SPECIAL FEATURES
- Allow customization and "engraving" of lightsaber blades
- Flashy: The Heraldry offers an additional degree of cosmetic personalization to lightsabers, allowing users to program various letters or images along the weapon's energy blade.
- Cosmetic: The Heraldry doesn't actually do anything of its own accord, being simply a way to display things on the blade of a saber.
An optional upgrade for a lightsaber, the Heraldry is designed for particularly-vain Dzara duelists.
The Helix Privateers have long mastered the use of solid-state holograms, creating everything from operational droids to shields to weapons utilizing nothing more than photons. As the organization joined the Dzara, more and more of these technologies emerged to cater to Sith ends.
The Heraldry is certainly a non-traditional component, but one that has already garnered something of a fanbase within the Dzara's upper ranks. Typically, Lightsabers function by containing a circuit of energized plasma within a blade-shaped magnetic field. The Heraldry alters the latter component within a sheen of incredibly-strong, hyper-dense photons of adjustable color and opacity.
In effect, this produces a thin holo-display over the plasma blade, dampening the intensity of its light and allowing the user to project letters or images of their choice onto the blade.
This is not dissimilar to the practice of engraving more traditional metal swords, as it offers an extra degree of personalization to a lightsaber. In the Dzara's hands, these holograms are most often used to display threats, tally one's victims, or simply to make the blade one's own in whatever fashion one wishes. When the blade of the saber strikes an object, the images will momentarily flicker, then simply reform to their user-set configuration.
In and of itself, this offers no practical benefit, as it neither increases nor decreases the weapon's actual performance in any way. However, more enterprising persons might use this to place various runes and imbuements onto an energy blade itself.
