"Greetings, Knights Sal-Soren and Westgard,

Both of you have requested new assignments, and for what I have in mind, I'd like you both to work together. The Alliance and Jedi are currently very focused on the war with the Mandalorians, but it's equally important for us to not lose track of the Sith. They have recently reclaimed several of their ancient worlds, and we can't allow that expansion to continue.

One of the planets close to their borders is Mirial, the homeworld of the Mirialans. They have always been our allies, but now feel threatened that their world will fall. To make matters worse, we received reports about a Sith Lord and his followers visiting the planet on two occasions already — likely to scout ahead, or to make plans for the world.

The mission is simple — travel to Mirial and find out what you can about the Sith's expansion plans. If you encounter the Sith Lord, capture or neutralize him.

May the Force be with you both."

"We're beginning our descent now, Duchess," Kagniv's cool, assured voice echoed over the intercom, slightly muffled by the hum of the Verè, whose rhythm faltered slightly as it commenced its graceful downward curve. "Much appreciated, Ser Erskil." Responded Briana via the comm unit nestled near her in the expansive training chamber, using the heraldry terms that were expected from someone of her station while simultaneously trying to hide the grimace that accompanied it.

Her ice-blue eyes slid subtly in the direction of Silas.

"Suppose that's our call to action," she quipped, a smirk playing at the corners of her lips as she gestured towards the portal that led back to the cockpit. With practiced grace and fluidity, Briana disengaged her blade, the glowing blue vanishing instantaneously as she returned the hilt to her belt and gave a bow to her temporary sparring partner before following him back to their seats.

There was a time when she would have piloted her own ships — and still did on occasion, often finding the thrill of navigating through the stars a liberating experience. But that was before. Before the tragic loss of her parents. Before fate saw fit to thrust her into a position of immense responsibility, her mother's ship and the loyal crew that manned it being part of that unexpected inheritance. She supposed there were some benefits to her new position though. Like having a veteran pilot on standby, ready for immediate takeoff at all times, which was particularly useful when a swift exit was necessary.

There was no way to predict if such a need would arise on Mirial, but it was always good to be prepared for the worst, rather than being caught with your pants down.

Which was why, prior to leaving Coruscant, Briana had chosen a discreet docking bay for their landing. One that was strategically distanced from the bustling central hub and typically designed for foreign dignitaries and nobility who preferred to land without the threat of an immediate swarm upon arrival. The less attention they drew to themselves, the more freedom they had to operate and preserve the integrity of their mission objective.

Not long after they'd arrived to the cockpit and settled, the Nubian craft touched down planetside with a gentle 'THUD', signaling Briana and Silas to unfasten their crashwebbing once given the all-clear. Stretching to her legs, Briana went and laid a hand on Kagniv's shoulder, his golden uniform reflecting the faint ambient light of the ships interior. "Keep the crew on standby, we'll comm if we need an immediate extraction." The seasoned pilot nodded in understanding, sinking further into his seat.

"Right then." she turned towards Silas, securing a dingy cloak around her neck and dumping her blades into a travelers sack that she slung over her shoulder. If there were Sith lurking around, there was no reason to alert them to their presence by making themselves easy targets to identify. "Ready to kick the hornets nest and see what we can shake loose?"

Silas rarely went on missions with former padawans of Valery, but this time he had an opportunity to work with one in a mission environment. Brianna Sal-Soren, the eldest of the padawans taught under the sword was a formidable Jedi and ally to have at your side. Silas trusted her with his life, he just hoped she shared the same confidence in his skills as he did with hers.

Breathing steadily, he gave a respectful bow to Brianna and went over to take a sip of his water on a nearby seat. Before the mission, they had managed to fit in some light sparring to warm them up for what was ahead. Once he had switched off his saber, he looked to the portal and nodded with a smile "Indeed it is" Silas replied with a smile, his hand motioning for her to lead the way so he could follow from behind. Brianna's loyal crew had given them a heads up, now it was time to mentally prepare for the task at hand.

Entering the cockpit, it didn't take time for them to land after they had gotten themselves comfy in their seats. It has been smooth sailing so far, but who knew what could be ahead for the pair of them? Silas unbuckled his belt and stood up, a small sigh coming from his mouth while he stretched out his arms "I most certainly am Brianna, let's see what trouble we can get ourselves into shall we?" he chuckled while sliding his hood across his jacket hood across his head.

The mission notes stated it was probably best to keep a low profile compared to going all guns blazing. With a lesser known planet like Mirial, Silas was more than happy to do that and then some "I'm afraid I don't know too much about Mirial. Are there any landmarks we will be investigating first?" he asked curiously as they slowly walked down the ramp into the docking bay.

Briana felt a flicker of appreciation and respect for Silas as he posed his question.

It was rare for someone to openly admit their lack of knowledge in something and to seek out understanding, instead of cloaking themselves in the silence of feigned wisdom. When working in a partnership, that could be dangerous, especially on a mission like this.

One advantage of teaming up with another was the ability to trust them to pick up the slack when your own knowledge or skill might fall short, and Briana was almost always equipped with a response at the ready. This had, unsurprisingly, earned her the label of being a know-it-all amongst her siblings during their formative years, something that once felt diminishing. Yet, there were moments when being a know-it-all came with its own set of advantages.

Growing up, Briana's education covered many topics such as languages, culture, astrography, and least of all, planetary studies. Though Mirial did not rank highly among the prominent worlds in her academics, it was not entirely overlooked.

"Well," she began thoughtfully, "Mirial is known for its vast deserts and strong spiritual beliefs... there are a lot of ancient ruins to look out for, but our focus will mostly be on locating the old temple that's said to be just outside the underground city, in the depths of the Shadorian dunes. Supposedly, it was once served as a Sith temple, but no one knows for sure. If we can locate it, we may also find our Sith and be able to figure out their intentions."

Mirial sounded like an ancient planet with layer upon layer of history underneath its sea of sand. All of it however had been lost through the generations, leaving only ruined rocks that only indicated the possibility something used to be there. One of the structures that still haunted this planet was the Sith temple, a place that always seemed to reveal itself when trouble was about. To say the least, with Brianna and himself already on their scent what they had planned would soon crumble.

"If there was one building where a Sith would go it would be there. My concerns are there may be a lost artifact they are searching for, sith always have a motive when they revisit old temples like this"

Silas was skeptical for sure, but Sith doesn't waste their time with things like this. Cunning to the bone, when they hear rumours of power they will stop at nothing to gain it to be bigger than their peers. It was clear a plan was being hatched, Silas and Brianna were not going to let it flourish beyond this planet.

"How do you propose we get there? if we're close we can go by foot and make use of our water" he asked at first, his head turning briefly back to the ship "Or has your crew packed some speeders we can use to make light of our travel?"

"We've got a pair of lightweight models tucked away in the cargo hold. I believe they're equipped with cloaking devices, and are suitable for desert navigation. Should get us to the temple ruins without drawing too much attention." she nodded thoughtfully. "As for the Sith's motives, I agree that they're definitely after something. Artifacts, ancient texts, dark energy sources... It could be any number of things. But whatever it is, we just need to ensure they don't find it. Or, if they already have, take it off their hands."

With a beckoning wave of her hand Briana led Silas to the back of the ship, her stride confident and purposeful as they approached an off-loading ramp extending from the cargo hold to the ground, where under the watchful eye of Kagniv, several uniformed crew members were finalizing the setup of the speeders.

The perceptive gaze of his stormy grey eyes fell upon them as they drew clower, prompting him to pivot in their direction. "Your Grace, Master Westguard," he greeted, bowing his head respectfully to each. "The speeders are finished with the final adjustments and are ready for your immediate disposal," he announced, his rich voice tinged with a note of satisfaction. "Given the unpredictability of your mission, we've included additional survival kits, equipped with rations, water purification units, and a compact medical kit. There's also a secondary communication set, encrypted for secure lines back to the Verè, should circumstances necessitate it."

He gestured towards the sleek, dust-colored vehicles, with lines that would blend seamlessly into the backdrop of their environment. "And, anticipating the need for subtlety in your reconnaissance, we've installed silent running engines. They should minimize your auditory footprint, making it difficult for anyone to detect your approach."

One of the advantages of inheriting her mother's crew was the absence of novices among them, particularly when it came to Kagniv. As the principal pilot and liaison for the Sal-Soren family, he brought to bear a certain weight of authority and command from more than a decade of experience. His presence was not just a source of comfort, but the epitome of leadership and proficiency.

"These are perfect Kagniv, we couldn't ask for better. Thank you." Her gaze swept over the sleek lines of the vehicles before indicating for Silas to join, slinging her leg astride her bike as she fit a pair of goggles over her eyes.

Then, without warning or fanfare, Briana promptly gunned the motor.

"Perfect, that will save us some time" Silas said at first with a brief nod to what she said about the Sith. If they did already find what they were looking for, they were going to make sure the Sith left empty handed. Following Brianna to the back of the ship he spotted the two speeders they were going to be using as well as the workforce that was hard at work getting things ready. He hadn't asked her yet, but he was curious how Brianna was able to afford such a workforce. The clue to it was what one of her crew called her earlier, what was it now... a dutchess?

"Kagniv" he responded in kind, listening closely to what they had prepared for them "Thank you for the hard work you and your crew have put in for us. We both appreciate the help" Silas explained kindly, thankful that they had supplied them with ample gear and speeders that almost seemed perfect for the mission ahead. It wasn't common that other people helped him prepare for a mission, he normally did it himself most of the time. However, if it was offered he was more than happy to accept the help for once.

Moving over to his speeder, he placed the supplied goggles over his eyes and sat down in preparation to move out "Ready when you are" he said with a brief smile to Briana who soon enough zoomed out of the ship. Following suit, Silas was soon to the right of her going at a fast speed across the desert plains.

<"Do you think this Sith will have any help with him? Most like to work alone, but some bring additional muscle just to dispose of them when they've finished">
