STANDARD FEATURES
  • The Venture-class is outfitted with all the features and facilities one would expect of a vessel of its size and purpose, among these:
    • Advanced Communications and Sensors Array
    • Compact Refinery & Manufactorum
    • Bridge-controlled Cargo Sorting System
    • Full Mind-Machine Interface Integration
    • Antisepsis Fields & Related Technologies
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Bastion Protocol: By diverting all available power to its shields and activating an Anticoncussion Field, Venture-class vessels are made nigh-indestructible; perfect for diving to the depths of an ocean or even delving into a gas giant in search of deorbited space stations or pockets of rare gas.
STRENGTHS
  • Star Galleon: The prototypical example of Arctrus' "Star Galleon" classification, the Venture-class is designed to brave the hazards of the unknown, bringing with it enough firepower to scare off pirates or even bring to its knees an atomic-level civilisation. As an explorational vessel, it is able to operate for years on end without resupplying and even manufacturing its own goods, from basic pharmaceuticals to battle droids - and even prefabricated settlements!
  • Bastion Protocol: In order to withstand some of the most hostile environments the galaxy has to offer, the Venture-class is able to divert incredible amounts of power to its shields and Anticoncussion Field - or withstand a great deal of punishment in a fight.
  • Customisable: Explorers being quirky people, the Venture-class is designed for optimal customizability - on the low end of the scale, its hangars can be reconfigured to fit more starfighters, or none at all - on the high end of the scale, the vessel can be stripped down somewhat to serve as a dedicate cargo vessel, modified for use as a dedicated colony ship, etc. One could even stick a giant swimming pool next to the Captain's Quarters!
  • Automated: Designed during the paranoia of the Four Hundred Year Darkness, the Venture-class is designed to operate entirely autonomously, if needed, so long as an AI or sufficiently advanced droid captain is provided. More commonly, it is captained by a cadre of skilled officers, with the vast majority of the ship's systems being either automated or droid operated - this includes maintenance and repair models, of course.
WEAKNESSES
  • Star Galleon: While perfectly capable of holding its own against dedicated military vessels, the Venture-class isn't one, not really. Use it in a fight if you have to, but fielding dedicated military vessels is likely to yield both better and more cost-effective results.
  • Turtle Protocol: "Nigh-indestructible" sounds nice, doesn't it? Well, tough luck. Made primarily to withstand natural environments, Bastion Protocol is not all that useful in a fight - modern weapons can still overwhelm its shields and all of its own weapons but the point defence cannons are disabled due to the power draw.
  • Automated: While every precaution has been taken to protect against Ionic weapons and EMPs, including building most of the internal structure from an especially resistant Tridurium compound, it is still impossible to deny that the organic crew, if there even is one, would be able to do approximately zilch to protect themselves should all their fancy droids be knocked out by a sufficiently powerful weapon or some strange technology or another.
DESCRIPTION
In the waning days of the Four Hundred Year Darkness, a new chapter was written in Arctrus Astronautical's history, overseen by Erkhin Trivohld himself. Under his leadership, a fleet of autonomous vessels were created, intended to re-establish contact with the galaxy at large - or, should civilisation itself have been consumed by the Gulag Plague, begin the process of resettling the galaxy.

As it turned out, the Galaxy was still very much intact, and on the precipice of reawakening too boot. Its original purpose soon lost, the Venture-class was reimagined as the first step for a grand strategy of exploration - for even as the Galaxy emerged from its long slumber, vast swathes of space remained unexplored.

Later adapted for private clients, the Venture-class' impressive versatility found it employed in a long range of diverse circumstances - some were bought by explorers and mining companies, seeking their fortunes in the unknown, others were converted for secure cargo transportation, or even massive troop transports able to deposit legions of droids upon an unfortunate world. Hell, one was even turned into a spaceborne palace for a "humble administrator" with ties to the One Sith seeking to vanish into the Unknown Regions!
