Val Aranda found that she wanted another hobby in addition to her ice sculpting and exploring. She eventually took up martial arts. She traveled the galaxy to learn multiple forms of martial arts. When she was very well learned in some martial arts, she decided to take up martial weaponry. She started with the bo staff. Once she mastered this, her master had this electrostaff made for her. She was new to the use of such a weapon. Not only was it extremely lightweight and easy to wield fluidly, but it was able to break apart into a 3-section staff. She had to learn how to use her new weapon and once that was mastered, her master had her unlock her weapons true potential. He had her travel to cliffs of the tallest mountain for her to become one with her weapon. Once she achieved that, she was able to unleash the electrical current within the weapon, using it to her advantage against her foes. Upon contact with one of the weapon's sections, her opponent will feel a powerful electrical current course through them. Several years of training and grueling trials and tribulations has made her a master with her weapon, putting her on par with a veteran Jedi or Sith Knight in terms of combat potential.

- Lightweight: Songsteel is an extremely lightweight metal. The staff is approximately 85% songsteel, making it a very lightweight, easy-to-handle weapon.
- Lightsaber Resistance: Due to the electrical current, along with the songsteel used to make the staff, the entirety of the staff is resistant to lightsabers.
- Charge: The electrical charge held by the staffs end pieces will only last for an hour. After that, it's just a blunt weapon that needs a charger.
- Defense: Against heavily armed foes, the staff isn't effective at all. The staff offers no defense against blasters or slugthrowers and heavier melee weaponry as well.
- Gloves: As the electrical current courses through the entirety of the staff, Val has to wear special gloves to wield the weapon.
