STRENGTHS
  • Astromech Slot -A standard feature in many smaller craft manufactured by Aether Systems, the UT-75D U-Wing includes an internal astromech slot in which an astromech droid can be "slotted" in to provide additional assistance. In many cases, the droid takes over more tedious tasks such as navigational plotting and enacting minor repairs.
  • Nimble - These vessels were redesigned from the ground up and are considerably more maneuverable and agile than predecessor variants. The UT-75D is capable of achieving higher sublight speeds, increased acceleration, and reduced turning radius has heightened its chances in a Starfighter role.
  • S-Foils - Like many designs originally produced by Incom and available on the market, the UT-75D maintains the Strike Foils that were present on its predecessor models. These S-Foils can be deployed depending on specific flight needs, with the combat configuration (S-Foils deployed) increasing the coverage of its deflector shields and its flight configuration (S-Foils forward) being reserved for high-altitude and interstellar operations.
WEAKNESSES
  • S-Foils - These systems are controlled by a sensitive articulation servomotor assembly that ensures smooth deployment of the S-Foils into their flight or combat configurations. Damage to this servomotor assembly can result in the S-Foil becoming locked in place, either preventing it from deploying or retracting which has the potential for causing dire situations or causing additional problems for the occupants of the craft.
  • MWC-35c Repeating Cannons - Installed to overcome the limitations of the vessel's fixed Laser Cannons, these weapons are placed on pintel mounts that can be brought forward when either one or both of the loading doors are open. However, the primary drawback can be seen in the weapon's Galven-circuitry which appears like a belt-fed magazine attached between the weapon and its cooling tank. Damage to this "belt-fed" or even the tank itself is enough to render the weapon inoperable, further reducing any ground support the vessel can render.
  • Forward Firing - Though equipped with a set of Laser Cannons, the UT-75D must be oriented to bring its weapons to bear on a target which limits its overall ground support role. This also limits its capabilities when it comes to Starfighter Combat as the vessel must be oriented to target an enemy.
DESCRIPTION
The UT-60D U-Wing was one of the last Starfighters to be produced by the famed Incom Corporation at the height of the Rebellion Era, with only a handful being produced, they quickly found their way into the hands of the Rebellion. These vessels proved pivotal in the Mission to Secure the Death Star Plans and were utilized to great effect during the Battle of Scarif. At the establishment of the New Republic, the U-Wing was still serving in a support role and even saw action during the Battle of Jakku. Due to the exemplary service record of these vessels and the need for such a Support Craft in the ranks of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force; Aether Systems has developed and produced the UT-75D to continue the legacy.

Maintaining many of the design aesthetics of its predecessors, the UT-75D is notably larger than the UT-60D, allowing for additional personnel to be carried and greatly increasing its capacity as a Troop Transport and Support Gunship. However, these craft also come with a feature that previous iterations lacked, specifically, the inclusion of an Astromech Slot in which an Astromech Droid can be "slotted-in" to provide additional support. This allows the flight crew or singular pilot to worry about flying the craft with the droid capable of providing additional support such as handling navigational plotting and enacting minor repairs mid-flight. Like many Incom Corporation-based designs, the UT-75D maintains a set of Strike Foils which can be deployed or retracted based on flight needs. However, this system is controlled by a sensitive articulation servomotor assembly, itself used to ensure the smooth deployment of the S-Foils into their configurations; damage to this system can render the S-Foil locked in position, unable to deploy or retract, resulting in additional issues for the flight crew and passengers aboard.

Like its predecessors, the UT-75D does come equipped with a set of Laser Cannons, as well as a Concussion Missile Launcher, which was lacking in previous models. Still, these weapons remain fixed forward, and the vessel itself must be oriented to properly target and fire upon an enemy - be that a structure or other Starfighter. Despite this, the UT-75D is still a capable Support Craft and includes a set of Repeating Cannons on pintel mounts that can be deployed when either one or both loading doors are open. The UT-75D also has additional improvements over its predecessors, specifically its heightened acceleration and its reduced turning radius. Overall, the UT-75D U-Wing is a reliable support craft that can serve in a multitude of roles, providing additional capabilities and ensuring that the Galactic Alliance can rapidly deploy its troopers into any conflict zone.
