DESCRIPTION

While the ancient tenets of the Tarkin Doctrine were long forgotten, the lessons they imparted seemingly stained the pages of history; ensuring it's stunted, but continued survival. To this end, the Golden Company sought to devise a warship that would emulate the echoes of the past and see to their continued dominance amongst the stars. Thus, the conceptual formation of the TTH/MBS-001 "Alcaeus" - Class Hexareme truly began. It started as nothing more than a lofty idea, before it was rendered in metallic flesh by the artifice of conjoined Thyrsian and Coruscanti hands. In their architectural union, this line of mighty warships became a deadly reality - entering into the service of the Aureate Mercenary Navy, and slaughtering all who sought to deny their majesty in the process.

What separated the Alcaeus from its voidborne kindred, was the myriad systems woven into its metallic flesh; making it's simple appearance deceivingly deadly. In addition to this, the mighty Hexareme eschewed the traditional Imperial wedge and adopted a more curved cigar like shape. This design choice was not only meant to eliminate the issues that were present in the Imperial aesthetic, but to further enhance the warship's broadside cannonade. Though some would argue that the aforementioned delineation was more superior in design and appearance, such a truth would’ve fallen of deaf ears. Such a build offered an unmatched frontal firing arc, but was rarely implemented when combat was joined between competent commanders; as space is vast and houses quite the room to maneuver.

Through utilizing the broadside-focused design, the Alcaeus was more than capable of skirting around the battlefield and tearing multiple opponents apart, rather than bearing down and utterly obliterating one at a time with overwhelming force. In addition to the lack of Imperial-styled trenches, the external turrets were offered a smooth surface upon which to alter their firing trajectories; granting them an unmatched firing arc. Almost every weapon, save for the sustained solar lances, would be able to take advantage of such a boon; effectively increasing the lethality that the mighty Hexareme offered to their Gilded Masters.

In addition to the heavily altered design, the composition of the standard Thyrsian hull and armour plating was enhanced by the twinned components of lamnanium and animated metal. Both of these included items allowed for the Hexareme to act in a similar manner to an organic body; capable of sealing wounds with metallic scar tissue and eventually regenerate without submitting to weeks in drydock. This was a relatively new science unlocked by the secret excavations of the Golden Company; who sought to unlock the technology of the past, so that they might remake the future. Therefore, such a boon wasn't passed down to the existing warships, leaving them to endure the wait until the second phase of refits began. Only the best, for the Scions of Thyrsus.

While originally integrated into the Nebula - Class Star Destroyers, the mighty Hexareme was equipped with several lateral thrust vents that were outfitted atop gyroscopic gimbal mounts. With the inclusion of these massive thrusters, almost as powerful as the main drive units themselves, the Alcaeus was considerably more agile than your standard warship. As there were multiple thrust vents included in the battle ship's design, it was capable of altering its momentum in almost every direction imaginable; provided the vessel wasn't embraced by a planet's atmosphere. Through those vents, capable of retracting into the hull itself, the mighty Hexareme was able to proverbially "dance" across the be speckled canvas of stars, as it fought against a hostile warship.

Though the entire lineup of Republic Engineering and Thyrsian warships were equipped with some of the most advanced countermeasures in the galaxy, the Alcaeus was purpose-built with the bleeding-edge technology in mind. With the addition of an artificial intelligence command module, and integrated droid brains - slave-linked to the central core - there was a significant reduction to the organic crew complement, as almost everything was automated. In addition to the reduction of biological personnel, the mighty Hexareme was capable of housing multiple internal, and retractable systems; much like the aforementioned lateral thrust vents. Such was the beauty of an expansive vessel, with plenty of room to house many secrets; safely guarded behind an armoured hull.

When it came to the countermeasures themselves, the list was comprehensive; covering almost every conceivable angle that the Hexareme needed to defend itself against. From an automated internalized defence network, to a sweeping array of anti-jamming and various projectile countermeasures, the Alcaeus was slated to become the first amongst equals. With the inclusion of infused mirror-reflective coating, fused to sliding girders across a majority of the outer hull, the warship was equipped with an overhauled and antiquated method in which to momentarily defend itself from energy weapons once their primary, and secondary barrier’s collapsed. As well, the Alcaeus was equipped with a HIMS system, that permitted the vessel to circumnavigate the cunning artifice of interdiction warfare; however the system would only work whilst the warship was already in hyperspace, not before.

The most revolutionary of the Hexareme’s inclusions, was the Xythan Force Shielding; once thought lost to the annals of history. It was a technology that reshaped the understanding and principles of deflector shields, advancing them beyond the conventional projected barriers and their molecular kindred. Through means unknown, but later revealed, the Force Shielding was capable of absorbing the lethality of a discharged energy weapon and returning that deady power from whence it came. To add further clarification, the Xythan barriers redirected plasma and ionic weapons would be sent back towards their would-be attackers, adding to the blistering cannonade they were already forced to endure.

However, despite all of the boons that were built into the metallic flesh of the Alcaeus, there were several glaring weaknesses that, sadly, were unavoidable. While the armament of the Hexareme was boasted to be well-rounded, there was a significant lack of heavy capital-grade batteries in the aft section. In addition to this, the turreted concussion missile tubes posed a danger to the warship should their defensive bulwark ever collapse, and their emplacements were targeted by concentrated firepower. As well, and perhaps most critical of these listed weaknesses, was the notable lack of starfighter carrying capacity; forcing the Hexareme to rely heavily on additional escorts.

Nevertheless, the Alcaeus was but one of the first Thyrsian battleships to populate the stars in defiance of the terms of the Almera Accords. Their chains were broken, and soon, the stars themselves would tremble in the second coming of the Sun Guard; their vengeance echoing through the aeons, seeking to be sated with depthless oceans of blood.

Modification Summary:
  • Removed Stellar from the Submission naming scheme.
  • Replaced Reactionary Repulsorfield Shell with Barca Pattern Pressor Emitters.
