PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Fighting Stick
  • Size: Average
  • Weight: Heavy
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Sturdy
STRENGTHS
  • Sturdy - Veshok Wood comes from hardy trees transplanted from Mandalore. It does not bend, break, crack, or weather easily. With proper care the sticks could outlast the one using them.
  • It's Wood - These won't be detected by metal detectors. They also function in regions that are Force Dead or within an Energy Suppression Field.
  • Blunt Force Trauma - Good for training (won't lop off a limb) or combat (but it can easily break a rib, arm, or crack some skulls).
WEAKNESSES
  • It's Wood - Unlike beskar, Veshok Wood is not naturally lightsaber resistant nor fire-proof.
  • Blunt Force Trauma - It won't sever limbs, cut through a blast door, or snipe someone at 500 meters.
DESCRIPTION
Runi Kuryida primarily uses wooden Veshok Akaanir Bevik (Fighting Sticks) when training others in the Mandokarla or Mandalorians in general. It is easier for a student to listen to their instructor when both parties wield sticks instead of blasters, flamethrowers, and grenades. It also permits correction in form or technique through physical reinforcement that is not possible with a blaster or lightsaber -- that is, the instructor can give you a sharp rap on the back of the leg or side of the arm without causing lasting harm. The 'simpler' method of fighting allows a warrior to focus on their skill rather than relying on technological advances that can mask poor form or lack of skill.

Veshok wood is harvested from trees grown in the Enclave from seeds transplanted from Mandalore. The community of Resa, Kestri in particular utilizes hand tools and natural resources to supply most of their needs -- with technology only being used judiciously -- and often harvests nearby Veshok trees for a variety of purposes. Construction of Akaanir Bevik is easy to accommodate with artisans often engraving the wooden lengths to add a level of sophistication and artistry to an otherwise humble instrument. Such craftsmanship is meant for the owners and not for any enemy on the battlefield that may find themselves assailed by 'mere' wood.
