Description:
The VT-Observation Satellite was developed, as many Vanir Technologies projects, out of a suggestion by Saeva Incorporated.
The technology that went into the creation of the Observation Satellites was neither unique, nor necessarily new, instead the compilation and utilization of the technology in the manner of the Observation Satellite is what makes the technology unique enough for Vanir to produce.
The idea of the VT-OS isn't actually all that difficult. In simplest terms, the Observation Satellites are exactly what their names imply. They are satellites equipped with high powered cameras, sensors, and different equipment used ordinarily in reconnaissance operations. This technology is not new, and is actually fairly common throughout the galaxy, utilized by many governments on their own planets. Of course, what makes the VT-OS so unique is that they are directly controlled and operated by ground forces while also being portable. That is to say, they are launched at the same time as ground troops, placed into orbit, then utilized directly by ground forces.
This is a tremendous advantage during combat as the VT-Observation Satellites allow for one to track enemy troop movements, scout locations, and even get more advanced knowledge then would ordinarily be possible through orbiting starships. As well, the VT-Observation Satellite is capable of re-positioning itself in orbit and moving about as is necessary. This means that once launched the VT-OS requires no additional input by space born troops and engineers.
Of course, the VT-Observation Satellites are completely defenseless, though being made of fiberplast and giving off a limited data signature they would be difficult to pin-point in orbit.
