  • Extreme damage potential; has ability to inflict heavy damage to target(s), even across heavily shielded targets
  • Extreme Range; has the ability to traverse great distances if not intercepted prior, striking targets from across the orbital battlefield
  • Electronic Countermeasures; make the warhead extremely difficult to jam or slice into, increasing the likelihood of an effective target strike
  • Remote Detonator; has ability to be remotely detonated prior to impact for maximized area of effect against larger numbers of targets
  • Atmospheric Transfer; the warhead has the means to travel through a planet's atmosphere un-compromised, making it capable of striking a planet's surface from orbit

  • Moderate Speed; comparatively to other missiles and self-propelled ordinance, this weapon system does not travel at a fast pace, making it easier to be targeted
  • Indiscriminate; the warhead does not discriminate between friend or foe and carries potential to inflict significant damage to both friendly and hostile forces
  • Extreme size makes it impractical to fit the weapon to anything smaller than 3000 meters

Bigger. Scarier. More Explosive.

You would think that was the end goal the engineers that developed this weapon system had in mind as they hammered away on its initial concept and destruction. And in truth, a lot of that was true. After all, why not have a powerful explosive that can contend with the likes of some of the most powerful missiles and explosives sold on the market today. And if they could manage it, why not improve on previous concepts. Thus, the engineers at Valnora Arms began development of the VE/VA-009 Vehement-Class Ballistic Missile.

Designed for capital ship interdiction, this warhead carries a massive bang with an extreme explosive potential. Firstly, the concept of the reactionary force that leads to the detonation of the weapon is based upon the volatile nature of unrefined coaxium and the devastating potential that lies within its pure, natural state. Because Coaxium, in it's unrefined state, must adhere to special care or risk instability and premature detonation, the routine care of this system is of utmost importance. As such, the weapon is stored in a separated fashion, with the coaxium warhead placed into a chilled storage facility, only to be removed from the specialized storage system when the weapon is ready to be assembled and launched. The missile body, itself is equipped with a modified chiller unit, however that unit is not intended for permanent usage or storage, and instead is focused on maintaining stability long enough to get the ordinance to target for detonation.

Although not equipped to every weapon system constructed, the Vehement-class Ballistic Missile has the potential to be outfitted with a remote detonation system, allowing the ordinance to be detonated at a desired time before impact, if an exterior explosion it the desired effect. This effect can be achieved one of two way. Firstly, the detonator can be remotely controlled from the vessel it was fired from and then detonated via manual input. Secondly, the weapon system can be programmed with a desired time delay, where the warhead will be detonated automatically after a given time.

Additionally, the warhead is equipped with the ability to home in on a desired target. As its maneuverability is lacking, if exaggerated evasion maneuvers are pulled, the ballistic missile is likely to not be able to make impact with its target. This is partly why the warhead is intended for use against capital class ships and not more agile ships such as freighters.

Finally, the weapon system is equipped with an electronic countermeasures (ECM) suite as a simple defense mechanism against slicing or automated targeting. The missile is still detectable, just it is more difficult for targeting systems to achieve a hard lock on the projectile, often times forcing defending forces to rely on more traditional line-of-sight targeting if they desire to target and intercept the warhead before it reaches its desired target. These countermeasures also aid in preventing the weapon from being hacked or otherwise sliced.
