Description:
Plainly put, the VT-Command Throne System is a continuation and adaption of the VT-Nerve Helm System.
The point of the VT-Command Throne is much the same as the VT-Nerve Helm, the throne is designed to create a 'link' between the user and the ship it is installed upon. This system can be likened to the famed Battle Meditation, albeit, perhaps even slightly more complete. The System itself works on the same principals as the VT-Nerve Helm System, albeit far more advanced and capable of far more input as well as data process. In this, the VT-Command Throne is a far more advanced version of the Nerve Helm, with the Nerve Helm not capable of controlling Capital ships while the VT-Command Throne is entirely purpose built to application on only capital grade vessels.
What the VT-Command Throne actually accomplishes is a base linking of the users mind and the ships systems. This is achieved in almost exactly the same way as the VT-Nerve Helm System, albeit through slight changes. Due to the massive input of data that a capital ship produces, the VT-Command Throne has a sub automation system. This system is quite simple, and is effectively designed to allow the user to focus on one subsect of the ships systems instead of taking in all information at once.
To put it more simply, the user of the VT-Command Throne would be capable of assuming direct control over the ships targeting systems, shield output, and weapon systems while the automation system takes over control and monitoring of engines, sensors, and other non-essential systems. This allows the user of the VT-Command Throne to maintain a presence within the subsect of systems that he wishes while allowing the ship to still properly function without much issue. Of course, the user is capable of running all systems at once, but this is not recommended due to the stress that would be placed upon the users mind. These side-effects can be counted as seizures, paralysis, coma, and even death. The user is also able to focus all of their thought into a single system, thus greatly enhancing its capabilities.
The System all in all creates a closer bond between the Command Throne User and the ship itself. The obvious benefit of this is the merging of the ships own systems to the users own reactions. This means instead of relying on a massive bridge crew to do everything, the user of the VT-Command Throne is able to individually responded and interact much faster. It also, depending on the person, allows systems to run faster and more smoothly. A marksmen for instance might improve weapon accuracy and control, an engineer might better engine output, and so on. These effects depend on the persons own expertise, and only occur due to the exacting nature of control the VT-Command Throne offers.
Much like the VT-Nerve Helm System the Command Throne is almost impossible to retrofit onto Starships. The complex nature of the System and how it actually works requires a vessel to have the system built into it. The wiring and connections add a massive amount of work to any starship, and retrofitting it onto old vessels has so far proven to be impossible.
Though not observed in the VT-Nerve Helm System, the VT-Command Throne does have one major drawback. It seems that prolonged exposure to the VT-Command Throne is somewhat...addictive. A person who utilizes the Command Throne for hours and hours on end without stop will find it more and more difficult to peel themselves away from the Throne itself. This unique, and dangerous, interaction forms because of the minds enhanced capabilities when sitting upon the Command Throne. Vanir Technologies warns of this risk, and cautions anyone using the Throne to at most only maintain its abilities for ninety minutes without pause.
