Two men enter, one man leaves! [Krag & Kaine]

Other Space Kaiden

Better than other-other space Kaiden
The landscape of Kalee had changed drastically since the day that Krag had overthrown its pitiful government and established the galaxy's first Graug colony. The ground that once held sacred temples and cities had been excavated and now held giant pits that burrowed deep under the surface, where the Graug had set up large military complexes that twisted and turned throughout the crust of the planet. This was not all, for Krag had also begun the creation of large Graug cities on the surface that either built over or completely replaced what urban landscapes the Kaleesh had before his arrival. These Graug structures were much more menacing than the Kaleesh ones and that was to say the least. Unlike the very tribal look of the Kaleesh cities that seemed almost to blend with the landscape, the Graug cities cut into it like a razor. Where the Kaleesh buildings once flowed, the Graug buildings stormed. Where the Kaleesh buildings once complimented, the Graug buildings mutilated.

But that was the price a species would have to pay for their weakness. If you were not strong enough to protect your culture, than your culture deserved to be destroyed and forgotten. That, in Krag's mind, was the way that the galaxy should work and was the exact reason why the Jedi and their Republic would one day be swept away. It was also why Krag was currently working to strip the Kaleesh of their former identities as warriors, for they were not worthy of such a title, and replace it with the identity of slaves. Concentration and labor camps had been built across the vast jungles and death marches were used to punish those who rebelled. Those who worked, worked until they died and their bodies were used to feed those who could work longer before they eventually died. The Graug even went as far as creating camps specifically for breeding, where males and females were put together and forced to mate before the men were taken away to work and the females stayed to give birth. By now, most of those with the heart to rebel had been silenced and any thoughts of fighting back were quickly dealt with. The Gruag had become the overlords on Kalee.

This much was not nearly enough, however, as Krag found himself bored during his times not training or fighting for the Empire. Something needed to change and he knew exactly what that was, he needed to build an arena. This arena would serve as, not only his own source of personal amusement, but a place of punishment and festivities for the whole Empire. Already, Kaleesh death labor teams worked around the clock building the monument to Sith oppression out of stone and metal. Some war beasts were sent to help, just to speed things up and not to show mercy on the Kaleesh. Already, things were moving quite nicely and Krag even sent an invitation for the Emperor to come view it himself.

Now, Krag waited in his underground throne room for the Emperor of the Sith. The Throne room had been built close to the site of an active volcano so that some Kaleesh death labor teams could use some explosives and war beasts to divert the lava flow into Krag's chambers. Now the lava flowed into a crater behind and under Krag's throne which hung from sturdy chains in the ceiling that also held up the stone ramp leading to his seat.

Soon, Kaine would arrive.

From the blackened skies above Kalee came forth the Darkener.

A single Veratus-Class Imperial shuttle roared across the landscape, flanked on each side by Aleph-Class Sith Starfighters that acted as his personal escort to this new Graug colony world. Kaine had been extremely preoccupied with his new ideals he was integrated into Imperial society, and his many complicated personal schemes to further his own goals. Normally for such meetings he'd simply send an envoy to represent him while he worked on other things. However; with what Lord Krag had proposed to Kaine sounded promising, and thus why Kaine had taken such precious time out of his busy schedule to travel all the way to the edges of Imperial space near the northern Mandalorian border in person. He had not come alone though, bringing two of his most loyal Blackblade Royal Guardians to accompany him to Krag's compound within the bowels of the jungle world.

Upon landing the Emperor was quickly escorted deep beneath the ground, through monstrous caverns filled with black iron and molten rock where Kaleesh slaves constantly toiled away for their Imperial masters. Slavery had previously been abolished by Emperor Ardik, but was becoming more and more popular again in the Empire by the vast traditionalists who adhered to the old Imperial ideals. The ones who opposed such 'barbaric' acts had been the new-age pragmatics, who saw slavery as nothing more than a wasteful venture that should be left untouched in the Empire. Kaine, whoever; was one of those Imperial traditionalists, and thus had made it his goal to bring back slavery to all of the Empire. Progress was slow, but it was catching speed as he sent his Blackblades throughout Imperial space to begin multiple operations to enslave the 'undesirable' races of the Empire.

Finally Kaine had entered the massive throne chamber that served as Krag's seat of power, and it was wondrous to behold. Full of fire, and blackened rock while suspended above magma by thick metal chains. It pleased Kaine's eyes, and he was thankful for that. "Quite the fortress you've constructed here, Lord Krag. Now tell me, what exactly did you wish to discuss with me, an arena of sorts?"

Rising up from his blackened throne, the beast nodded his head and began to thunder down the stairs towards the Emperor. His footsteps echoed like thunder as he came down the steps towards Kaine, his breath leaving steam hanging in the air "Lord Kaine, you have come" Krag replied casually. Using the word Lord to describe another was a huge step forward for the Graug Knight, who still felt himself superior to near everyone. Kaine, however, was a special case and had proved himself powerful enough to serve as Emperor and assist Krag in his ascendance of political power.

Krag stopped a mere meter from Kaine's position and then pointed to the shadows in the corner of the room, summoning two male Kaleesh from beyond. The two males wore the rags of slaves and even seemed to move like slaves, their eyes always looking downward and their movements scrambled but quick like those of a scared dog. With nothing more than a hand gesture, Krag sent the two slaves off to fetch a massive goblet and pitcher full of water from the rivers that cut through Kalee's continents. Graug worlds were dry in terms of alcohol, not because of some cultural belief, but because Graug just couldn't get drunk thanks to the powerful cells in their body that destroyed foreign entities with much more precision and scope than that of blood cells.

Without a word, the two males assisted one another poor a massive amount of water into the giant goblet before rushing it over to the Emperor. With a bow, one of the slaves offered the goblet to Kaine and Krag chuckled cynically as he did so "This one here fought back harder than most of his pathetic kind during their enslavement process." The Graug knight's eyes drifted down to the groin area of the Kaleesh for a moment as he finished his thought "nothing a blade didn't fix, right weakling?" Krag hissed out with sick pleasure. It was suffice to say that these two particular slaves wouldn't be mating by any traditional means anymore.

Turning his eyes back to Kaine, Krag continued "and yes, my arena. I have these pathetic nerfs working day and night to build it. The Empire will shake at it's glory and the Jedi will fear the very sight of it. It will be a place to punish those who oppose us and place for warriors to fight and die for our....entertainment" Krag's last words almost slithered off his tongue.

Kaine was delighted by the prospect of a gladiatorial arena on Kalee, the surrounding environment and the ferocity of the native people should make for a spectacular show for all of the citizens of the Empire to enjoy. "This pleases me, Lord Krag. Certainly this arena will provide the Empire with much needed entertainment, and draw their attention away from our plans. The pragmatics are openly voicing their contempt for our operations, and they will be needed to be silenced and drowned out. This will help further that." He turned his attention to the two groveling worms that could hardly be called Kaleesh, and sneered at them with malice and contempt. He took the goblet of water, a tad disappointed that it wasn't the wine he was so favored of, but he could forgive such a small sin.

He looked back to Lord Krag, "Besides the Kaleesh, what other pitiful races could we throw into the ring to fight against? I also have a vision for a pen of beasts for our gladiators to fight against." He took a sip of the water, "We may have to take a trip to Vendaxa by the way."

Krag chuckled at the Emperor's question, before answering, "We will put anyone we wish into the arena. I have ordered hundreds of force field generators, energy suppressors and systems to pump toxins into any location in the Arena in case of a break out. Jedi, Kaleesh and any other weaklings of the Empire can be thrown into the pit to fight against whoever or whatever we wish." Once the Emperor had taken his goblet, Krag put a clawed hand on the servants shoulder and violently shoved him a full two meters backwards and onto the ground, where the sniveling rat stayed.

Upon hearing the name Vendaxa, Krag cocked his head slightly "For what, Lord Kaine?"

"There are a species of creatures that inhabit that world, Krag. They're called Acklays, and they have proven to be ferocious beasts. I read in an article somewhere that an Acklay was used in an attempt to execute two Jedi and an Old Republic Senator on Geonosis over eight hundred years ago. Sadly to say the attempt failed, and the beast was eventually killed by the Jedi after their own kind came to save them. However; I feel that we need such a beast in our pens to use in the arena, along with other creatures from across the Galaxy." He chuckled and looked hard at Krag, a smile forming on his lips. "And I hear that your homeworld has such beasts in abundance. Perhaps we will have to take a trip there as well?"

Krag was curious, he had never heard of an Acklay. Then again, Gratos was a very secluded world and most of what Krag knew of the galaxy came from outdated information or he simply learned during his time with the Sith. If these creatures were fierce, than let them be brought to the arena to truly be tested. Upon hearing the mention of his home planet, Krag returned the smile with his own tooth filled grin "Gratos is home to the most dangerous beasts in all of the galaxy. So fierce that my people have no need for tanks of iron and steel, we only need our war beasts. I had my people bring some of these beasts here with them, but they are broken and trained to wage war and not fight in an arena, we want them fresh from the swamps." Krag paused as another thought entered his mind "many planets have embargoed Gratos...confrontation in space is likely."

"No matter, whatever we will have to face will be worth the trouble after we acquire the beasts from Gratos." He said in a matter-of-fact tone as he took another drink from his goblet. "Has construction of the arena began, and if so how far along is it?" He changed the subject from the acquisition of beasts to the construction of the arena that would house them and their gladiators. "I expect the construction of the arena to be finished swiftly and efficiently with minimal delays, Lord Krag."

"The arena has been under construction for quite some time" Krag began as he walked around the Emperor of the Sith and motioned for him to follow "the underground holding areas are completed and much of the exterior is as well. With the slaves working day and night, the arena should be done within the month." Krag's voice semed to boom as it echoed off the rocky walls of the tunnel that lead the two up to the surface of the planet where a speeder would be waiting for them.

Kaine nodded, things were going as he had expected from his favorite Graug. "Very good, Krag, very good. You have pleased me, and only further cements on the second reason of why I have come all this way to see you personally." He followed Krag up through the cavernous compound until they reached the surface, where Kaine momentarily raised his hand to shield his eyes from the hellish sun before they quickly adjusted to the light. Whenever Krag lumbered into the speeder, Kaine aptly followed him into the vehicle and did nothing to keep his hair in place as they raced away through the jungle, causing it to whip around like a whirlwind of ebony hair.

"My second reason for being here is to look for a replacement for the recently deceased Karin Dorn as the Sith Lord of Sector I." He gave the most sinister grin as he stared directly at Krag, "And I believe I have found him."

As the speeder raced past trees and other such jungle foliage, Krag glanced over to his Emperor and cocked his head slightly "You wish to appoint me as the Lord of this sector?" Krag said, a cynical grin spreading across his lips. Finally, this is what he had been waiting for...an opportunity to create something great for the Graug...a chance to create the Empire that he dreamed of for his people "I will force this sector into greatness."

Kaine grinned, "I expect nothing less, Lord Krag. Under your leadership, Sector One shall rise above all others in the Empire, and will become a paradise for Imperials and Graug alike." Kaine relaxed back in the speeder's seat as they continued to blaze past the landscape of Kalee, and before long a massive unfinished structure rose up upon the horizon like a monstrous leviathan rising from the depths of the oceans of Dac. Kaine marveled at it as they approached, for it could be nothing else except the arena of which Krag spoke of. "It's marvelous, Lord Krag." He trailed off, waiting for Krag to fill him in with more details about it.

Krag grinned at the Emperor's reaction to the towering structure of Graug glory that rose above the horizon. The Arena was surrounded by a massive, six-story tall durasteel wall; which slaves still worked away at to finish, their Graug overlords whipping them with long lashes and beating them savagely with their fists. The only way through this wall, that was colored blacker than the depths of Kaine's and Krag's souls combines, was through an even darker gate that bore the resemblance of a Kaleesh skull. In fact, if one were to take a closer look, they could find that the gate had been built with real Kaleesh skulls implanted into the metal. Graug may have been brutal barbarians, but they used the bodies of their fallen slaves to their fullest potential. Beyond the gate lay several barracks and prisoner receiving areas, each with their own secret connection to the massive tunnel systems beneath Kalee. The most awe inspiring structure, however, rose high above the gargantuan watchtowers that lined the perimeter of the black defensive walls.

If evil could be personified, the structure that rose high above the two Sith was a perfect resemblance. The large, cylinder shaped structure seemed to cut the sky with the multiple spikes that rose from its top. From a slightly hollowed center, a great flame rose and broke through even the brightest of sunlight with a menacing orange glow that could make even the strongest of souls weep in fear. "The center structure is the arena, it rises over thirty stories and the flames are kept burning with darkside energy. Inside, we have many places for the weaklings to do battle and even a room to view private executions. The holding areas for the beasts and captives is more than one-hundred feet below the surface of the planet and we will use a lift to bring what we need in and out of the hollows." Krag brought his deep yellow, reptilian eyes to bare with Kaine's "I have taken force suppressors and installed a ventilation system to pump chemicals into the cell are, just in case our prey becomes...uncooperative."

"Excellent, Krag, very excellent." He said with a joyful laugh as the speeder raced ever closer to the monolith of Graug ingenuity, Kaine taking in every detail of the wondrous unfinished arena. "Mhmmm, force suppressors? I do hope we will find some suitable Jedi to bring here, and at least give them a warrior's death. It's more than those dogs deserve, but it will make for good sport, and don't the people of the Empire deserve only the best? Now then, take me to the holding cells down below, I want to inspect them for myself." The speeder slowed to a stop within the arena, and Kaine quickly hopped out over the door to land on the rough earth comprising the land around the infernal arena. He would follow Krag wherever the Graug chose to lead him in this tour of the damned.

Krag nodded, exiting the speeder and motioning for the Emperor to follow in suit. The two entered the arena's main "lobby" through a set of massive, durasteel double doors. Within the main lobby was an elaborate decoration of reds and blacks and a long carpet, flanked on either side by busts and statues of viscous creatures, led to a long staircase in the back of the room. This staircase was guarded by two massive statues whose cold eyes forever gazed at those who entered, the one on the right had an Imperial Flag hanging vertically above it and the man it resembled was the Dark Lord Kaine. The statue on the left had a Imperial Graug flag hanging above it and there was no mistaking that the statue was modeled after Krag.

"I had the statues made in our honor, a symbol of the impenetrable strength of Graug and Sith unity!"

"Very impressive, Lord Krag. Your tribute pleases me greatly." Kaine said in admiration of the statue replicated after the Dark Lord, admiring it's menacing appearance alongside the fearsome statue of Krag. Truly they would inspire fear and awe to all those who came to witness the bloodshed and carnage that will be unleashed on a daily basis in the arena beyond. "Show me more, this is all very pleasing so far."
