SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Spun Cloth
Strengths:
  • [+]Stealth: Shade cloth is a product by Vanir Technologies that renders the wearer nearly undetectable under certain circumstances. The material is made with something called vantablack, a light absorbing substance that makes it extremely difficult to see the wearer within low-light situations. Coupled with this the cloth is also laced with Aurodium and small electrical components that absorb sensor reading, allowing the wearer to pass through most sensor sweeps and scans.
Weaknesses:
  • [-]Kinetic: Being a cloth, Shade is about as effective against kinetic strikes as...well absolutely nothing at all. The material is about as thin as Vine-silk, and when something impacts this material the entire force of the impact is felt.
  • [-]Sonic: Due to the make-up of Shade Cloth and the way it is spun Sonic weapons are extremely dangerous to wearers. The way that the Cloth is actually made makes it possible for a Sonic weapon to hit the exact right frequency, causing the material to reverberate and pass on an extreme amount of damage to the wearer.
  • [-]Not A Cloaking Device: Shade Cloth is not a cloaking device, it does not obscure the wearer from view entirely nor is it an active stealth device. The wearer can still be seen, it is just extremely difficult within low-light situation. Also obviously anyone wearing this during the day sticks out like a sore thumb.
DESCRIPTION
VT-Shade Cloth is a new product designed in the same wavelength as it's cousin; Lattice Cloth.

The Material is almost exactly the same as Lattice, with one great exception; the material was designed to assist in stealth operations. Production of this cloth was rather simplistic, adding two design components in order to fool both sensor systems as well as the human eye and various camera devices.

The first of these was achieved through the addition of Aurodium lacing and several small sensor absorbing coatings. The lacing is woven throughout the cloth, and aids in the absorption of sensor and scanner data. This allows whatever the material is surrounding to 'slip' through most sensor sweeps and scans. Though this method is not one hundred percent effective, it has been proven to be more than useful.

As a secondary stealth enhancing feature the cloth was also woven with a material called vantablack. This special weaving allows the Shade Cloth to basically absorb light, becoming almost impossible to see in low-light situations. This effect is constant, and simply tricks the human eye, as well as most photoreceptors, into not focusing on the Shade cloth itself.

Though not perfect, VT-Shade Cloth is an easy way to enhance an armors, or even normal clothing's, stealth capability while not detracting it's defensive abilities.
