STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Strengths:
  • Can resist ion/EMP attacks
  • Torpedo launcher can be fired from long ranges
  • Slim flank profile
Weaknesses:
  • Slow torpedo rate of fire (takes anywhere between 20 seconds and 60 seconds to charge one energy torpedo)
  • Easy to detect on EM/thermal sensors when the guns and/or energy torpedo launcher is fired
  • Exposed engines
  • Cannot fire guns when SLAM is active
  • Fragile hull
Description: The Tsubame was built mostly for one purpose: hit-and-run attacks at long range, made necessary by the slow charging time of the torpedoes. Also, an increase in maneuverability as mandated for that purpose made the hull a little more fragile than on the Chiloon-IV. A tactic often used for hit-and-run was to activate the SLAM to close in, unleash their torpedo payload, and then fall back at speed, while not being able to fire back at missiles or enemy fighters since SLAM drains power from the guns for the extra boost in speed. But it still suffers from the same weaknesses as the Chiloon-IV: it is easy to detect on EM/thermal sensors when the guns and/or energy torpedo launchers are fired.
