Intent: Twin ring set to be used as a plot device within a group of consenting RPers. Also to expand upon the mythos of Moross. As an OOC note, these rings were developed and created for the intended purpose of killing off a major NPC whose writer has willingly consented to the story. Following the completion of this plot, the intended purpose of these rings may only be used with explicit consent and agreement of all writers involved and may not be used as a way to force any PC into death, as written into the forum rules regarding character death.

Description:

A ring set crafted for the Queen of Byss, the Dreadlady Sable, for the purpose of revenge and murder. The Twin Rings of Erebos are one of Dissero’s more malicious creations to date, Phobis Device notwithstanding. Calling back to the mythos of the Morossi Aesir Erebos the Destroyer, the rings form a functioning, one-way pair of the deadly power of Force Drain.

With the collective knowledge from his years of tutelage and endeavors under the Alchemy Masters Darth Moridin, Velok, and the extended knowledge gained from Master Alchemists Rave Merrill and Ashin Varanin, not to mention is own experience in the collecting, researching, studying, and crafting of Alchemical items, Dissero has more than base means to crafting a massive variety of alchemy projects. The aid of Moridin's and Velok's holocrons, as well as the Grand Spellbook of the Sith Empire and a myriad of other useful holocrons gained from the aforementioned Masters as well as the Rudrig Heist, Dissero's archive arguably contains the greatest collection of Alchemy sources to date.

Crafted from twin Aur Diamonds cut from a single massive diamond fragment collected from the cloud of the Aur system, through complex alchemy conducted before and during the cutting process these two rings are connected by an inseparable bond. This bond allows the wearer of the Master ring to drain the life force of the wearer of the Slave ring through means of meditation by as much as they so desire, until death of the victim. The sinister nature of the ring set is compounded by the Mastercraft Alchemy through which they were created, making them indestructible and sealing the bond of the ring wearers. Once you put the rings on they cannot be removed except by means of amputating the appendage or digit in question … or through death.

The effects of the slave ring on the wearer are hideous in nature, resulting in degradation of the body as fast or as slow as the Master ring wearer wills. Skin grows taught and black starting at the source of the ring and spreading across the body. Bones grow brittle, organs fail, the mind grows fragile and mad before it shuts down. By the end all that remains of the victim is a tortured, withered, blackened husk of what once had been, their life force now absorbed by the wearer of the Master ring.

Should the victim of the Slave ring manage to rid themselves of it (and their finger) the effects are reversible but only by very powerful Lightside Healing or Force Light. Black scarring may remain on the body as a terrible reminder of their escaped fate.

There is an inherent residual empathic connection between the two rings that transmits emotions between wearers. Though this was an unintended side effect, it may be enjoyed by the cruel-minded individual bearing the Master ring. This also allows the Master ring to have a sense of the location of the Slave ring at all times, similar to that of those bonded by a Blood Trail. At greater distances it offers only a hint of direction that grows stronger and more specific as the distance closes. While the Slave ring does not afford its victim this particular knowledge, the growing sense of dread transmitted from the Master ring as the pair gets closer may clue them in.

While it is the specific Force connection between the rings that allows this dastardly fate to occur, the wearer of the Master ring must be highly proficient in the power of Force Drain, either High Knight or Master level. Sable’s curse of malice was imbued unto each ring through both her blood and her own life force. A portion of her inhabits the rings, making them (the Master ring in particular) volatile and dangerous in the hands of the weak and the uninitiated: anything from spell backfire to poisoning the wearer with Darkside corruption to driven insanity through the employment of Force Fear, a power that Sable is especially skilled in.

Strengths:
 • Alchemized metals are highly resistant to damage or destruction.
 • Alchemized Aur Diamonds remain connected across vast distances and are also highly resistant to damage or destruction.
 • Once adorned the inlaid spell makes the rings impossible to remove except in the instance of death or removal of opposing digit.
 • Inherent evil imbued into the Master Ring is both volatile and corrupting, capable of being used and harnessed only by those of proficient skill in Force Drain and power within the Darkside.
 • Beautiful craftsmanship and artistry of the rings allows them to remain inconspicuous to those not attuned to the Force.
 • Empathic connection between the two rings allows the bearer of the Master Ring to "track" their victim similar in manner to that of a Bloodtrail bond. This ability grows stronger the closer the rings are to one another.

Weaknesses:
 • Inherent evil imbued into the Master Ring is easily detected even by fledglings within the Force. Slave Ring projects a faint Aura of Uneasiness when dormant.
 • Force-null/void fields projected by Ysalamir, Velokite-lined cases, or Master-Tier Nullification Resin-lined cases will stop the connection between the two rings.
 • Force Light projected of a power equal to or greater than the wearer of the Master Ring can stop the effects upon the wearer of the Slave Ring.
 • Only lifeforce is drained. A victim of the Slave Ring that is proficient in Transfer Essence could potentially live again in another body.
 • Greater distances requires greater focus and meditation of the Master Ring bearer in order to utilize fully the purpose of the ring. In cases mass disances (more than a few star systems away), the Master Ring bearer will require the help of a Force Nexus or other Force-empowering-artifact to enact their will across the bond. The Rings serve their purpose best within close proximity (same star system).
 • Easiest way to destroy the rings? Throw them into a sun. A top-tier, Mastercraft alchemized sword might do the trick, too.
