Trials of Mandalore

Sandis tried to hide a smile, but did a poor job of it. She finished her breakfast and set about trying to speed the healing process of her ankle, walking on it, shifting her weight on it.

Verz saw Sandis walking around on her injured leg. She was eager, it seems, to get back into fighting shape. Good. She had to be careful though, not to injure it further. He called over to her.

"Be careful Sandis. You don't want to injure that ankle further."

She nodded to the Mandalorian. Sitting down on one of the chairs, she began to massage the ankle, trying to heal it with the Force, although she had never been taught exactly how to do that. Then she stood up and began to move again.

This pattern, eating and walking without the walking stick, continued for several days in Verz' home, until finally she could walk with only a slight limp. She no longer needed the walking stick.
On the seventh day after they arrived on Mandalore, Sandis asked Verz after breakfast: "Am I ready, yet?"

Verz was impressed with just how much she had healed in the last week. Certainly the Force had a part in it, but still, humans were not the fastest of healers. He considered her request, then answered her.

"Yes, I will start teaching you. First, you must learn the language. While you do that, we will also work on your fitness. Soon, we can get you some armor as well."

Over the next few days, Sandis learned not just the language of the Mandalorians, but how to use it properly. She was fluent in less than two weeks time, surprising herself. Verz had even given her some papers to read in Mando'a, which she could not get away from.

She sat down one morning for breakfast and found Verz enter with a large box. She guessed at the contents.

He carried the crate with ease, when most other humans would find it to heavy to lift without a friend helping them. He placed the crate down, and pulled the lid off. Inside was a simplified version of Mandalorian armor, made of light plastics. This was a suit made with the purpose of teaching how to wear armor. It was a kind rarely worn by Mandalorians, except by children learning to wear armor.

Sandis stood up, looking into the crate. "This is for me?" she reached inside and grabbed the chest piece. It was made of duraplast, so she didn't expect it to be heavy, but she was not expecting the amount of weight it did have. I assume it's supposed to teach me how to wear armor.

Sandis began to put on the pieces of armor as Verz began to explain them. Sandis was a bit disappointed to see there was no helmet in the crate.
Sandis immediately began adjusting to the armor, though it through her off balance for a little. She began to walk around in it, adjusting and adapting.

"Good. Good. Within a year you should be ready for beskar armor. You may speak Mando'a well enough, but you will soon learn to speak as well as any native Mandalorian. I'm proud of your progress. How would you like to try some uj cake?
