Unforgettable

Patting the ground near to her, Jairdain again invited him to sit down.

"The way it was explained to me was I needed to use telekinesis to make the sawdust that was present dance. By making the tiny particles move together faster and faster, it caused heat which in turn brought a cooking fire into being. Sadly I don't have any sawdust to use for you, but the same can be accomplished with the dry leaves I did provide."

To show what she meant, Jairdain gathered up a small pile for herself. Setting it on the ground in front of her, she showed Akabane what she meant by making them dance and move fast enough to bring about flame. They started smoking after a few seconds and quickly went out when she stopped the dance she had started.

@Akabane

She motioned for him to sit down once more, he had not seen her invitation before. Walking over to her, he sat down and looked at the pile of wood and dried leaves. The explanation was given to him once more, make particles move faster and faster until a heat is produced. He wasn't sure how to move individual particles but he had to try. Akabane watched her demonstration closely, seeing the flame surprised him. Can I do that? he thought, doubting his abilities again.

Akabane held his hand out, palm facing the piled up stick and leaves. He knew nothing about moving particles so he just sat there focusing, hoping for something to happen. There was no luck. "I cannot do this, how am I supposed to move something so small?" he asked, confusion falling over him.

When he sat down, Jairdain observed through the Force what he was trying to do. To her it appeared he was just moving the tools around and not touching them or making them dance. She also felt his confusion and knew the feeling well enough.

"Okay. Do you or have you seen a dance?"

Her memory of dances from her childhood had helped here.

"The music has a rythm. Live has the same. Use the Force to rub the items together that you can see if front of you really past. Make them dance if you will and that flame will come. The size being moved doesn't matter. I could get you two large sticks and accomplish the same thing if you wanted."

He was asked if he saw someone dance or if he himself danced. Akabane nodded. "How bold, are you asking for a dance from the great Akabane?" he asked grinning at his own arrogance. While he probably loved himself to a certain point, he didn't really believe he was so great. Putting on an acts and playing around was his specialty. He wasn't making any progress so he'd stop joking and focus on the lesson.

Akabane sorta understood the instructions better now. "No, this pile is okay." he said lowering his hand. "So I need to rub these leaves together and create a lot of friction? Enough to produce a flame?" he asked for confirmation before he would go ahead and try again.

Hearing the joke in his voice, Jairdain did not give it any real form of a reaction. Akabane noticed this and returned to the lesson at hand. After she gave a slightly different wording and explanation of what to do, he stated the pile would be fine.

Giving him a nod in answer to his question, she gave him a smile to further indicate he was on the right train of thought.

"Yes exactly."

Jairdain gave him the confirmation, so he began his second attempt at lighting the pile on fire. He raised his hand again and aimed at the pile once more. Closing his eyes, the pile would make some noise as a result of Akabane trying to start a fire. Not fast enough... he thought in frustration. He was so close to using pyrokinesis, but he failed. Akabane stood up and blew the pile away out of anger, he was upset by his failure. "I can't do it, Miss Ismet. Let's stop the lesson, I'm only wasting your time." he said apologetically.

It was clear to her Akabane was getting frustrated at his seemingly failing attempts however, she reached out with her hand before the pile could fly away totally and set it back in front of him.

"Hold your hand above that pile, Akabane. There is heat there."

She had seen it through the Force. It took more than a few seconds and with the larger objects it took longer for the flame to actually show.

"Try again."

Ever patient, Jairdain was not going to let him leave here a failure.

Calm down... yes, he had to remain calm. Akabane was in the presence of a Jedi and he doubted she liked his kind. Anger would only make it worse, he'd try his best to chill. Of course he only suspected that was true. Akabane knew little about the Jedi.

Jairdain saved the pile before it completely blew away. She told him to hold his hand above the pile as she did, there was in fact heat coming from it. Akabane was surprised, which could be seen by him frozen with his hand over it still. After a few moments he returned to normal and pulled his hand back. "I did that?" he asked silently. He lacked the faith in himself.

Akabane did as she said while he had some confidence and aimed at the pile again. "Here goes nothing."

It wasn't she had a like or dislike for his kind. As long as he didn't start trying to preach to her of his path being the only the correct one or get violent, Jairdain would keep him at an emotional distance and this meeting professional. She would respect his views and not enforce hers on him.

Feeling the surprise come off of him as he felt the heat he had missed before. He hand held above the pile, the heat went away since he didn't keep it going. Almost as if she could read his mind at his silent question, she nodded in an answer to his question.

Giving him a confident smile, she urged Akabane to try pyrokinesis again.

Okay. Relax. Breathe. he said over and over inside his head to focus on catching the leaves on fire. It couldn't be too hard if he was persistent in doing so. Besides, a Jedi Master was there next to him giving him some motivation.

Akabane held out his hand and focused really hard in silence. He knew the objects were moving and heating up but he had to go faster. Faster... faster.. he thought, moving them at a speed that he'd never reached before. A speed that was fast enough to light the pile on fire. The flames started slowly but they were there. "I... did it?" he asked silently again.

Without any further support other than her smile, Akabane was able to coax fire from the sticks and leaves in his pile. However, as if Jairdain could read his mind, nodded at his unvoiced question.

"You're getting, the idea. Fantastic job, Akabane."

By her tone, he could tell she was pleased and if he could pick up emotions through the Force he would feel it as well.

"Do you want to practice more? It'll become easier in time and you'll learn to make even the air itself light up."

When she spoke, what looked like a ball of flame appeared in front of her.

She praised him after his successful attempt in starting a fire, it was a nice feeling. He gave up at first and didn't think it was possible for him to shape fire. Thankfully, Jairdain was a persistent woman and a good teacher it seemed. The nice feeling vanished quickly though, as he was reminded of Aevan. It didn't show on his face but he really did worry about her. She was more than a friend, more than a romantic partner, Aevan was...

Jairdain asked him if he wanted to continue practicing, adding that he will learn how to light up the air as time passes. His head moved from left to right, he would practice some other time. The flame scared Akabane for a second when it suddenly appeared. Maybe I should continue, he shook his head and got on his feet. "Thank you for teaching me pyrokinesis, Miss Ismet. I'll work on improving my ability to use it." he said, really appreciating her kindness.
