An Utai Drill Bit

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Utai Magic Circle
  • Model: Utai Drill Bit
  • Weight: 120 kg
  • Diameter: 310mm
  • Affiliation: Closed-Market
  • Production: Semi-Unique
  • Modularity: Yes
  • Material: Alchemized duranium
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Lightsaber resistance
Strengths:
  • Can be installed in a variety of well-drilling machines
  • Lightsaber-resistant
  • Can even bore holes into ore containing restricted materials due to the additional material strength alchemy provides its teeth
Weaknesses:
  • Presence: Force presence means that unless you somehow install a Force-diffuser somewhere close to the shaft, Force-users can detect a Force-presence centered on the drill bit
  • Heavy: its sheer weight makes moving the bit more difficult
  • Force-nullifiers: Voidstones and ysalamiri will suppress the Force-presence
  • Boring holes into ore containing restricted materials make it prone to malfunctions (i.e. the drill bit mechanisms get clogged) and then the drill bit must be removed from the well shaft
  • Drilling speed is slow when used on ore containing restricted materials, such as ultrachrome, Hijarna stones, stygium, cortosis and Isotope 5, taking quite a bit of time
  • Cannot be weaponized
DESCRIPTION
The Utai Drill Bit is a tricone drill bit used to break rocks either horizontally or vertically, depending on the orientation of the drilling machine outfitted with an Utai Drill Bit. Its alchemized duranium teeth allows it to grind rocks while the shaft attached to it rotates upon itself, with the shaft itself called the prime mover. Usually the ore goes away from the drill bit when this occurs, due to the nature of the shafts in use, where spiral conduits allow the ore to be brought to the other end of the shaft for collection. However, as with all things alchemized, the drill bits lose their Force-properties while exposed to Force-nullifiers, even though, in practice, it occurs at low depths or when the bit is above ground, ready to move on to another wellbore, unless one is mining void stones.

Due to the alchemical treatment increasing the strength of the drill bit, and making its teeth sharp enough to cut into even ultrachrome or Hijarna stones, it is capable of drilling into ore containing restricted materials. While drilling through normal materials, it can achieve a rate of penetration of about 20 meters per hour, that is, can drill a hole at 20 meters per hour; when drilling restricted materials, such as ultrachrome, Isotope 5, stygium, cortosis and Hijarna stones, it can achieve 5-10 meters per hour at best, with RMs presenting more resistance, slowing the drilling to a crawl.

Material: Alchemy, duranium
Alchemy is not a material, it is an application of the force. If the Duranium is what is being treated with alchemy, state such in the materials. (i.e; Alchemized Duranium or Duranium treated with alchemy)

However, if used around a NFU, it will make the NFU's Force presence akin to a neutral Apprentice.
This doesn't make any sense. It is the object which carries a presence in the force, not the person using it (although they can have their own presence in the force). Being around an NFU or a master force user isn't going to change its presence in the force.

This is not the case. Alchemy makes metals lightsaber resistant because the person altering it through alchemy are changing the structure of the material in question.
From the Sith Sword article on Wookieepedia:
A user skilled in the dark side could alter the weapon's molecular structure, making it stronger and sharper, and reverse its magnetic polarity, turning it into a high-temperature superconductor that could deflect blaster bolts and other particle weapons as if magnetically sealed. The rare ores used in its construction resisted lightsabers in much the same manner as cortosis and Phrik alloy, while its polished surface reflected laser beams and other coherent light weapons like a mirror.

What makes this capable of drilling through restricted materials?

What makes this drill capable of cutting through restricted materials? How quickly? Would this be, in any way possible, capable of being adjusted in the future in any form, i.e; for a future submission, as a form of weapon? Are there limitations to what kinds of materials this can cut through?

Please answer these questions in your response.

Just for clarification, are you aware that Beskar is forged into th end material? It isn't an ore, beskar is an alloy, so it wouldn't be able to be used to drill beskar.

The same is said for phrik, phrik is a compound created out of the phrikite ore and Tydirium. The raw materials themselves are not hard to drill.

Cortosis ore, is very brittle, and crumbles by hand. It is only when cortosis is blended with other materials that one gets cortosis weave, allowing the additional properties of lightsaber resistance. It wouldn't require an alchemized drillbit to drill. Standard mining applies.

Echanni Graphic, is an RM that is manufactured, you wouldn't be drilling for this.

Impervium, again, is also an alloy, you wouldn't be drilling this out.

Laminanium, songsteel, and the bulk of the RM materials are manufactured -- the only ones viable are perhaps Hijarna stone, ultrachrome, stygium, cortosis, and isotope 5.

Could you please ensure that this is edited to reflect that? Also, I would prefer that this drill bit takes quite a bit of time for drilling through these RM materials.
