Faction Undergrounders! Time to go... more underground?

The cycle of governments rise and fall was an undeniable fact of life in the current galactic era. Long gone were the days of a Republic lasting twenty five thousand years or an Empire ruling the entirety of the government for decades. Now, they were lucky to last more than ten years. It was something Veino had grown accustomed to. The Galactic Republic. The One Sith. The Galactic Alliance. The First Order. The galaxy was seesawing with the various political ideologies as their governmental champions seized power, held it, and lost, perpetuating the cycle of chaos and warfare that tore the galaxy apart.

Veino had grown used to it. He'd survived all the governmental collapses in the past few decades. He'd long ago given up any idea of growing attached to any government, and instead moving between them as circumstances dictated. Perhaps bit a cutthroat pragmatic, but that was the nature of the galaxy and his role in it. He'd fought for the Light, for democracy, and freedom, for close to forty years, in everything from planetary-scale battles with millions of soldiers to what he was best suited for, small-scale guerilla resistance movements. That was what brought him back to Sullust. He'd lived here once, long ago, when it was the capitol of the Galactic Alliance and the military fortress at the heart of its crusade against the One Sith.

But even treachery can overthrow the greatest army and such was what happened. The Alliance had fallen. So the cycle repeated and now the Outer Planet's Alliance was dissolving. That left vast swathes of systems vulnerable to those who would take advantage. He'd heard whispers and rumors through the slowly dispersion ORION channels of a new threat- a so-called Fellowship of the Eclipese. Sith cultists striving to overthrow governments and create Dark Side theocracies. Other words spoke of an Elysian Empire stalking the borders of OPA space and a resurgent First Order in their old capitol. That worried him. He'd barely survived several orbital bombardments last time they'd sought to force the galaxy to bow to their demands for total control. Yet they had done no aggressive actions yet and little word spread through his network of informants of any militarization. Perhaps they were taking a different course this time.

But for now, the Underground had come to Sullust. Before, they had been focused outward, with OPA keeping these territories safe. Such was no longer the case and the Underground had been starting a campaign to establish themselves in a ring of cells, bases, and supply caches around the OPA space to react to the encroaching threats, including the Eclipse cult. They'd come to establish an Underground network on Sullust. Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser had listed some potential objectives- embed them agents in the Home Guard, establish supply caches in the vast array of tunnels and underground complexes that spread throughout the world's tumultuous crust.

The rendezvous point was an old dive bar, deep beneath the capitol, aptly named Zark's Memory. It was an old mining cavern filled in with remnants of old Galactic Alliance warships that had been destroyed in the Endgame crisis. Most of its patrons were grizzled veterans of the GADF and OPA Partisans, smugglers, and what civilized worlds considered the dregs of Outer Rim society. But for the Underground? These were the sentients they needed. Hardbitten, determined, fearless, and committed to the cause of liberty and freedom from oppression. Some he even remembered. Once the rest of his Underground appeared, they could get down to business.

"Heard about that new movement? Eclipse or something?" Veino's ears pricked up as he overheard a quiet conversation from a nearby table. A few hard-eyed men with drop trooper tattoos circling their arms spoke quietly over their liquor. "Some new religious nutjob preaching about it in the rough parts of town. Said there's a great awakening coming..."

Veino turned away and poured another cup of Corellian whiskey as he waited for the rest. Some were old Underground hands. Others were more recent volunteers after the alliance dissolution.

Peyton was one of the last remaining handlers of the Alliance Intelligence, the Galactic Alliance, the one that folded into the Outer Planets Alliance. She was more than happy working with the latter group, and when they took back Sullust, she was based on that world with her team. As a Brubreen she spent less time on the magma world than most would expect. But she was always on the calls for leadership. She was contacted by Coren, who wished he could be here but with the way the galaxy was, and the way his family was, he was required at Kattada.

But the agent was more and more assigned to assisting Coren, and with the OPA stepping away, the Underground was stepping forward. The Master knew that him and Veino on the same world was going to be tricky, and Peyton was being sent forward, and would alert Coren if it was a safe time to travel. The leaders should be here, and the leaders of Sullust should be on the world.

“We’ve heard a bit about it, and are watching at Kattada…”
The Jedi Master’s voice came through the hologram that was being lead around by one of the BB units. He looked at Peyton through the hologram and nodded.

“But what we do have, is a few different units within the Home Guard that will assist the Underground. Cuan Kunn and Peyton Steele will be able to help with networking it. I wish I could be there with you all today, but with the lack of protection, it has fallen to my agents.”

Peyton smiled as she stepped forward, handing over a datapad to Veino. This pad had the lists of units which are willing to outwardly support the Underground and locations of a few safe houses on the world.

Veino raised a glass as he watched Peyton approach, holographic Coren included. He hooked one foot beneath the leg of a nearby stool and dragged it over to the table. He grabbed the datapad with a nod of thanks and activated it, quickly beginning to sort through the information. It wasn't much compared to the vast military-industrial complex that this world once housed, but it was a significant bolster to the Underground forces.

"Good to see you again," he said after Peyton took a seat. He gave a half-salute to the holographic Coren as well. "And keeping the Jedi out of the wrong kind of trouble, I hope?"

The conversation about the Eclipse had gone quiet as the soldiers nursed their drinks. He paid them no more attention at the moment, instead choosing to wait for them to resume their conversation naturally. He turned back to Peyton. "So, what's the word in old GA intel circles? They want in?"

ORION was already aboard, split between the Underground and the fledgling Rimward Trade League. That had been something he hadn't seen coming. But it was good they were appearing, with the various groups of imperialists perched on the borders like carrion stalking an army. They'd have to be dealt with when the time came. That prompted another question. "And how quickly, in your opinion, can we get these units set up with Underground gear to keep them patched into the network?"

Gar'n now had just entered the old diver bar where he was supposed to rendezvous with the rest of the Underground. He arrived on Sullust after he got the order to meet up here, where he hitched a ride from a friend of his, as he didn't have a ship yet. He looks around to see if there's anyone who got here first, as he then noticed there was Veino and Peyton at on the of the tables. He decided he'll get a drink first before heading over to them, as he's feeling quite parched for a good drink.

"Never been to Sullust before, nice place" Gar'n chuckled as he was ordering a drink from the bartender and looks around. Gar'n is located at the bar so he can be closer to where the drinks are, as the rest of the Undergrounders are at the table, as he thought he wasn't needed immediately. He decided he'll have a front row seat where the drinks come, so he can enjoy his drinks as fast as he could, being the alcohol enthusiast he is. Gar'n has set out on another mission with the Undergrounders, now he isn't as nervous as he was before when he first joined up with the Underground. He is enjoying his ride so far with them, not only he's getting job opportunity but he gets to roamed around planets he's never been to and enjoy the drinks there. He never would have imagined being a part of something like this, going up against the odds, where before he was only tending to patients and roughhousing in Cantina.

Moments later the bartender gave him his drink, "Right on" he said to the bartender as he goes for a sip. "Drinking feels better when you're at someplace new" he looks towards the ceiling after taking a sip of his drink, as he feels a lot of enjoyment from not only the drink but as he is quite looking forward to his next work with the Underground. He took another sip as he was about to finish his first glass of the day, he glances over at the table where Veino and Peyton was seated, as it seems they were about to discuss something. "Right, guess time for me to head on over and listen up" he grinned as he then told the bartender to fill his drink up before he head on over to them. After his drink was once again filled, he head on over to where Veino and Peyton was seated at, as he walks with one hand with a drink and the other to rub the back of his head. "I'm not late am i?" he asked them as he stand at the side of their table.
