- Anti-Tank: The SDC 13 is from the ground up designed to be an anti-tank weapon. The Shouldered Disruptor Cannon is just as it's name implies, a disruptor that has been sized up to suite the needs of becoming an all encompassing anti-armor weapon. The SDC 13 works off of the exact same principle and design as every other disruptor, albeit on a far larger and more concentrated scale, able to produce a beam that is nearly fourteen centimeters in Diameter. This beam, like all disruptor weapons is capable of penetrating through all forms of armor. Being a disruptor, the weapon does not cause explosions, rather it simply cuts a hole through whatever it hits. This of course can be extremely effective if a critical system is struck such as the engine or weapons system, but if it is incorrectly aimed the weapon can also be completely ineffective, simply blowing a hole through the enemy vehicle with no effect.
- Power: Being a disruptor, the SDC 13 requires an immense amount of power to actually fire. The weapon utilizes what is essentially a standard Tibianna powercell on steroid. Everything about the cell is bigger and it contains more gas as well. The weapon then takes this powercell and cycles through it, charging an inner capacitor with the weapon for several seconds before it actually fires. Once the weapon fires, the powercell immediately ejects from the end of the weapon, super heated and capable of causing third degree burns. The barrel of the weapon as well as the powercell slot then need to cool for a minute or so before the weapon can be reloaded and fired again.

Though currently, many anti-tank and anti-armor weapons exist on the free market, most of them have some backdrop or are incapable of penetrating heavier armor. This is of course an extreme issue when fighting on todays modern battlefield where heavily armored vehicles of all sorts exist, even some coated in Beskar. In order to facilitate the Mercenaries of Saeva Incorporated, and those other soldiers in the galaxy who needed to pack a bit more of a punch, Vanir Technologies began to develop a weapon that could work against all forms of armor.
The answer was of course, the disruptor.
Having previously developed and created disruptor technology Vanir was well versed in the utilization and creation of such weaponry. Of course these older developments allowed Vanir to customize what would eventually become the SDC 13, the weapon being built from the base up utilizing the same technology as the VT-Needle Disruptor. In actual fact, it would be correct to say that the SDC 13 is simply a much larger, much more powerful version of the VT-Needle Disruptor.
Both weapons are created from the same technology and hold the same basic design principle, save for the SDC 13's much larger powerdraw and usage. This simple increase in the powerdraw of the technology made the SDC 13 relatively simple to create, albeit it's first few variants had a habit of exploding. Eventually these more...explosive kinks were ironed out and the final product was created, a weapon that would allow even the most meager soldier to fight against the greatest tank...if they had good aim.
