Whatever Tydeus' persona was before the turbolasers of the Kainates consumed his homeworld is burned up along with Tion. He is whatever he must be in order to exact his vengeance. His mind is singularly focused from the moment he wakes to the moment he falls asleep, exhausted from training.

HISTORY
A scion of the ancient lineage of the Gravid dynasty, whose marcher lords clung to a history of exploits in war, Tydeus received an education of which a Fel Imperium cadet could only dream. Tutored in tactics and shipwright by a retired Sullustan fleet admiral, in weapons by a Thyrsian Sunguard, and in Teräs Käsi by a Miralukan monk, Tydeus is a honed blade ready to be plunged into the heart of the Kainate.
When Tion burned, so did everything Tydeus' life. He is alive for the sole purpose of wiping out the entire bloodline of he who the Kainate liken to a god.
