Notable modifications include the following:
- A shortened tail section reduced the Valkyrie's excellent maneuverability but improved hangar space efficiency.
- A smaller, slower hyperdrive freed up space for more powerful sublight engines.
- Jasper and the Republic stripped out the Umbaran electromagnetic plasma cannon in favor of a weaker but more mission-specific loadout: four quad lasers and four antipersonnel autoblasters. These weapons give the Valkyrie Mark Two a decent self-defense capability while allowing it to clear the ground for the forces it lands. They are also much easier to service and replace than the Umbaran cannon.
- Instead of the stock chaff and flare dispensers, the Mark Two mounts a pair of low-volatility Silk Holdings chaff/flare projectors.
Relevant Stock Description:
The Galactic Republic, in desperate need of newer model ships to combat against aging technology vessels, began to source design ideas and concepts to corporations still loyal to its' cause. The idea behind the Valkyrie class was one of heavy equipment transport and rapid troop deployment. Capable of carrying a substantial number of vehicles both large and small, as well as a full company of soldiers into any battle in a single drop. The ship is fitted with a small assortment of armaments intended for delivering substantial damage to ships of relative size that would venture into its' path. Where vessel is equipped with advanced deflector shields, the hull is comprised primarily of Neutronium, which serves to further protect the ship from volleys of enemy ordnance if primary shields fail.
