SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Precision Solar Ionization Weapon.
  • Secondary ARC Caster.
  • Integrated Stock.
  • Integrated Holographic Sight.
  • Integrated HUD Uplink System.
  • Non-Lethal Settings.
  • Bio-metric Security System (Anti-Piracy.)
Strengths:
  • Killing Blow: Capable of penetrating conventional deflector shields and melting durasteel, and even forcing the mighty Mandalorians to kneel in electrified agony, the Helius was dangerous to any and all that stood in the path of the Sunborn. However, both weapons couldn’t be fired in unison and were required to be cycled - lest the weapon suffers a critical overload.
  • Chain Lightning: When the secondary ARC weapon was charged, be it fully or at a lower level, the discharged lightning had a curious effect when fired near tightly-packed formation of enemy infantry. The coruscating bolt of lightning would fire into the nearest target and then would bounce from one person to the next until the lethality of the energy was fully dispersed. If the target was out of range of his companions, the bolt would concentrate the full killing power on the victim - leaving them as nothing more than an ashen wreck.
Weaknesses:
  • Solarized Rifle: With the unique, and almost arcane properties of the solarized weapon, the Helius required a solar conversion module integrated into the firing matrix. This piece of technology allowed for the collection of radiant solar radiation, and the conversion of energy from conventional plasma cartridges. However, without ambient solar radiation, the Helius would rapidly drain any of its power sources and leave the weapon starving for energy.
  • Critical Overload: As the Helius was built with an integrated ARC emitter, the weapon ran the risk of becoming a hazard to its operator should bot weapons be employed synonymously, or within a rapid succession of one another. If such an event should transpire, the battle rifle would encounter a feedback surge through its catalytic conversion module - and violently explode within the operator’s hands.
  • EMP/ION Resistant: While the weapon was hardened to resist the harsh side-effects of electronic warfare, the Helius was by no means immune to its effects. If found in close proximity to an overloading device, or directly struck, the weapon would have to be purged of excess energy and manually rebooted.
DESCRIPTION
Due to their veneration and subsequent mastery of and over the Sun; the Thyrsian’s were capable of weaving it’s arcane energies into various technologies - including the harnessing of its deadly radiation into a weaponized form. The ‘Helius’ was the newest iteration of weapons borne from the eldritch knowledge contained atop the sands of Thyrsus and would be supplied to the soldiers who served beneath the valiant, and gilded Sun Guard themselves. Their weapons would capture and project the wrath of the Sun itself, as the solarized plasmatic beams tore into massed enemy formations and brought them to their knees.

Unlike the weapons that were solely given to the Sun Guard, the Helius adopted a more utilitarian aesthetic that was streamlined by cleanly machined angles; which allowed for a larger level of production than their hand-crafted kin. This choice in overall appearance was made to offer a more familiar sight to those entering into the Auxilia’s service - despite the fact the internal systems were entirely complex and produced something other than a self-contained plasmatic beam. While the weapon itself was a paradox of thematic designs, the Helius would serve those that stood beneath the Sunborn’s banner faithfully, as there was little aside from the harshest of conditions that would render the rifle inert.

These conditions were being fully submerged in salted water, or within the heart of an ionic storm - as both would seep into the sealed environment and disrupt the delicate circuitry inside.

As the Helius was nothing more than a downscaled version of the Solar Ionization cannon, it lacked the power that its starfighter variant held. With that being said, the solarized rifle was still capable of penetrating conventional deflector shields and melting durasteel - that was rated for personal armour. Anything thicker would find itself safe from such dangerous effects, but would doubtlessly cause the organic bearer to feel the residual transfer of heat; which could potentially boil the target within their armour, whilst leaving the plating untouched. As the solarized beam wasn’t the only weapon attached to the Helius, the rifle was equipped with a secondary ARC caster - which would bring even the most heavily armoured opponents to their knees.

While this wasn’t always a guarantee, the secondary weapon system was capable of being charged to discharge a greater current, which held the possibility of jumping from one target to another - or being capable of overloading a light vehicle’s circuitry system.

Thus, with the Helius in hand - the Thyrsian Auxilia would prove to be just as dangerous as their gilded, power armoured counterparts.
