How Ulani's Sephi parents ended up on the remote Wild Space world of Yanibar and why the highly isolationsist inhabitatns is a secret she has never shared, if she knows at all. Ulani was raised on Yanibar, with only obscure scraps of memories of a life before arrival on the harsh planet.
Her father had the Sephi knack for engineering, and helped design and improve technology, while Ulani's mother was an artist, creating from the planets meager materials. While they still clung closely to the mindest of their homeworld, slightly arrogant with a bit of a superiority complex when it came to their neighbors, their daughter assimilated much more of the local culture.
A local Zeison Sha adept identified an untapped sensitivity to the Force in Ulani, and campaigned for her to be taken in to learn the ways of their discipline. It took quite a bit convincing, both of Ulani's parents and the Zeison Sha leadership, do allow her to train, but in the end, the adept succeeded.
Highly intelligent, adaptable and trainable, the young Ulani became skilled in telekinesis and the use of the discblade. But, even though raised mostly on Yanibar, Ulani did not fully embrace the native's deep passion for protecting their life on their precious barren rock. She still had that Sephi arrogance. Taking the skills she had mastered, Ulani left to find a new life in the galaxy. Little did she know how much of both her parents and her upbringing on Yanibar had truly become a part of her.
