Mission Voices from the Void | Refuge

"Take a nap," Jasper suggested. "You look beat to heck and back, kid..."

He'd give his son a warm smile.

"Don't worry about a thing," he insisted. "I'll take care of things."

Braze needed no further assurances as he was out like a light. Sleep had claimed him hard and heavy almost immediately.

He sank deeper into the co-pilot's seat, disappearing further into the plush folds of his cloak as the tension slowly faded out of his form. There was something quietly telling in how easily he surrendered to it, seemingly content to leave himself vulnerable among the others aboard.

Perhaps it was simply exhaustion catching up with him…

Or perhaps Jasper's presence beside him was enough to convince some stubborn, ever-watchful part of Braze that, for a little while, he truly didn't have to worry about a thing.

"I have a blanket for you, Miss Thyme," the boy said softly, leaning down so she could grab it from his shoulder. "And a few choices for drinks. Water, tea, and a juice that reminds me of the citrus from back home. Please, help yourself."

"Ah... okay."

Thyme watched as the snake one and the blonde walked away, a bit confused why they had stepped out so... abruptly. She felt strange too, weird ripples from where they stood that sort of made her feel dizzy, but she wasn't really sure why. Maybe it was all in her head.

The young woman shifted into a seat and wrapped the blanket around herself as best she could. She was so tired, it felt like the work had never ended since the moment she stepped out of that cold room she had been stuffed into with all the others from her village. And for what? All their asking and they never got any answers on why they were being yelled at, or forced to build things they didn't understand. It was all so...

Strange.

Given her exhaustion, Thyme was asleep in a matter of moments.

Novac looekd over at Thyme he saw her asleep, good, who knows how much she needed it. Novac reached out to jasper through the force since he didn't exactly know where he was, sensing his towards the front of the ship. Novac then gestured for Starlin to follow.

The size of the ship didn't help, it only meant novac had more and more times to think about this, to try and wrap his head around it. Which by himself probably wasn't the best way.

Finally reaching the front where Jasper and Braze where he saw the small jedi asleep. Not wanting to wake him he spoke to jasper through his mind Sir, may we talk?"

"You're fine to speak," Jasper stated. "Braze hasn't slept well in a minute. He won't wake up."

Jasper stood up and stretched, flexing his organic arm for a moment before he turned around to face the reptilian padawan.

"Tell me what's up," he instructed. "We don't need to take off right away... I'd rather give you my full attention before I start flying."

Starlin hesitated to follow, he did not wish to leave Thyme alone after all she had been through but he also did not want to defy further instructions. Would Novac be upset with him if he didn't follow..?
"We'll be just a moment, Miss Thyme" he promised, "The door will remain open, I swear." He did not want her to feel trapped. Thankfully when he dipped his head back in just before they headed down the hallway he saw that she was nestled up and on her way to the Land of Nod.
The closer they got to Jasper the lower Starlin's head became, until it was bowed in contrition. He didn't speak, didn't interrupt, he just waited behind Novac and kept an ear out for Thyme.

True to his word, Braze remained completely and utterly out of it. The quiet conversation nearby failed to earn so much as a twitch from him; he had curled comfortably into where he had settled, breathing slow and even, apparently having entrusted the rest of the galaxy with the difficult task of continuing without him for a while.
