Codex Denied Unrooted Rewrite

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: The Unrooted
  • Origins: Artificially made in a lab by Taji.
  • Classification: Tree
  • Average Growth Cycle: When the tree starts out as a sapling, it takes it roughly a year to grow to the full height. After that, each of them will live for 1000 years. This is done by use of growth accelerants and the like to speed up the growth of the ship. When the tree dies, it shoots all sorts of spores across wherever it is, growing more of the Unrooted.
  • Viability:
The ship requires the energy of the Lightside of the Force as a form of sustenance. It also needs plant nutrients, and sunlight. It needs clean water. It needs at least 300 Gallons of Water, and 30 Feet of Clean Soil. It requires 10 Gallons of Plant Nutrients. It needs enough sunlight to power a small town with solar panels.

  • Description: A white or gold tree that either is a sapling, or towering over anyone in the area. The trees have golden fruit, as well as brown fruit. The brown fruit is food for the Purrgils, while the golden fruit is fruit for Force Users. The Trees sometimes gain markings which show who the owner of the ship is.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Average Height: Up to 1,000 Feet.
  • Average Length: Edit: Up to 100 Feet.
  • Color: White
  • Nutritional Value: On the exterior they grow pods that can release gas that attracts the Purrgill and gets them to take the tree ships wherever they want to go. They also grow fruit that is edible to humans and other similar species. It tastes like Pineapple, and has a complete nutrition for humans, providing all they need.
  • Toxicity: The fruit that is grown for the Purrgill is highly toxic to any species except them, and is to be avoided.
  • Other Effects:
The other fruit also helps the user regenerate their Force Energy at a rapid rate, and helps injuries heal faster as well. It immunizes them against most easy to cure diseases. (Flu Equivalent, Common Cold Equivalent, Chicken Pox Equivalent, things like that.)
  • Distinctions: The Trees have "pools" inside them that have electricity generating Fish inside them that they channel the electricity of in order to control the Purrgil.
Strengths:
  • Can't turn off most of the ship systems: The ship's systems are organic, and thus most can't be turned off by EMPs or Slicers.
  • Self Aware: Each of the trees is self aware.
    Edits:
  • Hyper Advanced Photosynthesis: This collects Sunlight and Cosmic Energies. This can be used as a weapon, or as a way to propel itself. Granted, this would need some time to recharge.
  • Telepathy: They can telepathically communicate with those inside it.
  • They can also grow fruit, and manipulate their branches, and the like.
Weaknesses:
  • Terrified: The ship has a phobia of termites and beavers. It is also afraid of Herbicide. It will either attempt running away at first, or if that isn’t possible shooting ship weapons at the source of Herbicide, or Beavers.
  • Needs Solar Energy: It needs Solar Energy. It needs enough energy to power a small town.
  • It needs Plant Nutrients. It needs at least 50 Gallons for each trip.
  • Over Charging: Over Charging could kill the Tree Ship. It will need to spontaneously fly off or shoot something if it overcharges. This would require the energy of a large town to overload it.
  • When landing the tree needs at least 30 Feet of Dirt due to the enormous root system it has.
  • Exhausted Power Supply: Should the ship exhaust it’s power supply, it will grow a sort of protective amber cocoon around it, and go into stasis.
  • Tree Weaknesses: This has the weaknesses of Trees; Fire, Acid, Rot, Etc.
  • The Dark Side of the Force: As the ship relies on the Light Side partly, this is vulnerable to the Dark Side. The Dark SIde of the Force would be cancerous to the tree, and cause the Unrooted it's inside to die.
  • Link to Owner: Should the Tree Ship's owner die, the Tree Ship would also likewise perish.
  • Without the Light Side of the Force, Nutrients, and Sunlight along with Fresh Water, the Unrooted could only last a day.
  • Unwilling to Kill: The Tree Ships are generally unwilling to allow their owner to kill using them.

Mixed Strengths / Weaknesses:

  • Simple Controls: The controls of the ship are far simpler than what would be the controls of say a Tie Fighter or most modern ship. To pilot, your hands will be stuck in a kind of "goo" and then you move it to move the Tree when it is in ship mode.
  • Link to Bio Eels: The Unrooted are linked to Bio Eels, drawing extra power from them to power the defense systems of the ship. Should the Bio Eels be killed, it would cause the tree no small amount of damage.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Unrooted were created by Taji in order to provide organic ships to the galaxy at large. These were also created because he wanted ships that anyone could use with the proper education on how to utilize them. They were also created because he believed the galaxy needed simpler - easier to use ships than most of those used in the galaxy.

Changes:
Removed all mentions of Veldorians from the ship.

Under Review Taji Nelson II Taji Nelson II

Organic ships can be a cool concept, but we have some things to look at before this can be approved. First and foremost, you can't submit a starship to the Codex. They must be submitted to the Factory. You can submit the species of tree here in the Codex, but for anyone to fly around in it, it needs to be a Factory submission as well. Here are some other things to address:

  • This tree is not canon, so please delete all the links from the Canon section and put N/A. They can stay in the Links section.

  • The Origins section may not be left blank. Did Taji make these in a lab? Did they originate on a planet? Please specify.
    • It seems like this needs to be a bioengineered species, since Purrgil-attracting fruit would not grow on a plant naturally; this plant needs soil, so it can't grow in space, so it would never encounter Purrgils naturally.

  • In the Average Life Cycle section, you note that the trees shoot out spores when they die. However, in the Viability section, you note that the trees need soil, water, and lightside energy to grow. It seems unlikely that any spores, shot off from random in the middle of space, would land in a place that has all of those things; nexuses of lightside energy are pretty rare, and water and soil aren't going to be around in deep space. If the tree needs all that, do most spores just die? Can this tree really grow outside of very controlled circumstances?
    • How does the tree become "unrooted"? It seems like it starts growing on a planet, in soil, like a normal tree. At what point does it leave the atmosphere, and how?
    • If the tree can only last a day without nutrients, lightside energy, sunlight, and water, the trips it can take are extremely limited. Many hyperspace trips last multiple days.

  • The Force-user fruit seems extremely powerful. What does "most easily curable diseases" mean? There are billions of diseases throughout the galaxy - viruses, bacteria, parasites. How does the fruit protect against them, and what kind?

  • If I understand this right, the ship moves because its fruit attracts Purrgils with gas from its fruit, and then the fish inside the tree control the Purrgils with electrical impulses. I have many questions about how this works.
    • Where do the fish come from? They can't grow naturally inside the tree. Someone has to put them there. That means this part of the entry should probably go in the Factory part, since it's not natural to the tree species.
    • What happens if there are no Purrgils in the area? Space is huge, and Purrgils are rare. Does the tree ship just sit there until a Purrgil shows up, even though that could be months? Or never?
    • How does the tree keep the Purrgils with it? What happens if it runs out of fruit? Do they just leave, potentially stranding the ship in the middle of deep space?
    • How do the bio-eels control the Purrgils to steer them? There is nothing in their submission that states they can control or guide other creatures, only generate power.
    • If Purrgils propel the tree, how does it take off and land? They are deep space creatures, and can't enter atmospheres.
    • How is this a "simpler, easier to use" ship than a normal ship, with an engine and physical controls?

  • How can "Hyper-Advanced Photosynthesis" be used as a weapon, or as propulsion? Can the tree shoot some kind of beam of energy? What does it shoot out of? If the tree is unwilling to kill, why would it use this energy as a weapon?

  • Please provide more information in the Historical Information section. How, when, and where did Taji make them? Did anyone help him? Were did he plant them, and where do they grow now?

Please reach out with any questions.

The Mongrel The Mongrel This was to get the species of the Tree done, before I worked on the Factory Sub for it.
1. Fixed the Origin and Link Section.
2. Fixed the Length / Width
3. What would you recommend as a fix to the Average Life Cycle?
4. Edited the Force User Fruit to be more specific.
5. Trying to fix the Control issue. Any suggestions?
6. In related to the Hyper Advanced Photosynthesis, it essentially shoots the energy out as "shockwaves" to propel it through the atmosphere of a planet, or into space.
7. Working on the History.

  • It looks like you changed the length and width to be the same at 1,000 meters. This would mean that the tree is as wide as it is tall. This would be very strange looking; it would look more like a cube than a tree. The largest tree on earth is 380 feet tall and 16 feet wide. If we keep similar proportions, a 1000 meter high tree might have a length of 40 - 50 meters. If you want it to have an extra thick trunk so there is lots of space inside it, maybe 100 meters. But 1,000 by 1,000 wouldn't look much like a tree.

  • Average Life Cycle: Honestly, this seems like a species that could only grow in a lab (and a lab run by a light-side force user, at that). The spores don't really do it any good, because they're never going to randomly land in a light side nexus. You can say that Taji grows them on a specific planet with a light side nexus or in a lab where he (or another lightsider) is around to feed them light side energy every single day, as they are unlikely to survive in the wild.

  • Control Issue: I'm sorry, I don't know how to solve this one for you. Having rare living creatures carry your starship around through space is a pretty impractical way to travel, and I don't know how you would control the Purrgils even if you could get them to show up, over and over, every time you need to go somewhere.

  • Hyper Advanced Photosynthesis: I still have some questions about this. What does it shoot the shockwaves out of? Its branches? Its roots? How does it convert sunlight into shockwaves so powerful it can overcome a planet's gravity and launch? How can shockwaves allow it to land safely? Why would it have a weapon if it refuses to kill?
