Vanir City: The original starting point of the Colony of the planet, Vanir City has grown from a single building to a sprawling metropolis.

The city itself resembles dozens of others around the galaxy. It's architecture appears to be a copy of Byblos and Lianna. Most of the buildings are smoothed and rounded, half a dozen skyscrapers reached into the sky in the center of the city and around them expand dozens of smaller buildings ranging from residential to commercial. The city itself is a reflection of the population, everything is clean, calm, and almost entrancing.

There are multiple public parks throughout the city, all maintained through several small sun arrays and lights. Most of the public works throughout the metropolis are kept up through droids and teenage children of Vanir Technologies Employees who require summer jobs.

Vanir labored with great difficulty to ensure that the city itself felt like any other in the galaxy. Unlike many other facilities on the planet the City is housed within a massive ray shield. This allows the urban zone to have a more natural atmospheric feel. Instead of the natural cold of A3-9xA Vanir City holds a more pleasant and normal temperature, allowing folk to go outside with no concern.

The city also holds Vanir tower, the chief location of the Company upon the planet.

It is in this tower that Rigor, and the company itself, is mainly housed. Most of the decisions of what happens on the planet and within the company itself are made here, thousands of people within Vanir City are directly employed within this building and it is through here that the world is coordinated.

Vanir City is an urban sprawl, dedicated to the employees of the company. The city holds everything from parks to movie theaters, allowing those who work on the planet to enjoy a small slice of the regular Galaxy while never leaving the planet.

Communications Tower: Perhaps one of the most important aspects on Vanir, the Communications tower is what allows the planet to coordinate and communicate with the entire rest of the galaxy.

The tower is located upon the tallest mountain near Vanir City and stretches hundreds of meters into the air. All communications are routed through this tower, sending signals off world, across the planet, and everywhere they need to go. Due to its central role the Communications tower is heavily defended, having it's own VT-PDA as well as heavy defensive shield and power generator.

The Communications Tower is one of the most important locations on Vanir.

Transport Hub: As one might suspect, transportation of Vanir is rather difficult.

The entire planet is not a sprawling metropolis like Coruscant or Fondor, rather it is a sparse few inhabited hubs of shipyards, mines, etc. Due to this Vanir needed to build a way for employees to actually get where they were going. The Transportation hub, located just outside Vanir City, is the central location for all movement on Vanir. Here one can find trams to The Mines, Shipyards, and City itself of course.

Aside form these more centralized locations, the hub also has transports that can take one to the other locations of Vanir. These transports are mostly automated and are more restricted due to their more sensitive nature. A special pass is needed in order to utilize the Transports.

The Transport Hub also function as the main Starport, having enough hangars for all trade and incoming transports.

The Hub is protected by a shield, though unlike the Comm Tower or the city it is not as well defended, mostly because it has little military benefit if the planet were attacked.

The Mines: A large part of why Vanir Technologies chose A3-9xA as it's colonization point was because of its rich industrial resources. The planet is filled to the brim with the raw materials required for the production of Durasteel, fiberplast, duracrete, and many other common construction materials. It is for this reason that a part of the planet has essentially become a massive, sprawling mine.

The northern hemisphere of Vanir is filled with deep crags and canyons, massive ditches that have been dug by the earth itself splitting along tectonic plates. It is here that the Mines were originally placed.

bZMlJjP.png
These deep canyons made for the perfect starting points, allowing Vanir Technologies to build dozens of smaller strip mines that would eventually come to stretch throughout the canyons themselves. These mining facilities are massive, and extremely dangerous. Most of the main mining is done through droids or automated systems, watched over by living supervisors. The work within the mines is deadly, and thus operations are extremely careful.

The mines themselves operate almost twenty four hours a day, running to consistently harvest raw materials, smelt them, and then transport them to either the development centers or the shipyards.

Unlike other facilities, the mines are completely encapsulated and thus contain no shields. If the Mines are attacked it is understood that all Employees would begin immediate evacuation, Vanir does not hold the mines as a valuable military resource and thus the cost of life is far more important than the facility itself.

Shipyards: Part of why Vanir is so important to the company is the ability to produce Starships with raw goods sourced directly from the planet.

In order to achieve this the Southern Hemisphere of the world was converted into a planetary shipyard. These facilities are deceptively large, a huge series of skeletal structures that house the construction departments necessary for the production of vessels under the size of a single kilometer. Though no Star Destroyers can be built within these shipyards, Vanir is able to crank out smaller starships quickly and effectively.

Unlike The Foundry, or even Vanir Technologies other Shipyards, the driveyards located on Planet Vanir are all sourced directly from the world itself, allowing for little delay in the production of ordered ships.

Development Center: Part of Vanir is it's constant development of new technology.

Due to the sensitive nature of the work found in this place the Development Center is tucked away from Vanir City. The Development Center is where all of Vanir's more standard research take place. New Starship designs, more standard weapons, and all other products that are more 'normal' are researched here.

The Facility, much like the mines has no extra defenses beyond a few Laser Canon emplacements. If attacked the Development Center has a standing evacuation order. Research is destroyed(Backed up at Vanir City HQ) and all employees are to leave as soon as possible.

Fringe Science Facility: A long standing part of Vanir Technologies has been the Fringe Science department. It is this division of the company that has produced it's most famed products, the VT-Command Throne, It's line of Disruptors, and of course the Grav Glove.

The Fringe Science department has long since been once of the most important aspects of the company, and thus its facility is one of the most well protected and best outfitted. The facility itself has a powerful shield generator, a dedicated VT-PDA and its own complement of Saeva Incorporated Guards. If attacked the FSF is one of the few emplacements that is not ordered to evacuate, and instead forces will fight to the death to protect what is inside.

Arkuhn Research Facility: Thought not a part of Vanir Technologies, Arkuhn Medical is dedicated to a cause close to Alric Kuhn's hearts. Due to this, the research facility of Arkuhn is considered to be one of the most important pieces of Vanir itself.

This building sits nestled against one of the few sparse oceans located on the planet itself. The facility is partially submerged and is protected by a series of shields as well as thick durasteel armor plating. The building is unassuming, and most of the research conducted here is geared towards the algae and moss that spots the surface of the planet itself. The workers in this facility have a resedential building nearby connected through a tunnel, though they are of course permitted to return to Vanir City whenever they wish.

NbbAnE0.png
Like the Fringe Science Facility the Arkuhn building is protected by a heavy complement of Saeva Soldiers.

Agri-Fields: Due to the sheer size and quick development of Vanir, the planet required more food than it could actually import.

Because of this the decision was quickly made to develop purpose build agricultural facilities. With the help of Arceneau Trade Company and several smaller Corporations five vast Solarium Glasteel domes were quickly constructed. These huge domes were purpose built as greenhouses, taking the energy from the red sun and allowing it to produce enough power to generate several smaller solar reactors, giving the inside bubble a temperature and environment suitable for the growth ff plants.

These five domes are enough to feed the entire population of Vanir, through the world is still supplemented through regular trade with nearby ORC and other worlds, mostly for junk food.

The Domes are surprisingly unprotected. Though they hold a guard of Saeva Soldiers, they have no shields or weapon emplacements. This is mostly due to the fact that Vanir has enough food stores to survive up to a sixth month siege, but also because the company did not want to highlight the agri-fields as a military target for anyone who might want to assault the planet.

  • Native Species: None
  • Immigrated Species: Humans, Twi'leks, Zeltrons, Killik, Other
  • Population: 1.2million, growing
  • Demographics:
The Demographic of Vanir is about as varied as can possibly be.

The planet was set up as a sort of advanced Headquarters for the company, and thus it's population is a reflection of the Corporation itself. The world holds all sorts of species, HUman, Zeltrons, Killiks, and many others. Though Humanoids are more represented in the demographic as a whole, the reason for this is not based on the companies choice, rather certain species are just more ammeable towards colonization.
  • Primary Languages: Galactic Basic
  • Culture:
Vanir as a planet was designed and built by Vanir Technologies. The planet was once a sparesely inhabited ball of rock in a system with a low light Red Giant Sun. The world had no culture to speak of besides a few bacteria, and thus what grew out of the planet instead became something of a Company Culture rather than a planetary one. Vanir follows the aspects of its own employees, and since the planet is essentially a giant factory, development facility, and research outpost, those traits follow through. Though the planet obviously has recreational areas as well as residential ones, most of the planet is geared towards its aspect as a colony for Vanir Technologies.

This aspect is explored in almost all gears of life on Vanir.

Every single person living on Vanir is either employed by the company or a family member of the company itself. This can obviously lead to a few...stressful situations, mostly because people tend ot feel trapped. In order to inhibit this Vanir produced as much freedom as choice within the planet itself. There are no formal work hours, just deadlines, there are dozens of parks, recreational zones, and plenty of daycare prospects.

All of this leads Vanir's Culture to be geared around the company itself. Those that work for Vanir Technologies go about their daily tasks while their families receive the benefits of said employment. This enclosed society allows for higher production and better control, giving Vanir a place to develop its technologies in greater secret.

  • Government: Corporatocracy
  • Affiliation: Vanir Technologies
  • Wealth: High. The planet is controlled and operated by Vanir Technologies, it's employees are well compensated and it's infrastructure is immaculate.
  • Stability: High. The company ensures that all social, economic, and environmental problems are solved immediately. The populace is generally happy and thriving.
  • Freedom & Oppression: Vanir Technologies oversight government is controlled by two entities. The First is a Corporate Oversight comittee seated by various members of the board of directors, the second is an Ethical Oversight comittee. These two entities ensure that the planet is properly looked after and that the populace is kept happy, both entities working together have created a system of government that ensures residents of Vanir are generally happy and have freedom of choice. No one on Vanir is trapped there, everyone has the ability to generally state whatever they want, and those living here are generally pleased with their situation.

  • Military:
Vanir is by no means a fortress world. It's location in the galaxy as well as it's system architecture makes it vulnerable for a number of reasons. Multiple hyperlanes allow travel to the system and detecting incoming fleets can be somewhat difficult due to the Red Giants background radiation. However, this does not mean that Vanir is completely undefended.

Like everything Vanir Technologies holds, the planet is garrisoned by a heavy force from Saeva. The Arkuhn is also permanently stationed above Vanir and the entire planet is equipped with a full array of VT-PDA's. Additionally, Vanir City and other important outposts are also protected with powerful shield arrays that can withstand orbital bombardement.

The planet is not Bastion or Anaxes, it cannot withstand assault from entire armada's, but it is more than capable of defending itself against standard sized fleets.
  • Technology:
Vanir Technologies has always prided itself on being the cutting edge of Technological Development, and its planet is no different.

The planet holds itself in great pride as one of the most technological advanced in the Galaxy. Most of Vanir Technologie's newest prototypes are tested and utilized within Vanir City, utilized by Employees and families(when its safe). The public transport system is state of the art and most menial tasks have been automated by droids or other systems. Vanir holds itself as cutting edge, and the planet reflects this.

The planet that became known as Vanir was until recently known only as A3-9xA.

In the minds of the galactic public the world did not even really register. It was one of many thousands, even millions of planets throughout the galaxy that had once been cataloged in some vague galactic map only to be later forgotten. There was, and really still is, nothing significant in the world itself. It resembles millions of other planets within the galaxy, and is all around not very pleasant.

Though the planet is habitable, it is just barely so.

The world orbits around a Red Giant, sitting in a safe zone just far enough where it gets enough light for it to survive. It's atmosphere protects it from most cosmic radiation and those allows life to survive, though not really thrive. Because of its further location from the Sun, as well as its slow roration period, much of Vanir is rather cold. Tundra's, frozen deserts, and large wastelands are more than common.

This sparse and harsh landscape have made life difficult on the surface of Vanir, and has made it so that most indigenous life is either located underground near thermal vents or in the small sparse oceans that one can find upon the surface of the planet. Most of the plant life upon Vanir is not in fact trees or ordinary fauna, rather it is far more common to find algae and moss growing en-mass. This is what allows oxygen to actually be created on the surface, something that make it viable for in-habitation, though not very pleasant.

1mGvH6Z.png
The only real upside to Vanir itself is it's mass deposits of ores and raw materials. The world is positively brimming with the raw materials required for Durasteel, fiberplast, Glasteel, and various other materials required for construction of goods. The only reason this has not yet been harvested is due to the planets location within the outer rim, so far it has simply not been cost effective to harvest and transport these raw goods to the facilities that would utilize them.

This of course changed when Vanir Technologies moved forward with it's colonial project.

The Company has a whole has long since begun it's expansion into more privately held enterprises and locations. The construction of The Foundry and then Artemis Station are reflections of this, two endeavors that allow Vanir to produce and distribute it's products without any government oversight. These two stations however were simply the first step in Vanir gaining true corporate independence.

With the corporation growing and its reach expanding, a decision was made by Rigor that a new colony would be founded. The need for Vanir to expand and push the boundaries of its own production were quickly met, and searching through databse after database the droid entity eventually found an uninhibited and relatively unknown world. A new project simply dubbed 'Vanir' was begun, and work quickly set about.

Resources were quickly sourced from Vanir's construction division, and quickly the planet known as A3-9xA found itself home to the first Vanir Technologies Colonial outpost.

This outpost was at first a simple scientific study. Several dozen researchers were sent to A3-9xA to determined it's habitability. Once it was found the world could not only be lived on but actually adapted to an enjoyable stay, work began in earnest.

Inside of a year the outpost of A3-9xA began to grow into Vanir City. Before long towering skyscrapers and large ray shields were erected, allowing citizens to freely and comfortably wander city streets without being exposed to the cold air. Soon other facilities began to follow around the entire planet. Elements of ATC, as well as several other corporations were called in to aid in the sourcing of technologies, foods, and construction goods. In the following year Vanir City grew to a large enough population to demand expansion, and through this push Vanir finally poured its funding into the planet itself.
nuCiOGJ.png

Research outposts, agri-fields, and deep earth mines were quickly built all around the planet. These additional outposts allowed the growth of Vanir to come from the planet itself rather than outside resources, and before long the planet became a self-sustaining enterprise.

Vanir now serves as the Companies primary headquarters, the city, outposts, mines, and Shipyards serving as a way for the company to grow, experiment, and produce without being disturbed by a government or other entities.
