Intent: To create a set of Vong armor somewhat in line with how many others create their Beskar'gam and other sets of technological/power armor. Also to serve as a template for other Yuuzhan Vong characters wishing to make their own set of armor, and alleviates having to have a long list of biots when entering threads. I am also so sorry to whoever gets this! Please forgive me. >.<

Strengths:

  • Highly Resistant to damage: The Voduun Skerr Shel like all other variations of the crab shell armor is highly resistant to numerous types of damage the most notible of which is its lightsaber resistance and the resistance to slugthrower rounds.
  • Healing: Like most Yuuzhan Vong creations in recent years the Voduun Skerr Shel is still a living creature and can heal from damage over time depending on how severe.
  • Force Dead: Just like any other species of the Yuuzhan Vong this creature is relatively immune to the force.
  • Spaceworthy: While there is a time limit to how long one can stay in a vacuum with this armor its an improvement over regular Voduun Skerr Kyrric which isn't capable of it.
  • Versatility: It is possible to graft other Vong biots onto the armor similar to how a Mandalorian would switch out parts of their armor.

Weaknesses:

  • Symbiosis: Unlike other armors when the Voduun Skerr Shel bonds to the wearer and as such if it is damaged it feeds on the user to heal itself. This can be both a benefit and a cost, but is extremely costly in battle as if injured it feeds on the metabolic stores of the one donning it which could leave them too exhausted to continue in battle or cause them to weaken over time. If irreversibly damaged or killed the creature will inject the user with lethal toxins that will first send them into a coma and lead to death.
  • Force Lightning: Like any other biots this creature is as susceptible if not more so to it than others. Due to the biots the lightning while frying the creature could easily set off a chain of reactions causing it to crush the user, the firespitters to explode or any other numerous effects. Not to mention that it isn't even insulated for lightning so if the side effects of being hit by the lightning don't kill the wearer the lightning certainly will.
  • Continuous Pressure: One of the larger flaws in the Voduun Crab armor is how it could be cracked through an application of continous pressure such as from Mandalorian crushguants leading to the armor being torn open if not crushed into the user.
  • Verpine/Railgun tech: While this armor may be resistant to numerous types of damage one thing people fail to realize is that verpine technology and those like it could easily pierce the armor.
  • Biots: Vong are quite fond of their biots but those wearing the armor will be sad to know none of the biots they've had grafted to their body can be used while wearing this armor making them null and void. (Mainly ones for combat, Fighting Claw, Finger Spears, ect)
  • Baffor Pollen: The number one weakness of any Vong creation. Baffor Pollen if used on the armor could easily lead to its numerous biots experiencing complications much like they would when exposed to Force Lightning, not only that but since the armor is bonded to the one wearing it they also begin to experience a coma eventually leading to death if the armor doesn't crush them first.
  • Shapers: If left with another shaper it would be just as easy for them to sabatoge the armor making it inject the user with its venom, or any other range of effects.
  • Vongsense: Masters of Vongsense within range of the armor could simply coax it to crush or kill its master.
  • Weight: Voduun Skerr Kyrric is usually known for being lighter than other armors however this variation of it weighs significantly more than most armors you'll find in the galaxy including most Beskar'gam.

Description: The Voduun Skerr Shel is possibly one of the most complicated variations of Vong armor ever created. While the Sith took the Yuuzhan Vongs organic creatures/creations mixing it with their own abominable technology those still loyal to the old ways decided to shape a set of armor unlike any other. One to rival the fabled armor of the Mandalorians, to show that technology wasn’t what made the best armor. That it was ingenuity, and whatever the humans could do the Yuuzhan could do far better. This project took the finest shapers at the time over a year to fully flesh out and develop. The general idea they had was ingenious but finding a way to shape a creature to accept the amount of biots they wished to introduce was the most difficult part.

As such the project started with the basic Skerr Kyricc, or more widely known, the Voduun Crab. The Shapers began the long process of shaping the creature much the same way they would any other creature except to accomplish what they wished the creature had to be freshly born and the shaping process would have to be completed as the creature grew grafting the biots onto its body. The simplest area, to begin with, was the torso. One common problem with the Skerr Kyrric was that there were no areas for the warriors to carry their weapons without using their own personal pouches. With this, the shapers went about grafting both Sclipune and Q’et’s to the armor's torso so as it could better carry weaponry and tools for the warrior wearing it. The Sclipune was a more secure type of storage that could be used for objects of value or were incredibly sensitive causing it to requires the warrior to type in a code sequence. The sacworm an often forgotten or underrated biot has been repurposed in a few ways while being shaped to the Voduun Crab. It was made to not only contain liquids the wearer may have to relieve at the time for those out on longer missions which didn’t give them time to disrobe. It is also used for extended periods where they may need to eat or drink so some of the sacs will carry soups or water.

Another issue with the Voduun Crab armor was not space worthy, or even worthy to be in a more hostile environment whose atmosphere could be laced with lethal chemicals, at least not without the use of the Gnullith. As such what would be used as a helmet and mask for the wearer was shaped with not only a Gnullith but a lungworm so as to offer them the ability to utilize the armor in a vacuum for up to two hours. After two hours, the lungworm would die and the user better hope that they were somewhere safe as it takes an entire three hours to reshape one of those lungworms to the armor to be used again. This also brings in that what could operate as the helmet of the armor can act as a mask too, shifting between simply covering the face or the entire head sealing it for vacuum. Next came the problem of that while wearing the armor one wasn’t able to see in the dark, so to alleviate that issue and emulate the night vision of the infidels’ technological armors a Kavaavik was shaped into the helmet/mask area to grant one visibility at night, however this does not include any of the other features that technological armors do like a rangefinder, infrared, and numerous other such features which makes it fall slightly short. Finally, so as one could communicate with their allies a specialized Oggzil villip was grafted onto the armor so that one could communicate with both humans and other Yuuzhan Vong.

One aspect of the legendary Mandalorian armor was the sheer amount of weaponry that they were able to carry. They had basically turned their armor into walking armories. It was difficult to emulate this into the Voduun Skerr Shel without costs, the shapers were willing to pay it. While biots could be grafted to the armor it made most of the biots a typical Yuuzhan Vong warrior would use null and void as they wouldn’t be able to use them while within the confines of the armor. As such Firespitters were added to the top of the wrist area while at the bottom held Whipsting biots. Near the knuckles and between the wrists fighting claws were bonded allowing for them to be ejected in times of combat. Alas at the tip of each fingertip there was a finger spear, though they extended nowhere near as far as their counterparts grafted directly to a Vong. Instead, it extended out to twelve inches.

Coming down to the feet/boots of the armor there wasn’t much that could be done as there weren’t many biots ever created for such a thing. Instead they were attached with Vua'sa, which were often just used as typical talons were in combat making the wearers kick lethal, however, those who possessed more creative minds used the talons to sometimes aid in hanging from the side of buildings, walls, and other such structures. The widest departure from the Voduun crab armor, however, was how this one was specifically bred with wings so as to simulate the jetpacks many use today. The downside to this is that it doesn’t last all that long due to the weight of the armor and the wearer inside. The wings are also absolutely useless in the vacuum of space or areas with little to no gravity. With this, the armor was capable of continuous flight for a max of a minute. It didn’t matter whether you had landed or not, the wings would instantly retreat leaving the wearer to whatever fate they had brought upon themselves.

History: The history of the Voduun Skerr Shel is just as long as the process that it took to create the armor. The Yuuzhan vong priest Aarshlût Muyel, and his peers looked upon the creations of the Sith with disgust. Many of them bonding or utilizing their own technology with the grand creations of the Vong which had been offered to them by the gods. The creators had granted them that knowledge and now it was being sullied in the hands of the Sith. It was enough to turn their stomachs. No longer willing to stand aside and let their work be overshadowed the priests commissioned the shapers to make armor worthy of the mighty Yuuzhan Vong warriors, one that fell back on the old ways. As such their commands were taken and what came out was a culmination of Shaper ingenuity and human influence. Having used the Beskar’gam as a template for the armors' creation the Shapers had been able to create a set of armor that was every bit its equal. They named it Voduun Skerr Shel, which meant in the human tongue “An armor which can be grafted”. The first set alone was passed on to the mightiest of the Vong warriors who wore it into battle with honor and pride showing the true potential of the armor.

Having seen the abilities of the armor and its value the shapers began to craft more, one for each head of a Warrior domain. The process to create the Voduun Skerr Shel was a lengthy one and as such they couldn’t afford to make too many. That was till the greed of the Sith began to rear its ugly head. Completely obsessed with the creations and the potential to use it against their enemies the Sith ordered more created and Aarshlût was forced to watch as yet another creation of his people was stolen from them. This did nothing to strengthen his connection with the Sith but had been the straw that broke the camel’s back. His people were seen as nothing but slaves to the Sith, he would not let the creations of his people be used in such a way, not for the Sith. Stealing one of the sets meant for a Sith Lord, Aarshlût dawned it. This was the only one that would be permitted to live. To do good for the galaxy and to prove itself.

With the armor having bonded to him Aarshlût went on a rampage against those who had dawned it. The heads of the domains proved the biggest challenge, they knew how to fight, they were of course warriors but through the strife and fires that tried to drag him to the nether Aarshlût succeeded. The sith, those were the easy ones. Aarshlût knew the weaknesses of the armor and used it to his advantage, the Sith had become too used to fighting alongside the Vong and forgot just how lethal they could be as an enemy. Though scarred, broken, and bruised Aarshlût was able to limp away knowing that all the other armors had been destroyed.

Alright, I've looked this over three times since last night. Two questions so far :

Sacworms seem to be merely for holding liquids, so what is their purpose in the armor?

The weakness on leaving the armor with another shaper. Would internal sabotage be that big of a deal for you to list this as a major weakness? How does it play into the overall sub? This one is leaving me a little lost.

Also, 12" spears on each finger?

The sacworms are more so used for when one is going on long periods and needs some form of nourishment so the sacworms would hold soups, liquids and such. Honestly its not that important but I thought it would be a nice added feature.

Well, sabotage of the armor could be very serious, especially since I do believe there are some Sith or were at one point capable of shaping or had a vast understanding of it. Along with what Vong PC characters there were at the time it would be dangerous but I can also remove that as in truth its not necessary.

No, there are only 2 finger spears. One for each index finger. The original length is absolutely insane, and 12 inches to me is even still mindboggling. I'd be more than fine removing those as the only use would be possible fine tinkering with things or using as a surprise attack.

I would also like to ask if it would be fine if I added weight as a weakness as this is far heavier than any other set of Voduun Crab armor as the original was known for being light. A mistake I made and would like to clarify is that I didn't mean every single biot the user has is useless, but namely the ones that would interfere with the armor. So that would basically mean fighting claws, spears, ect that had already been grafted to the wearer. Their eyes would still be of use and such.

You could leave the sabotage part in, I was more or less curious on why you thought it was a weakness. Same for the two finger spears, thats completely fine since its not the entire hand. I was skimming earlier and it looked like it was the entire set of fingers so I apologize.

Yeah, weight could certainly be an added weakness. Feel free to add it on in.

Sorry I missed this tag! Anyways...I don't see anything out of the ordinary, all pretty standard Vong tech, you dialed some back even.Weight isn't too much, given how much modern day soldiers carry. Pending approval.
