STANDARD FEATURES
The Veles-Class comes fully equipped with the whole standard array of shields, systems and components that are normally associated with vessels of this size and class.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
SubLight Acceleration Motor (SLAM)
STRENGTHS
The Veles-Class is superbly fast for a capital class vessel, being even capable of chasing down even smaller, usually more nimble sized vessels.
It is also decently rugged for its size and class.
WEAKNESSES
Diverting power to activate the SLAM drive sees a temporary decrease in both offensive and defensive capabilities.
Smaller hangar bays, less squadrons.
The Veles-Class relies heavily on receiving support from larger vessels in a prompt and timely fashion, being primarily designed to delay opponents rather than outfight them altogether.
DESCRIPTION
The Veles-Class Star Destroyer has been commissioned and designed to serve as part of sector fleets, occupying primarily an offensive vanguard role with the overall aim of pursuing enemy capital ships, engaging and delaying them long enough for larger reinforcements to arrive.
Sleeker and smoother than older generation models, the very clean lines and crisp frame of the ship evoke a sense of speed that the class is more than happy to demonstrate given the opportunity. And if the three powerful primary and eight secondary engines prove to be insufficient to the task at hand, an onboard capital grade SLAM engine quickly allows it to recapture any lost ground in short order.
Offensive and defensive capabilities are likewise a cut above the norm, allowing it to punch above its own size and weight during engagements. Ablative armor and molecular shielding being utilized in addition to the normal defensive measures to ensure those engagements last long enough for the rest of the sector fleet to arrive and assist.
Due to its focus on engaging larger ships rather than conventional picket duty, the port and starboard hangar bays are slightly smaller than one would normally expect for a vessel of the Veles’ size. Instead the space that more squadrons would have occupied was given over to a new line of interdiction field generators, being internally mounted rather than traditionally exposed as was previously the norm with KDY products. These generators further allow it to detain and hold its quarry.
