SETTING INFORMATION
  • Military Base Name: Valeport
  • Classification: Metropolis / Starport-Anchorage
  • Location: Confracta
  • Affiliation: The Second Triumvirate
  • Population: 1,230,000 (Civilian) | 26,000 (Military) - 5,250 Combat Personnel
  • Accessibility: Valeport as the Capital of the Cerevessian Republic, and one of Three Capitals of the Triumvirate faces this reality, but also that of being a Starport and Anchorage - thus making it not only an easy to access location, but an easier one to find. The city itself is surrounded by a multitude of smaller cities but for all purposes separate ones - marking it as a centre of civilization.
  • Description: Valeport is an ancient city situated in the centre of the massive island chain to which the Cerevessian people call home. It is no different from any other city, marked by towering buildings and bustling activity of hovercraft. Deep inside the centre of the city, one can find buildings thousands of years old, and surrounding it built on artificial islands deep into the Ocean is Confracta's single largest Starport and transportation hub.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Valeport Anchorage: Valeport itself is now surrounded by artificial islands a large number of which have become dedicated anchorages. The purpose of which is to store and service Military Vehicles and Vessels for short to long periods of time. The Anchorage itself is pockmarked with various Turbolaser Towers and ground emplacements, serviced by a sizeable detachment of 20,000 Triumvirate Military Personnel, 2,000 of which are Infantry tasked with the security of the Anchorage.
  • Starport: Valeport, as the name implies, is now and always has been primarily a naval port. Once it serviced a vast fleet roaming the seas of Confracta, and while a few vessels of this sort still call the city Home, it has primarily evolved into the primary Starport of the world, servicing thousands of ships a day. Security of the Starport is lax despite the size of the garrison simply due to the sheer volume of traffic. Noting the garrison, the Starport also houses several turbolaser emplacements.
  • Guardian Isle: An ancient river bisects the city of Valeport. It is here where the original fortress which the city itself grew around. Said fortress is still in service today, acting governmental centre of the city as well as the personal home of the cities Royal Family. Despite the outward appearance, it is in itself a hidden fortress, boasting a Garrison of 500 Personal Guards as well as several dozen security measures ranging from turbolaser towers to reinforced escape tunnels.
SECURITY
Medium:

  • Anchorage: 4 Quadruple Heavy Turbolaser Towers | 12 Laser Cannon Turrets (Point Defense) | 2,000 Security Personnel
  • Starport: 6 Quadruple Heavy Turbolaser Towers | 36 Laser Cannon Turrets (Point Defense) | 3,000 Security Personnel
  • Guardian Isle: 2 Quadruple Heavy Turbolaser Towers | 4 Laser Cannon Turrets (Point Defense) | 250 Security Personnel
  • Total: 12 Quadruple Heavy Turbolaser Towers | 46 Laser Cannon Turrets (Point Defense) | 5,250 Security Personnel
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
In predictable Confractan fashion, the City of Valeport is remarkably ancient. Historically this wealthy merchant city-and-port has humble and insane origins. The Last King of Cerevessia, the Mad King in paranoid delusion constructed upon a sizeable island bisecting a titanic and equally mighty river a castle, a great fortress which would be the final retreated of the crazed lunatic, with ambitions to never fall, to forever guard his psychosis against all others. In truth, it did - from those outside. A Minor Noble of the nearby area, one of the King's most trusted retainers would backstab him, quite literally, and seize the fortress for himself. In later years a port-city quickly grew around it, taking their name from the River Vale which then, in turn, the Nobles took its name for themselves, Valeport.

The History of the city since had been mostly passive growth, dominated by a healthy merchant-class which saw it always as a hub of trade and transportation. A port of call for many, frequent destination for the rest. Spared the flames of war, time and time again, this growth was never hampered and goods never razed allowing a landslide of wealth to occur to terrifying degrees. When technology rose and so did greater civilizations around it, despite being an unwieldy location for an interstellar center of trade, thanks to money alone there was no other choice.

Valeport is not the historic Capital of Cerevessia, an honor which once rotated frequently between cities with the coming and going of elections, sometime in 3701 BBY a Vacaryn backed Coup installed house Valeport as constitutional monarchs, and thus sealed the fate of the city as Capital and Seat of Government. History was then again as kind as ever, but wise men always remember smiles are made of daggers. The Gulag Plague and subsequent 400 Year darkness were especially cruel to Valeport. The city was simultaneously flooded with refugees and bankrupted by quarantines which ended any hope of a profitable trade. Emerging again, the city had survived - but barely, ravaged but resolute and with a considerably more weary population. It took decades after the return to normalcy, but inhabitants once again took up the ancient traditions of their forebears unleashing a flood of trade and commerce flowing like the very river that bisects the great city.

The city is now a massive metropolis expanding outward radially in sectors both on land and sea through the use of an archipelago of artificial islands, mostly used for Government or Interstellar prospects and services. The innermost sector lies built on ancient buildings carved of granite stone brick. The city has recently seen an influx of migrants in the form of recently contacted species, either as visitors, traders, temporary workers or those inquisitive enough to live in a strange and completely alien world.
