. This partially extends to animals as well.
Spiritual healing is a well-documented phenomenon that works for them, crystals making the effect more likely (Note that during observation one researcher called this into question and walked off muttering about faecal matter when valid proof was offered.)
  • General behavior:
Vul tend towards a close nit family structure consisting of parents, siblings, grandparents and close friends. This is what they consider their primary family structure. The town they live in being there extended family, so much so that a vul will tend to have three to four names. Personal, Family and community. In occasions where a vul is adopted into another family or community they will add that family/community name to their own.

Young are raised in a mixture of Family and community environment, with the family acting as primary caregivers and the community acting more like aunts uncles or cousins.
Crystals are a big part of their culture and transitioning into adulthood. Many Vul having a number of crystalline structures of shards lining there personal dwellings.
They see them as the physical manifestation of stars and in order to transition into adulthood one must find a crystal that they feel resonates with them and them craft it into a totem (Typically something wearable) that represents them. Of course depending on the tech level and resources available to the community totems can differ wildly from settlement to settlement.

It should be notes however, that the vul in question is expected to find or earn all the materials used in this totem themselves, from the crystal to the totems case. Some allowances are given for the actual crafting process depending on settlement, but all vul are taught general crafting techniques for their villages tech level prior to this. There is often a family member or volunteer who will watch over this to make sure the young vul does not set themselves on fire or break something, namely themselves.

There are two exceptions to this. Precious materials or other tools can provided by the community as long as the young Vul Works for them, this is a fairly new procedure in the last 200 hundred years, mainly to prevent early deaths. The second is that a crystal given to a potential lover. However using a crystal in a totem is considered an acceptance of their desire to become a family and is not something to be taken lightly, similarly adding a crystal to a totem after it initial crafting has a similar meaning.

The primary social and economic structure of Vulzollo-3 is tourist focused to the point that vul are exposed to a large variety of alien species at a young ages, meaning they consider a multitude of body shapes, sized and languages normal and thus they have very little notion of a species body being strange or wrong. This does also mean they consider someone not of their community or at least species as valid targets for selling goods or services. This can go from all out scam artists to treating them as future customers depending on the vul in question and the community they com from.
Class dimorphism plays an aspect in a vuls role in their community, with more Lithe Vul acting as front ends, greeting and serving customers, while more heavyset vul acting on the backend, taking care of children, scavenging, building and the like.
The average vul will cater their sleep cycle towards taking care of visitors, some being nocturnal or diurnal as the community needs, some being a mix of the two.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
It is theorised that generic tampering was involved in the Creation of the Vul subspecies. Though the exact treatment or procedure is unknown, historical documents show that there was a link between A Jedi Amanian and the original founder of Vulzollo-3 but the exact specific ion have been lost due unrest and subsequent attacks on the archives (and if the jedi do know? They aren't talking. If your reading this and do know please contact me with details provided in the footnotes.)

Originally founded by Amaran colonists Vulzollo-3 has been transformed from its original intent as a retirement planet to a vacation hotspot that has burst onto the galaxy's' radar in the last hundred years.

The original colonists where a group of Amaran that pooled their resources together in order to enjoy their retirement in peace and luxury. While some of the original party may have planned to become isolationist that soon fell to the wayside after several years. Forming tight nit communities that few ever leave.

initial construction took years with supply companies being sent down to make sure the planet was hospitable along with the leader of the colonists, one Zollo Vulcentia, a then wealthy philanthropist and money barren. Fellow wealthy contributors joined the planet over the years until the project was deemed a success and the work crews contracts where completed and sent on their way.
It was then that disaster struck, The first crew to leave reported side effects such as fainting or nausea and in one case slipping into a comma before the trip was aborted and the crew returned to work at which point all but one of the Amaran in question returned to peak health. Further attempts to leave where met with more extreme results and despite testing, no biological compound was found to be the cause of this. Attempts to mimic zollo-3 atmospheric conditions similarly failing. leaving the now native Vulmarians bound to the planet's surface.

Several lawsuits would follow this that would leave Zollo Vilcentia near destitute but despite this no cure was found and with the inhabitant's credits dried up the planet was forgotten about until it was rediscovered by Ursa Smokes while on a tour of jungle planets to explore.

The thick Forests, lush water features, beautiful scenery and tasty fruit caused a surge in popularity that caused tourists from all walks of life to flock to this now ripe planet.

The native inhabitants had somewhat regressed in the time apart from the galaxy taking on a more tribal structure with pre-indusial era technology being the most prominent in most cases.

Settlements tended to support up to 200 individuals at most and typically built surrounding large bodies of water. Historical reports uncovered show that these where the sites original 'retirement' homes of the original colonists
Physically they are slightly taller than the average vul, with the heavier set individuals being up to twice the normal size and thickness.

Amaran tourists where particularly interested to hear about the legends of the Vul landing on the planet and the stars decreeing that they would never leave. Prompting a wave of new tests to be attempted to make sure the planet was safe to visit. Despite the initial scare no amaran has reported and issue with leaving the planet's surface, something that has on occasion caused bouts of jealousy from the native vul and pity from the amarains themselves.

In present day Vulzollo-3 has been converted into a vacation planet, the vast majority of the inhabitants basing their lives around the tourism industry, the most notable locations being the Azure Lagoon Resort, The Fallen Star Centre and the Tranquil Restoration Skyline, with small villages dotted around the landscape in-between, though visitors should note that outside of these areas tech levels can drop dramatically and can be seen with suspicion.
