Prophet of Bogan
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Droid starships weren't all that new to the minds behind Sanguine Defense Works and the Order of Wonosa, with one of their main starships even being a simplified droid bomber. However a proper droid starfighter, and indeed an alternative to simply needing more pilots to bulk out their fighter squadrons and compliments, was something that they had been lacking. Naturally they had initially planned to make a rather cheap and basic droid fighter in order to somewhat diminish their reliance on training new pilots at a standardized yet rapid pace, however basic wouldn't fulfill their needs and thus some more experimental ideas were considered.
In order to make them more effective while keeping them cost-effective, rather than making the starfighters themselves with better armaments the designers and engineers instead opted to put more effort and funds into the sensors of the droid. This more comprehensive sensor suite would allow for the resulting fighter to be far deadlier than most other droids but through the use of more precise targeting and tracking systems rather than an expanded arsenal or durability. To accompany the sensors the droid brains designed for the starfighters would be programmed to be more akin to hunting animals, using pack tactics and identifying weak spots or weaker targets in order to maximize their killing potential.
This programming combined with the sensors gave the droids a rather unique quirk in simulated battles, they often used an unorthodox tactic of aiming for the cockpits of enemy fighters where they could sense the pilot to be. This quirk was considered advantageous and thus wasn't removed even when the starfighters entered into production. Named after the Sith word for "minion" the Valikas certainly fit their moniker as relentless and dedicated yet relatively unimposing hunters. With repulsorlifts fitted to their wings to improve maneuverability, s-foils for greater movement control, and boasting enough sensors to track enemy vessels in five different ways, the Valikas would enter into production and be deployed without delay/

- Hunter-Killer: The Valikas sport a fairly sophisticated and varied sensor suite as standard, a relatively expensive investment but one which pays off by making them very adept at pursuing and locating enemies. They can track other vessels through everything from simple visual scan, thermal readings, motion detection, and even communication interception. There are few targets which can hide from the ever watchful sensors of a Valikas, and once they have their prey they don't hesitate to intercept and destroy with extreme prejudice.
- Swarm Tactics: As is typical with droid starfighters, the Valikas aren't particularly durable and can be dispatched rather easily with but a couple shots from most starship weapons. Additionally they sport exceptionally aggressive programming, making them far more likely to throw themselves into risky situations without any care for their own well-being just to attempt to destroy whatever target they may be fixated upon. For this reason it is highly inadvisable to make use of them in any individual capacity, groups of three recommended as a bare minimum.
