DESCRIPTION
The TTH/ATE-001 "Laertes" - Class Trireme was the first, dedicated warship in service to the Thyrsian-led Golden Company, which was specifically designed to operate in the thick of battle with nary a care for survival. With the previous vessels that found themselves pressed into the militant sect’s service, there was a heavy reliance on mobility as their weapons would be able to punch through anything that stood in their path. However, as the call went out for larger, and larger starships - the role they needed to fill on the battlefield had to change. While there was still room for the lightly armoured, and agile warships that would make up the entirety of their raiding flotillas, the growing Thyrsian Armada needed something more static to form the central lynchpins of their ever-shifting battle lines. Yet, whatever ships came forth from the Coruscanti Driveyards couldn’t eschew their cultural heritage - so a balance needed to be struck between the desired ideologies.

Thus, came forth the “Laertes” to join the ever-growing ranks of the Thyrsian’s Armada. Its outer hull was reinforced not only by the overhauled Mirror Shields, dredged forth from the annals of antiquity but a layer of Turadium armour plating. This second shell would offer the warship a significant measure of protection against exotic weapons, and boarding craft, all the while allowing the vessel to take on a more dedicated role on the battlefield. With it’s added armour, the “Laertes” could surge forth into enemy formations and tear its opposition asunder; leaving nothing but smouldering husks in its wake. This ideal of battlefield supremacy, especially on such a small scale, made this warship an ideal fit for the Thyrsian art of war; as it embodied almost every tenet within those sand-scoured pages, save for being highly agile.

With a myriad of weapons that covered almost every end of the spectrum, the “Laertes” was capable of engaging almost any foe that found themselves within its sights. From the Hyperion Solar Lances, that could feasibly disable and destroy almost any conventional warship that stood in its path, to the Turreted Missile Tubes with variable payloads - that would allow the Thyrsians to alter their tactics on the fly. It was almost a perfect blend of lethality, save for the fact that the Frigate was incapable of diverting excess power away from its weapons arrays to further fuel their agility and speed. However, such sacrifices had to be made and were of little concern to the Golden Company. All that mattered, in the end, was the simple fact that they were one step closer to reclaiming their homeworld.

Soon, it would be time to Liberate Thyrsus from the hands of the Vile Echani, and give them the justice they deserve.
