DESCRIPTION

An attempt to appeal to customers on far-flung water worlds such as Atallon and Mon Cala, the V-95 was an amphibious patrol craft developed by Incom in the years leading up to the Gulag Plague. With a long and narrow frame the V-95 looks like many patrol craft save for its unorthodox buoyancy floats. Designed to allow the craft to make hard and fast landings on water where a chemical reaction would allow the vessel to then sink to level with most common docks. Propelled by two powerful Kuat made Blissex-9 Ion Engines the V-95 boasted a speed that ensured pirates wouldn't escape without serious consideration to their engines. They also offered the V-95 a maneuverability more akin to a snubfighter than a bulky patrol craft. Unfortunately, its maneuverability meant little for most piolts as, frustratingly, the V-95's floats could not be retracted into the hull increasing its silhouette in combat and offering a larger target for enemy craft.

Luckily the V-95 came heavily armed and ready for combat. A nose-mounted heavy repeating laser cannon was the V-95's main weapon and could be fired from the cockpit. Alternatively, a gunner could slip beneath the cockpit and take manual control of the turret. Its secondary weapon was a powerful ion cannon used to disable vessels which could then be pulled in with a combination of the vessel's small tractor beam projector and magnetic harpoon launcher. A modular ordinance bay and its pair of concussion missile launchers expand the V-95's mission profile by giving it the alternate role of a heavy assault bomber. When coupled with its aquatic abilities its modular ordinance bay and concussion missile launchers offer the notion to swap for more traditional torpedoes.

Ultimately, the V-95 fell out of use as most water world had local producers that could make vessels more specific to their planet and their needs. As a result the vessel fell out of use outside of a small handful of systems in the Outer Rim and various Outer Rim defense forces, most notably the militia known as the Stormwardens on Pamarthe where they are used for search and rescue as well as a part of the world's weather prediction services. Most vessels were highly modified and production of the ship stopped during the height of the Gulag Plague. Despite their age they still serve faithfully.
