STRENGTHS

WEAKNESSES

• Transporter: Though much more heavily armed than its predecessor, the Von Strauss-Class Cargo Ship is still not really a ship to ship combatant, though it is far more capable of holding its own in battle
• Carrier: Since each Von Strauss-Class Cargo Ship is geared toward ground operations, each example tends to carry only a single squadron of actual starfighters, with the rest of the squadrons it carries being support craft
• Valuable: Von Strauss-Class Cargo Ships are priority targets for any attacking or defending military force, and replacing lost vessels is extremely difficult for the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant
• Mediocre: The Von Strauss-Class Cargo Ship only possesses mediocre performance at best, even when using its SLAM and PIMS (Proprietary Internal Maneuverability System) subsystems

DESCRIPTION

With the acquisition of Du-HC-2145F "Impetum" Transport Ships into the Mahporeem Imperial Navy, the original Von Strauss-Class Cargo Ships became obsolete nearly overnight, and the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant began considering plans to scrap the old design entirely. However, rather than get rid of the Von Strausses entirely, the Imperial Remnant instead decided to consolidate the few remaining ships left and upgrade them into something that would compliment the Du-HC-2145F "Impetum" instead of being replaced by it.

The newly redesigned Von Strauss-class Cargo Ship is inherently superior to its predecessor in nearly every conceivable way. Each example is now far more heavily armed, much better defended and most importantly, able to temporarily cloak itself with the use of its CC-Y Antiradar Defense Unit, allowing the ships to land behind enemy lines and drop off troops without ever being detected in the first place.

Unfortunately, these increased capabilities do come at a significant cost, as the vessel's already limited production run was cut down even further in order for the Imperial Remnant to be able to afford the upkeep of such expensive and important ships. Furthermore, much like their predecessors, the new Von Strauss-class Cargo Ships are still very much high value targets, and the lost of even one of them can have disastrous consequences for any invading force using them.
