OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a shipyard in which Vylmiran Technological Industries (VTI) will begin venturing into the realm of Spacecraft Production.
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: N/A
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Shipyards Name: VTI Drive Yards
  • Classification: Orbital Ring Shipyards
  • Location: In orbit around Vylmor, the second Major Planet in the Vylmir system, home to Vylmira
  • Affiliation: Vylmiran Technological Industries, Confederacy of Independent Systems
  • Population: Moderately Staffed
  • Accessibility: The VTI Drive Yards are conveniently located in the Vylmir system, merely a stone's throw from the capital planet of Vylmira. Though its location is not publicly broadcast, anyone familiar with the Vylmir system would know its location. Given the number of high-value assets around Vylmira, a fleet is typically on patrol in the system, making passing undetected a difficult task. Visits are typically restricted to business only, except by invitation from a ranking member of VTI.
  • Description: The VTI Drive Yards are the lone sign of life around the world of Vylmor, otherwise uninhabited due to its proximity to the system suns. Built as a ring spanning the planet, the design only features a quarter of functional shipyards, designed to build small craft class vessels. While the infrastructure is present for other foundries, construction has ceased for the time being. The overall design is rather plain and utilitarian, as the Drive Yards are not intended to be public access.
OPERATIONS INFORMATION
  • Production: Currently, VTI Drive Yards only sports the infrastructure to build Small Craft, but work is ongoing to add capabilities for larger vessel classes.
  • Specialty: Currently, this station deals exclusively in Small Craft ships, most of which are tuned for better functionality at the cost of squadron counts.
  • Output: The VTI Shipyards can output multiple squadrons per day, but owing to a limited number of facilities, cannot produce different kinds of squadrons quickly, needing time to reset the foundries to new designs.
  • Market: VTI Drive Yards manufactures ships for the Octarchy Covenant primarily, but custom ships can be ordered by Confederacy of Independent Systems members, provided they know who to speak with.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Administrative Offices: These rather stern and utilitarian offices handle the administrative tasks within the facility. Most visitors are brought here, and not allowed to explore the rest of the facility, except with special permissions.
  • Small Craft Development: The Small Craft Development wing is the only portion of the VTI Drive Yards that is functional and capable of production at this time. Boasting the facilities required to produce starfighters, this comprises twenty five percent of the ring's total production ability.

SECURITY
Low

While the VTI Drive Yards are protected by the Vylmiran Defense Fleet, there is no external or internal security, relying solely upon the aid of friendly fleets in times of combat. If one does manage to bypass the fleet defenses, boarding the station is relatively easy.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Built in an effort for Vylmira to become truly self-sufficient, Voph made arrangements for the VTI Drive Yards to begin construction during his recovery from the Battle of Tanaab. Only catering to Small Craft classes, the Drive Yards are meant to expand as time and resources are spent honing and refining their newfound trade of spaceship production. A far cry from VTI's usual fare of personnel equipment and armament, Voph wanted the production of his planet's fleet to be relocated closer to home. So, the Drive Yards were created to allow VTI the ability to add starships to their already impressive list of possible productions. In light of this new development, Voph has seen fit to test the facility's capabilities by beginning work on a project he simply calls, "Mark Three."
